Lightning Amateur Basketball Club is running high level 15u-17u grassroots teams starting this spring. The program is run by Naasir Williams.


The 17u team is competing on the UA Rise Circuit. Below are players, all the college prospects, on their roster. They are coached by Williams, Mike Spisto, Sr and Errol Blake.

 

#0 Oke Orakato (2024) 6’9 center, Christ The King High - An impressive physical specimen who has really worked hard on his body and physique.


#1 Abdoul Konate (2024) 6’5 shooting guard, S3 Academy (VA) - Konate is a natural born scorer with off the charts athleticism.


#10 Vere Anthony (2024) 6’0 point guard, St Francis Prep - Could be best PG in the NYC, ultimate winner, does whatever is asked of him, defends at a high level and causes opposing guards to have nightmares. Has D1 offers.


#12 Jordan Gabriel (2024) 6’8 power forward, Archbishop Stepinac High - Gabriel has an inside-out game. The CHSAA City Champion is a growing his blip size on the college scouts’ radar.


#15 Jahmire Brewer (2024) 6’7 power forward, Archbishop Molloy High - The athletic wing can finish in traffic, loves to get to rim, rebounds well and has some range as well.


#21 Qadir Martin (2024) 6’6 forward, St Peters High - Martin is comfortable on the wing, can be a big in a small ball lineup and is comfortable creating with the ball in his hands. His wingspan and athleticism allow him to be such a tough defender, rebounder, and rim protector. Drawing D1 interest.


#24 Kassius Paulin (2024) 6’6 small forward, Monsignor Scanlan High - Paulin is a lanky guard that can knock down open 3’s.  He has a knack for rebounding and finishing at the cup.


#25 Tajae Jones (2024) 6’8 small forward,  St George’s School (RI) - Jones has an extremely high motor. He is a terrific rebounder on both ends of the court. He is aggressive attacking the hoop and seeks out contact. He finishes through contact well. He is also very good defender that can guard 1-4.


#34 Daye Kaba (2024) 6’5 point guard, The Patrick School (NJ) - Kaba has a very smooth game and is very crafty. Is able to make very smooth drives to the basket and can attack the lane with his dribble. Has a nice smooth jumper with a nice follow through on his jumpshot. Is very fearless when it comes to driving to the basket.


#50 Jayden James (2024) 6’5 point guard, Archbishop Molloy High - James is a creative point guard who gets to the basket at will using his length to finish above and around his defender. The lengthy guard has a quick first step making him a tough cover off the bounce. Jayden see his teammates and he gets them the ball while their open verses when he’s in trouble.


#54 Mike Spisto, Jr (2024) 5’9 point guard, St Peters High - True point guard, quick first step and pushes tempo, elite facilitator in transition and in the half court, knock down shooter with range.
