Long Island Lutheran vs. Archbishop Stepinac 3/23/21

On Tuesday night, RecruitTheBronx.com made it to Archbishop Stepinac High School In White Plains, as the Crusaders played in the first of a two-game series against Long Island Lutheran High School. Because of the pandemic, schools from New York City are not able to play games, but both LUHI and Stepinac are located outside of the City where their respective health departments gave the schools the green light to play games this year. Here are the standouts from Tuesday night’s game:

 

Malcolm Chimezie 6-8, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2021 - Chimezie has committed to play for Boston University of the high academic Patriot League. A player that is physically imposing and has a lot of strength. Finds ways to intimidate the opposition and can play above the rim or make floaters when it comes to scoring points. Is able to hold his own on the offensive glass. Is a great rebounder and can block shots at all times.


Samuel Gibbs 6-3, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2021 - A guard that is crafty and makes plenty of great plays when it comes to passing the ball to his teammates. Has great court vision where he can see his teammates moving around in different places and can distribute the ball to them at the right time. Knows when & how to drive into the lane to score.

 

Isaiah Alexander 6-7, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2021 - A forward that has long arms and is very athletic player on both ends of the court. Is very active when it comes to getting rebounds and establishing his presence in the paint area, when it comes to tip-ins. Has the ability to put the ball on the floor and can create for himself off the dribble.

 

Jacob Hogarth 6-8, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2024 - A forward that is physically imposing and uses his strength to dominate his own in the low post. Is able to absorb contact when going up for two and is easily able to draw fouls so that he can go to the free throw line. Has a knack for blocking shots and getting rebounds.

 

Joel Baez 6-5, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a nice shooting touch from long range and can play on the perimeter. Has an affinity for scoring in multiple ways. Is great at moving off the ball and tries to be free for open shots. Has good defensive tendencies as far as staying on the ball defensively.

 

Johnuel Fland 6-1, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that knows how to control a team on the floor and is very poised when it comes to him having the ball in his hands. Never gets rattled when the defense is guarding him. Knows when to pass and when to score the ball. Has a nice shooting touch from long range & has good defensive tendencies, which include guarding the opposition and getting steals.

 

Joshua Zangerle 6-5, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2021 - A forward that has great strength and can attack the glass with precision. Has great defensive tendencies and has the ability to block shots and has a strong presence in the low post. Is good for scoring in the paint area and is able to absorb contact in order to draw fouls as a way to get to the free-throw line.

 

Francisco Mattei 6-0, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has great skills for his position and is able to create space to operate in the lane. Is able to shoot from long range and finds wars to get open on the perimeter. A player that has a great IQ and knows how to create off the dribble and finds many ways to be effective on the floor.

 

Jayden Reid 5-9, Point Guard, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that can space the floor and make plenty of plays on the floor. Is a player that can create for himself offensively & can make plenty of big shots when the right opportunity presents itself. Sees his teammates at all times and gives them passes at the right moments.

 

Andres Pinzon 6-5, Shooting Guard, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2021 - A guard that is known for driving to the lane and has plenty of playmaking ability. Has the ability to make shots from the outside. Is great at finding multiple ways to score and is fearless when going up for two at the basket.

 

Kasper Klaczek 6-8, Forward, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2021 - A forward that is very dominant in the paint area on both ends of the court. Is very physically imposing and is bound to get rebounds and block shots at all times. Has a nice shooting touch from 15 feet & can also put the ball on the floor.

 

Ryan Dunn 6-6, Shooting Guard, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2021 - A guard that has speed and size and uses his long arms as an advantage on the floor. Has great athleticism and is known for his playmaking ability. Makes plenty of great decisions when handling the ball and also scoring.

 

Drissa Traore 6-8, Forward, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2021 - A forward that is very mobile and hardworking around the paint area. Is very fearless on both ends of the floor and has a penchant for getting rebounds and blocks at the biggest moments. Uses his upper body strength to get to the rim & can find ways to score when on offense.

 

Jayden Pierre 6-1, Point Guard, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has slick offensive tendencies and makes great highlight-reel plays. Is very quick and makes good decisions with the ball. Is very careful and does not turn the ball over. Uses his quickness to his advantage at all times.

 

Paul Jordan 6-6, Forward, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2021 - A forward with great lateral movement and good footwork on the floor. A player that is fearless when putting the ball on the floor and going up to score two. Has a penchant for rebounding and driving into the lane to score. Knows how to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line.
