NY vs. NY Week 4 Top Performers

On Tuesday, July 23, we got to the Monsignor Kett Playground in the Inwood section of Manhattan for Week 4 of the NY vs. NY Tournament, which is the final regular season matchup before the start of the playoffs, which will be next week at Parque de Los Niños Playground (home of the Watson Classic) in the Soundview section of The Bronx. On this date, there were two games that ended up being thrillers and ended up as close games. In the first matchup, the defending champion, Gersh Park got the win after fending off the resilient West 4th. Then in the second game, the home team, Dyckman, knocked off a Manhattan counterpart, Tri-State, who was up for a large portion of the game. Here are the standouts from Tuesday night’s games:


Tai Turnage 6-0, Point Guard, St. Raymond High School, West 4th Street, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt on the court with his leadership and his ability to control a team. Has a penchant for making clutch shots, which can come from three-point range. Is fearless when it comes to driving to the basket, as he has the ability to absorb contact and get to the free-throw line.


Sebastian Wilkins, 6-8, Forward, Brewster Academy (NH), West 4th Street, Class of 2025 - A forward that has the ability to play inside and out and has the ability to be a solid contributor to any team that he’s a part of. Is able to put the ball on the floor and is able to drive to the basket and even throw down emphatic dunks. Is able to hit shots from three-point range, especially from the corner.


Jah’da Swann 6-6, Shooting Guard, Thomas Jefferson Campus, Gersh Park, Class of 2026 - A guard that has a penchant for being a high energy guy on the offensive end and is able to hold his own in the post, if needed, due to his long wingspan. Is able to crash the boards for rebounds and is able to use his athleticism on both ends of the court, due to his good hands and quick instincts. Likes to drive to the basket, where he is a good finisher and is known for completing alley-oop passes that are thrown to him.


Christian Jeffrey 6-3, Point Guard, Mount Zion Academy (MD), Gersh Park, Class of 2025 - A guard that has excellent court vision and has the ability to run a team when on the floor. Is known for finding ways to make sure that his teammates have the opportunity to score. Has the ability to make pull-up jumpers when on the offensive end and is able to stick with his man on the defensive end.


Harvin Guevara 6-10, Forward, James Monroe Educational Campus, Gersh Park, Class of 2025 - A forward that has a long wingspan and has the ability to use his length to be an intimidating presence for his team. Has good hands and has the ability to stymie the opposition with his hands, as he is able to block shots. Has the ability to be a formidable force around the paint area, as he is able to make hook shots and even throw down powerful dunks on the offensive end.


Yandel German 5-10, Point Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Tri-State Classic, Class of 2027 - A guard that has plenty of hustle and plenty of energy when he steps out on the floor. Is very quick on both ends of the floor, as he is prone to sticking with his man and forcing the opposition into turning the ball over so that he can make a steal. Is able to get to the basket easily and finish efficiently at the basket.


Jordan Skyers 6-2, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Tri-State Classic, Class of 2026 - A guard that has the ability to make plenty of high-energy plays when he’s on the offensive end. Knows how to play tough defense & guard the opposition heavily. Is a player that loves to drive to the basket and can finish efficiently, whether with a layup or a slam dunk.


Kaelen Destin 6-1, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Tri-State Classic, Class of 2025 - A guard that is fearless when he steps on the court, as he is always looking to make a statement when he’s on the floor. Has a penchant for making tough shots, including long three-point shots. Is able to stick with his man defensively, as he is able to force the opposition into turning the ball over.


Jermel Thomas 6-2, Point Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Dyckman, Class of 2026 - A guard that has the ability to be a great playmaker, as he is able to make the right plays when the opportunity presents itself. Is able to distribute the ball to his teammates, as they’re moving around the court or if they’re open. Is able to slice and dice his way to the basket & finish efficiently.


Brandon Lee 6-4, Shooting Guard, The Patrick School (NJ), Dyckman, Class of 2025 - A guard that has a penchant for making his presence felt on the floor on offense, as he is able to create for himself offensively. Is able to move around off the ball and is able to get free to be able to shoot from three. Has the ability to drive to the basket and is able to finish efficiently & drive through contact.


Nasir Rodriguez 6-6, Shooting Guard, Northfield Mount Hermon School (MA), Dyckman, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to be effective on both ends of the floor. Has a penchant for using his length to obtain rebounds and showcases his toughness by absorbing contact. Is able to shoot from three and also from mid-range and can also drive into the lane & finish strong at the basket, as he is known for his powerful dunks.
