2018 Conrad McRae Summer League Top Performers

On Sunday afternoon, RecruitTheBronx.com went out to the Conrad McRae Youth League in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It was 95 degrees outside and the battles were intense on the small court, but players from the teams that played gave everything they had on the asphalt. Here’s the notes on some of the players.


Jelani Clark, 5-7, Curtis High School, Point Guard, Class of 2019 - Good at slashing through the lane. Has a lot of quickness. Has the ability to shoot, but must use it more.


Adeleye Oyenkami, 6-3, Curtis High School, Forward, Class of 2019 - Has nice size for his frame. Plays great defense. Is able to absorb physical contact.


Darnell Askew, 6-4, Curtis High School, Forward, Class of 2019 - Needs to get stronger physically. Has the ability to get rebounds. Displays athletic ability.


Calvin Jenkins, 6-1, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Guard, Class of 2020 - Shows a lot of hustle. Has to finish more at the basket. Needs to slow down on turnovers.


Gabriel Blenman, 5-7, George Westinghouse High School, Shooting Guard Class of 2019 - Looks to go to the hole all the time. Must be guarded heavily because he can do damage when left open. Plays tremendous defense.


Sharif Nelson, 5-9, Benjamin Cardozo High School, Point Guard, Class of 2021 - Attempts to go to the basket. Good at distributing to teammates. Has to develop more of deep three ball threat.


Donte Howell, 5-10, Benjamin Cardozo High School, Combo Guard, Class of 2021 - Possesses great playmaking skills, needs to finish consistently when making layups.


Shahid Burke, 5-8, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Shooting Class of 2019 - Turnover prone. Attacks the basket. Must finish when going to the basket.


Davonta Cook, 5-11, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Shooting Guard, Class of 2019 - Has a good shooting touch. Plays tremendous defense. Has to cut down on turnovers and control the ball more on offense.


Mervin Hope, George Westinghouse High School, 6-4, Forward, Class of 2020 - Needs more strength. Has great length & size. Very solid around the paint. Good ballhandling skills.


Aaron Weeks, George Westinghouse High School, 5-11, Shooting Guard, Class of 2019 - Attacks the basket. Needs to finish layups consistently. Plays good defense.


Jaquan Carlos, Thomas Jefferson High School Campus, 5-10, Point Guard, Class of 2021 - Goes to the basket efficiently. Has great playmaking ability. Has plenty of quickness in his game.


Marcus Burnett, Thomas Jefferson High School Campus, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Class of 2020 - Displays a nice shooting touch. Good ball handling skills. Knows how to penetrate into the lane.


Kareem Welch, Thomas Jefferson High School Campus, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Class of 2019 - Scrappy & tenacious defender. Can shoot from long-range. Has good hustle.
