2025 New York Lighting HGSL 17u Player Profiles

The New York Lightning (NYL) is one of the region’s most highly regarded grassroots programs, known for producing high talent, high character college-bound players and being stacked with a deep bench of excellent coaches. The program is co-directed by Dana Dingle and Shandue McNeill.
Their 17u HGSL team that is coached by Kaa’mar “Kay” LaBrew, and they compete in the Hoop Group Showcase League circuit.
2025 New York Lighting HGSL 17u team roster is as follows.
Hunter Frazier (2027) 6’8 forward, Eagle Academy-Brooklyn - 3.4 gpa
Greg Reyes (2026) 6’5 small forward, Eagle Academy-Brooklyn - 3.6 gpa
Chase Beasley (2026) 6’3 guard, Eagle Academy-Brooklyn
Elijah Avery-Turner (2026) 6’2 guard, MacDuffie School (MA) - Avery-Turner is a tenacious guard that possesses the ability to finish above the rim with impressive athleticism. His intense work ethic is outmatched on and off the court. Defensively, he forces turnovers and crowds the passing lanes. Fast twitch guard off the dribble with fluid shooting form on all spots of the floor. He has great court vision finding his teammates in transition. MacDuffie considers Avery-Turner to be one of the top combo guards in New England. 3.8 gpa
Toby Foster (2026) 6’1 guard, East Hampton High
Omari Levy (2026) 6’5 wing, Masters School (NY) - 2024-25 All Fairchester Athletic Association First Team. Levy is an athletic and competitive guard. He is a scorer at all 3 levels and good playmaker for others. Levy is a disruptive defender who creates turnovers and excels in both team and individual defense. He is often the game’s leading rebounder. 3.3 gpa
Rob Phelps Jr. (2026) 6’5 guard, Knox School - 3.4 gpa
