2021 Tom K Classic Standouts

On December 5, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to Archbishop Molloy High School in the Briarwood section of Queens for the first annual Tom Konchalski Classic. The event which was put together as a way to pay homage to the late, great scout who passed away in February at the age of 74. As the start of the season, many of the teams were getting their feet wet after last year’s shortened season due to COVID-19 pandemic. Here are the standouts from the event:

 

Jaedon Hutchinson 6-5, Shooting Guard, St. Mary’s High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that is very explosive and has a solid game that can match with anyone on the floor. Is very active on the break and is able to get down court with ease. Is a very athletic player that can create for himself off the dribble.

 

Vere Anthony 6-0, Point Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has great court vision and can see where his teammates are moving on the floor so that he can distribute the ball to his teammates. Is able to get to the basket easily and is fearless when going up for two. Is very mature for his class.

 

Kelvin Collado 6-6, Forward, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2023 - A forward with good footwork and plenty of strength in the paint area. Is a skilled player that is a valued asset for his team whenever he’s on the floor. Is able to obtain rebounds and go up and score in the post area.

 

Noah Best 6-5, Shooting Guard, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for shooting at a high volume and can score in bunches. Is a player that can shoot from long range and can do damage when left open on the perimeter. Has the ability to use athleticism when driving to the basket.

 

Jalen Lyn 6-2, Point Guard, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2023 - A guard with an excellent vision on the court. Is a player that can lead his team in transition and can either bring up the pace of play or slow it down. Has the ability to dominate from the perimeter and has superb athleticism, whether it is going to the rim or blocking the shot of the opposition.

 

Izaiah Millan 6-0, Point Guard, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to see the court when on the floor. Loves to run in the fast break and is able to get downcourt with ease. Is always alert and ready to hit teammates with good passes. Is always fearless when going up for a basket.

 

Manu Alford 6-3, Shooting Guard, Holy Trinity High School, Class of 2022 - A guard with a long frame that has the ability to make plays in transition. Is able to absorb physical contact with driving to the lane and can attack the basket easily. Has plenty of confidence when it comes to scoring.

 

Izaiah Shaw-Glenn, 6-4, Forward, Holy Trinity High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that has good footwork and is able to move around the floor off the ball. Is able to step out of the paint area and shoot from at least 15 feet. Knows how to maneuver when it comes to getting rebounds and holding down the post area.

 

Jonathan McCullers, 6-0, Point Guard, Holy Trinity High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has plenty of quickness & can attack the perimeter in transition. Has excellent court vision & is able to see where his teammates are moving on the floor. Has the ability to shoot from long range and can hit clutch shots.

 

Don Colon-Lewis 6-5, Forward, Xaverian High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has good footwork and makes swift moves on the offensive end when going towards the basket. Is an imposing figure in the paint area that can help neutralize the opposition when it comes to them trying to score. Has good hands and great positioning when it comes to him being on the defensive end.

 

Supreme Niles 6-0, Point Guard, Xaverian High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that runs like an engine and makes his teammates go when on the court.Has the ability to attack in transition and is able to see the floor well, especially when his teammates are on their way downcourt to get to the basket. Is also fearless when going into the basket.

 

Aaron Goldstein 6-0, Shooting Guard, Xaverian High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has a penchant for scoring in bunches and is never afraid to take clutch shots when he has the opportunity to do so. Is very fearless when going to the basket and always goes up strong and is able to draw fouls. Likes to drive to the hole and always goes up strong.

 

Nico Peña 6-1, Point Guard, Xaverian High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that can create for himself offensively and also can move with out the ball and can free himself to get open for a shot. A player that can shoot the lights out from three-point range. Can be tough to stop if he is not guarded heavily every time, especially if it’s from deep.

 

Michael Walker 6-6, Forward, Xaverian High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that can attack the glass easily and has the ability to be a tough player in the post who can hold his own. Has the ability to impose his strong presence on the court and is fearless when it comes to going up for a basket and being fouled. Is an x-factor for his teammates when he’s on the floor.

 

Joshua Rodriguez, 6-1, Shooting Guard, St. Anthony High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to shoot from long range and is able to find ways to break down defenses with his dribble. Is very aware of when to shoot and when to kick out the ball to his teammates. When not guarded heavily, he can take advantage of the opposition, especially when it comes to his shooting prowess.

 

William Snyder 6-5, Forward, St. Anthony High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that is able to attack the glass and can make good decisions on the floor. Is able to crash the boards for rebounds with ease and is fearless when it comes to absorbing contact. Has good hands, which also enable him to block shots.

 

Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt 6-0, Point Guard, St. Anthony High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that is a slick ball-handler and is able to get to the hole easily by breaking down the opposition off the dribble. Knows how to attack the lane and has the ability to make sure that his teammates are around so that they can receive the ball at the right time. Has a good jumper from the mid-range.

 

Chase Robinson 6-0, Point Guard, Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that is able to get up and down the court with ease and has great playmaking ability. Knows how to create for himself off the dribble and is capable of making sure that his teammates get the ball so that they can score.

 

John McCabe 6-3, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to make hustle plays on the floor. Has the ability to create for himself off the dribble and is able to absorb physical contact when going up for two. Has a penchant for shooting from long range.

 

Matthew Hanley 6-6, Forward, Monsignor Farrell High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that is able to make his way around the paint and is very versatile when on the offensive end. Is able to create for himself off the ball and can handle the ball when in the post. Is also able to step out and shoot from long range.
