2019 EYAC Beacon 158 Spring Fling Top Performers - 5/3

On Friday night, May 3rd, RecruitTheBronx.com paid another visit to the Beacon 158 Spring League. This time the action was in Bayside, Queens, where high school programs from The Bronx and Queens dueled it out in three games. Here are the standouts from Friday’s games.


Errol White, 6-6, Forward, Cardozo High School, Class of 2020 - White possesses plenty of strength in the low post and is someone that can bang in the paint. Looks to grab rebounds and can also hold his own when going up for baskets.


Andrew Lang, 6-0, Point Guard, Cardozo High School, Class of 2021 - Lang is quick and knows where to hit teammates for passes. Makes the right plays at the right time. Finds ways to score and also makes strong drives to the basket.


Sharif Nelson, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Cardozo High School, Class of 2021 - Nelson likes to shoot from long range and can be very deadly from behind the arc when not defended heavily. Is also a strong defender that has long hands and can smother the opposition with his defense.


Hakim Mbacke, 6-5, Forward, Wings Academy, Class of 2020 - Mbacke is very athletic and is very strong. Uses his toughness to hold his own in the low post and is efficient at grabbing rebounds. Struggles with lack of offense, but makes up for it with effort on the floor.


Jose Cuello, 6-0, Point Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2020 - Cuello gives the maximum effort on the floor and has the ability to pass the ball to his teammates. Always quick on the defensive end. Struggles to finish baskets in transition and forces his shot.


Rosshaun Barreto, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2021 - Barreto spaces the floor well and is good at being aggressive on the offensive end. Good at getting up and down the floor. A player that has a lot of hustle and can help with his effort. Displays ability to shoot from long range.


Jeremy Moranta, 5-10, Point Guard, Transit Tech High School, Class of 2020 - Moranta has plenty of energy on the court. Is very quick and deceptive and is great at getting up and down the floor. Shoots at a high volume and is a solid rebounder for his size. Has very active hands on defense and can block shots and get steals.


Danny Hernandez, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Transit Tech High School, Class of 2020 - Hernandez plays tough on both ends of the court. Loves to run on the break and takes pride in grabbing rebounds. Has plenty of hustle on the court and is good at shooting from long range.


Kharon Grimes, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Transit Tech High School, Class of 2020 - Grimes has plenty of strength and is very quick on the court. Good at getting to the basket and is able to absorb physical contact when going up for two and is a good facilitator with good passing instincts.


Ajani Lewis, 6-4, Forward, Springfield Gardens High School, Class of 2020 - Lewis is very powerful, due to his strong build, on both ends of the court. Uses his strength to his make his presence felt in the low post and makes tough drives to the basket.


Jeremy Jolly, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Springfield Gardens High School, Class of 2021 - Jolly is quick on the fast break and is a player that looks to score when on the run. Shoots at a very high volume, as he can hit shots from long range, especially when left open.


Christian Smallhorne, 5-11, Point Guard, Springfield Gardens High School, Class of 2021 - Smallhorn is a slick guard that can make good moves to the basket and knows how to run a team. Has the ability to be a facilitator and makes good, tough drives to basket. Very fearless when going up for a basket and is good at absorbing physical contact.


Chance Morrish, 5-10, Shooting Guard, St. Francis Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - Morrish is a slasher and will make the most of his opportunity to get a basket. Is not afraid of physical contact when going to the basket and despite his small frame is able to get rebounds.


Malachi Phillips, 5-10, Point Guard, St. Francis Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - Phillips is very quick and deceptive and looks to run on the open floor. Is a strong defender and looks to make steals, which results in him getting to the basket and scoring.


Darrell Victory, 5-6, Point Guard, St. Francis Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - Victory is very speedy, and knows how to control a team and where to move. A guard that is very unselfish and gives the ball to his teammates at the right spots. Despite his small frame, he is able to get to the lane.


Jonathan Medley, 6-1, Shooting Guard, St. Francis Prep, Class of 2022 - Medley showcases plenty of hustle on the floor and is willing to dive for loose balls and get steals. Good at getting blocked shots and can make hustle plays. Is a good passer.


Tyler Chapman, 6-0, Point Guard, Holy Cross High School, Class of 2020 - Chapman has plenty of hustle and plays a lot of tough defense and is quick at getting to the basket. Has a good sense of where teammates will be moving on the floor and sees where teammates are moving.


Madison Muldrow, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Holy Cross, Class of 2020 - Muldrow has a long wingspan and makes heady plays on the court. Makes strong drives to the basket and isn’t afraid of contact when going up for two. Struggles with lack of strength.


Jason Steele, 6-4, Forward, Holy Cross High School, Class of 2022 - Steele possesses plenty of toughness as he makes powerful moves to the basket and is very fearless in the paint. Can handle the ball on the perimeter and post up smaller defenders. Goes up strong at the basket.


Anthony Walters, 6–0, Forward, Holy Cross High School, Class of 2020 - Walters is an undersized forward that is very strong in the low post and can haul down rebounds and is good at running up and down the floor. Hustles for the ball every if it is loose and gives his team a maximum effort. When in the low post, looks to score.
