2025 NYC Catholic High School Scholastic Showcase Standouts

On Saturday, June 28, we joined about 100 college coaches at Preparatory School in New Rochelle, NY for the 2025 NYC Catholic High School Athletic Association Team Camp, which was a showcase for college coaches to come out and evaluate all 30 schools in the league. Throughout the weekend, college coaches of all levels (NCAA D1, D2 and D3) came out to check out some of the best in New York City and Westchester County. Here are the standouts that we got eyes on at the event:

 

Strahinja Zelic 6-11, Forward, Christ the King High School, Class of 2028 - A forward that has the ability to make his presence felt in the low post and shows plenty of length and versatility. Has the ability to put the ball on the floor and is able to drive to the basket and finish efficiently. Is able to hold the fort while in the post area and can obtain rebounds and block shots.

 

Judah “Juice” Bontemps 5-8, Point Guard, Christ the King High School, Class of 2027 - A guard that has the ability to use his quickness to his advantage when he has the ball in his hands. Knows when to distribute to his teammates, which gives them the opportunity to score. Has an affinity to hit pull-up mid-range jumper and can also drive to the basket efficiently.

 

Payton Wilson 6-8, Forward, Holy Cross High School, Class of 2028 - A forward that has the ability to hold his own in the post. Has great lateral movement and great footwork, which he uses to pivot around the basket to score, where he is able to finish efficiently. Has the ability to attack the glass to obtain rebounds.

 

Jahzir Crawford 5-10, Point Guard, Holy Cross High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that is able to hold his own when it comes to controlling the tempo for his team. Has a penchant for making smooth moves down court and can dish the ball to his teammates. Has the ability to get to the basket and finish strongly and can also attack the basket, as well as hit pull-up jumper from the key.

 

Shane Lopez 5-10, Point Guard, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2028 - A guard that has excellent court vision and has the ability to showcase his playmaking skills. Is able to distribute the ball to his teammates, which helps them find ways to score. Has an affinity for hitting flowers off of the top of the key and is also a good finisher. Finds ways to get open when on the wing, so that he can get his shot off.

                               

Kayleeb George 6-6, Forward, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2027 - A forward that has the ability to showcase his length and can hold his own in the paint area. Is a very explosive player, as he is known for going to the basket and finishing at the rim strongly. Has great hands, which aids in him obtaining rebounds and is known for blocking shots on the defensive end.

 

Brice Yancey 6-0, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2028 - A guard that has the ability to make plays on the court and can attack in transition. Loves to play in a fast break setting and has the ability to drive to the basket & can finish strong. Is a huge defensive threat, as he is able to obtain steals, which leads to an offensive possession. Has a nice jumper from three-point range.


Amare Snipes 6-2, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that has the ability to use plenty of length and skill to outwork the opposition. Has a penchant for attacking in transition, as he is able to drive to the basket and finish smoothly. Is able to get his shot off when he is by the three-point line, as he has a nice shooting touch.

 

Malik Fields 6-3, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2026 - A guard with plenty of toughness and skill and is able to hold his own when on the court. Is very fearless & is able to drive to the basket and can absorb contact and can finish through the lane. Knows when to get his shot off, whether in and out of three-points range.

 

Tommy Wolf 6-4, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2027 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt in the backcourt. Is a smooth playmaker that is able to find ways to get to the hole. Has a nice shooting touch, as he is known for hitting both mid-range and long-range jumpers. Is able to finish in transition and is fearless when going to the basket.

 

Elijah Joseph 6-9, Forward, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2027 - A forward that knows how to control the post area and can also show off his versatility on both ends of the court. Is able to run the floor efficiently and has great hands, which aid in him obtaining rebounds and blocking shots. Is able to put the ball on the floor, as he is able to make smooth moves to the basket and is able to show off his athleticism, when throwing down dunks.
