Brother Stoldt Series - College Prospects

RecruitTheBronx.com dropped into New Rochelle at Iona Prep for a game in the Brother Stoldt Classic. With the pandemic protocols preventing Iona Prep and Archbishop Stepinac from playing a full schedule against their traditional NYC CHSAA foes, they instead set up a best-of-seven series between each other and named it the Brother Stolt Classic. This series gives the significant number of college prosepcts from these two programs the opportunity to get some game film from this otherwise lost season.  Here are the standouts for Game 2 of the series:

 

Malcolm Chimezie 6-8, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2021 - A player with a lot of size & strength. Finds ways to intimidate the opposition and can get his way at the rim or with floaters when it comes to scoring points. Attacks the paint on the offensive glass. Has great rebounding tendencies and is able to block shots with ease.

 

Samuel Gibbs 6-3, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2021 - A guard that is very crafty and makes plenty of solid plays when it comes to facilitating to his teammates. Has excellent court vision where he can see his teammates moving around in different places. Has a good scoring prowess and is a player that can get to the basket with ease.

 

Isaiah Alexander 6-7, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2021 - A forward that has long arms and has plenty of athleticism. Is very active on the boards and establishes his presence in the paint area, when it comes to tip-ins. Has the ability to handle the ball and can see the court off the dribble.

 

Jacob Hogarth 6-8, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2024 - A forward that is an imposing figure and can hold his own in the low post. Is able to absorb contact when going up for baskets and is easily able to draw fouls. Has a penchant for blocking shots and getting rebounds.

 

Joel Baez 6-5, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2022 - A guard with a long wingspan that has a nice shooting touch from long range. Has a great affinity for scoring in multiple ways. Finds ways to move off the ball and tries to be available for open shots. Has good defensive tendencies as far as on the ball defense.

 

Johnuel Fland 6-1, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that knows how to control a team and is very poised. Never gets rattled when the defense is coming. Knows when to pass and when to score . Has a nice shooting touch from long range & has good defensive tendencies.

 

Joshua Zangerle 6-5, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2021 - A forward that is a physical specimen and can attack the glass with precision. Has great defensive tendencies and can block shots and establish his presence in the low post. Is good for scoring in the paint area and is able to absorb contact.

 

Francisco Mattei 6-0, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2022 -A guard that has good court vision and is able to create space to operate in the lane. Is able to shoot from long range. A player that is smart and knows how to create off the dribble and finds many ways to score. Has a good feel for the game.

 

Lawrence Mitchell 6-2, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has plenty of energy and athleticism and is always focused and alert when it comes to the defensive end. Is always poised to get rebounds and blocks and is just quick to go after the ball at all times. Is known for driving to the basket, but can also play above the rim.

 

Blaise New 5-11, Point Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has excellent court vision and is very shifty when he has the ball in his hands. His best asset is his ability to shoot from long range. When left open, he can break a team with his penchant for knocking down shots.

 

Isaac Gonzalez 6-1, Point Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - A guard that is able to control the team’s movements when he has the ball in his hands. Has plenty of quickness and is able to get across the court in a timely fashion. Is very fearless when it comes to getting into the lane.

 

RJ Greene 6-4, Forward, Iona Preparatory school, Class of 2022 - A forward that uses his strength to his advantage when he goes to the hole for the layup. Has the ability to make hustle plays and displays plenty of energy for his teams. Has the tools to be a great rebounder and is able to use his strength to edge out the opposition for the ball.

 

Orlando Wallace 6-9, Forward, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - A forward that is an imposing presence in the low post and is able to use his physicality to impose his will in the paint area. Is a solid rebounder and uses his arms to intimidate smaller defenders when they drive into the lane. Has good post moves on the offensive end.

 

Jaylen Pray 6-7, Forward, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2024 - A forward that is able to get into the lane and stick with his defender. Has good moves in the paint and is able to attack the glass with precision. Uses his physical frame to absorb contact in when going up for a basket.

 

Andy Kim 6-3, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - A guard that is very smooth when bringing the ball up the court and has a great passing ability. Has the ability to get steals and can stick with his defender at all times. Has a knack for scoring with ease on the offensive end.
