2023 NY Jayhawks-Sterling 17u College Prospects

The New York Jayhawks are one of the Tri-state venerable grass roots basketball programs. Their mission is to provide resources to young men, discipline and access to the the highest level of competition and excellence in academics. From the Power 6 to the Ivy League, Jayhawks currently have alumni student-athletes attending some of the most prestigious academic and athletic institutions, from High Major to High Academic programs.


The Jayhawks 17u HGSL (Hoop Group Summer League) team is coached by NYC veteran talent developer Scott Sterling . Sterling was recently named a College Placement All Star for his work on behalf of getting his players placed onto college teams. Below are the college prospects on his team this season:


Khalil Baker (2023) 6’5, 250lbs forward, New York Military Academy - Baker is a skilled forward who has the ability to handle the ball, score inside and out, shoot with range, defend the post and rebound at a very high level.  Skilled ball handler, adept at finishing around the rim with the ability to finish above the rim. A BULLY.  2.6 Gpa


Andre Bowles (2023) 6’5, 170lbs wing, Murry Bergtraum High - Bowles is a very crafty lefty with the ability to score on all three levels. Excellent at playing the passing lanes on the defensive end and coming up with steals. Finishes well in traffic. Can knock down the 3. Gritty player. Led Murray Bergtram to back-to-back borough championships. 2.5 Gpa


DJ Victory (2023) 5’7, 165lbs point guard, Scotland Campus (PA) - Victory is a lightning quick point guard who gets anywhere he wants on the floor. Finishes through, around, and over size in the paint with an array of floaters, layups and spinning finishes. DJ is a floor general. Getting teammates involved in the offense at a very high level. A bulldog on defense, picks up guards 94 feet and makes them work. Much improved shooter off the catch and off dribble. 3.0 Gpa


Jake Devaney (2023) 6’5, 185lbs, wing, New York Military Academy -  Devaney is a do-it-all wing who can impact a game in many ways. Smooth shooting lefty with the ability to create his own shot, plays above the rim and is fearless attacking the rim. Relentless rebounder (elite on the glass for his position) , Very solid on ball defender who gets in the passing lanes. Reigning NEPSAC Class D MVP. 4.0 Gpa


Jaylin Simmons (2023) 6’0, 180lbs point guard, Scotland Campus (PA) - Simmons is a very crafty lead guard who has the ability to shoot the ball with deep range, or get into the paint and finish or make plays for his teammates. Strong ballhandler with a high basketball IQ, Jaylin gets to his spot on the floor. Defensively, Jaylin is a hard work adept at getting into the passing lanes and picking up steals that ignite his fast break. Elite finisher in transition. Variety of layups, floaters etc. 3.0 Gpa


Precise Clark (2023) 6’9, 275lbs, forward New York Military Academy - Clark is a presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. Finishes very strong in the paint. Plays above the rim. Elite offensive rebounder. Runs the floor hard every play and get early post position. Blocks shots at a very high level. 2.0 Gpa


Allen Myers (2023) 6’9, 205 lbs wing/forward, New York Military Academy - Myers is a very skilled talent with the ability to shoot the ball at a very high level. Can handle the ball out on the perimeter and create his own shot. Very good defensive rebounder. Can guard 1-4 at a very high level. 7’5 wingspan. Very athletic. 3.7 Gpa


Jabi Alberto (2023) 6’7 190lbs point guard - Alberto is a Swiss Army knife. Scottie Pippen with a 3 ball. Can play 1-3 on both ends of the floor at a high level. 94 feet defender who consistently gets into the passing lanes for steals, very solid shooter off the catch, plays above the rim and rebounds.


Jesse Segura (2023) 6’4, 240lbs guard/forward - Segura was the best passer in PSAL this past season. See the floor like a point guard. Can handle the ball extremely well for his size and punishes smaller defenders in the post. Solid shooter of the catch and dribble. Thrives making plays for others, but very capable of scoring when needed. High IQ player.

 

Tyler Reigel (2024) 6’1 combo guard, Mifflinburg Area High (PA) - Reigel is a LIGHTS OUT SHOOTER. Deadly off the catch and with the one dribble pull up. He is strong and physical, finishes through contact. Solid defender. Keeps his man in front of him. Reigel is a low maintenance, high productivity guy capable of scoring in bunches.
