Tri State Classic The League - 3/12/21

On Friday night, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to the Yonkers PAL gymnasium for the Tri-State Classic, The League game play. Teams from around the City came out to play a competitive brand of basketball as a way to get ready for the summer season. Here are the standouts from the three games:

 

Tai Turnage 5-9, Point Guard, St. Raymond High School, Ave Life, Class of 2025 - A guard that is very crafty and can see where his teammate are moving on the floor in order to get the ball to his teammates. When driving to the basket, he possesses plenty of fearlessness and can absorb contact despite his lithe frame.

 

Jaylen Murray 6-0, Point Guard, Springfield Commonwealth Academy (MA), Ave Life, Class of 2021 - A guard that is known for his flashiness, he is also known for getting to the basket with ease. Is able to control the game when he has the ball in his hands and is able to make sure that he can distributes the ball to his teammates. Has a good penchant for playing tough defense, which is key in getting steals.

 

Kenny Fields 5-10, Point Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Ave Life, Class of 2023 - A guard that has a smooth game and is able to run in transition. Is very poised when it comes to playing his game & never seems to get rattled on the floor. Picks when it is time to shoot & when to pass the ball.

 

Diovion Middleton 6-3, Shooting Guard, Wings Academy, Ave Life, Class of 2023 - A guard that has plenty of toughness in his game and knows when to push the ball up the court. Has plenty of physicality when it comes to posting up smaller defenders. Is a solid rebounder who is able to get the ball and get up court easily.

 

Sterling Jones 5-10, Point Guard, Christ the King High School, Ave Life, Class of 2021 - A guard that has good quickness and is a great scoring threat that can also dish it out to teammates. Has a penchant for driving to the lane and also shooting from three-point range. Is very hard to contain when he is open.

 

Takal Simpkins 6-3. Shooting Guard, Victory Christian Center High School (NC), Ave Life, Class of 2022. - A guard is quick and deceptive on the court & is able to get to the basket with ease. Has plenty of finesse in his game and uses it to get into the lane with ease. Has plenty of athleticism to get into the lane when going up for a dunk or goes up for a rebound.

 

Tajuan Simpkins 6-3, Shooting Guard, Victory Christian Center High School (NC), Ave Life, Class of 2022. - A guard that is great at scoring with ease and can get into the lane by driving with the ball. Is great at creating for himself when it comes to scoring. Has a penchant for shooting from long range.

 

Alberto Vargas 5-10, Shooting Guard, WHEELS, The Real Deal, Class of 2021 - A guard that is quic with his handle and is able to get to the basket easily. Has good defensive tendencies and has a penchant for getting steals that he converts into fast break points for the offense. Gives his team much needed energy when he’s on the floor.

 

Jalen Sabino 5-9, Point Guard, WHEELS, The Real Deal, Class of 2021 - A guard that is very shifty on the offensive end and finds ways to get to the basket with ease. Has the ability to run on the fast break and can get to the bucket to score. Has the ability to pass the ball and is superb when it comes to setting his teammates in positions to score.

 

Randy Crosby 6-1, Point Guard, WHEELS, The Real Deal, Class of 2021 - A guard that has the ability to score on a high level. Is able to shoot the ball and is able to get into the lane and has good moves when it comes to handling the ball. Has the ability to give his teammates the ball and is great and controlling and running a team and adjusting speeds.

 

Rafael Castro, 6-10, Forward, Dover High School (NJ), Topper All-Stars, Class of 2021 - A forward that stands out above the rest in many categories, including stature. Uses his length & height to tower over defenders & is able to dominate the game on both ends of the court. Is able to move on offense with his ballhandling skills & has the ability to shoot from long range.

 

Maurice Odum, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Union City High School (NJ), Topper All-Stars, Class of 2022 - A guard that shows off his quickness and is known for scoring in bunches. Is great at getting steals and playing defense and running a team on the fast break. Is able to see where his teammates are moving and pass them the ball so they can score.


Bruce Tulloch 6-5, Forward, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Topper All-Stars, Class of 2021 - A forward that is a physical presence when he’s on the floor. Is able to attack the glass when it comes to getting rebounds and uses his strength when it comes to being able to maneuver in the low post. Is able to play above the rim.


Rahiem Harley 6-1, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Topper All-Stars, Class of 2021 - A guard that has plenty of flash in his game and is able to establish his ability to be a lead guard. Knows when to attack the lane and when to pass the ball at all times. Is a player that can score in multiple ways.


Richard Smith 6-3, Shooting Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Topper All-Stars, Class of 2022 - A guard that is crafty and can create for himself when it comes to handling the ball. Is able to score in bunches when he has the ball & is a player that has plenty of explosion when driving into the lane. Has very good hands on the defensive end and can obtain steals.

 

Donta Davis 6-3, Shooting Guard, Immaculate Conception High School (NJ), P.O.T., Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for playing on the ball when on the defensive end. Knows when to attack the lane and is able to get past his defenders when it comes to his handle. Is great at using his strength to get rebounds.

 

Malcolm Eley, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Hudson Catholic High School (NJ), P.O.T., Class of 2021 - A guard that is able to find multiple ways to score and is able to play above the rim when he goes up for a dunk. Knows when to settle for a shot and is able to kick it out to teammates to give them opportunities to score. Has plenty of toughness when on the court.

 

Tyler Hawkins 5-8, Point Guard, Mount St. Michael Academy, Debo’s All-Stars, Class of 2022 - A guard that makes good decisions on the floor and has excellent court vision when it comes to offense. Is fearless when driving to the basket & can absorb physical contact when driving to the lane. Is great at distributing to his teammates at the right moments.


Vernon Simmons 6-3, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Debo All-Stars, Class of 2021 - A guard that has plenty of energy when going up for dunks and has a knack for showcasing his athleticism. Makes strong drives to the hole when driving into the lane. Has a good jumper, which he can use at times.
