April 9th, 2021 60 players from Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts made a stop at Newtown Youth Academy this Friday evening for the Elite 50 College Showcase. Here are your top performers:

Demian Vial (2023) 6’0 guard, Farfield Warde High (CT) - A guard who understands change of speed and direction. Quick and plays at his own pace. Was very hard to guard all evening. Breaking defenders down and getting to the basket at will. A good on ball defender with good hands. D3 coaches were impressed.

Sean Clemons (2022) 5’10 guard, St Lukes School (CT) - One of the best all-around point guards at the showcase. He is a total floor general with 3pt range. Always playing downhill and seeing the open man.

Yaniel Hernandez (2022) point guard, Fitch High (CT)- A very headsie point guard with a very high IQ. His speed and mobility got him over the top of most guards at the showcase. With impressive 3pt range. He was a leader and very Coachable.

Mason Cottrell (2023) 6’1 guard, East Catholic High (CT) - Cottrell finished well with left and right. Has a very good first step on offense. Attack the rim the entire night and made the open 3 if left open.

Austin Turkis (2021) E.O. Smith High (CT)- very versatile 6’4 player. Rebounded consistently at the rim. And finished at the rim. Very aggressive on the defensive end. Hit the offensive board all night.

Aidan May (2023) 6’0 guard, Fairfield Prep (CT) - The lefty guard showed he is a flat-out shooter. Hit four threes in a row to start the showcase. Not only can he catch and shoot but, he can hit threes in transition off the dribble. Aidan will be a player to watch out for at Fairfield Preparatory next season.

Justin Philips (2022) 5’9 guard, Granby Memorial High (CT)- The undersized guard plays bigger than he looks. Arguably the best lead guard at the showcase. He was a blur in the open court and continuously made plays for his teammates and himself. Showed the ability to make the right plays off the high screen. Justin is a player coaches should come to watch this spring.

Brandon Cary-Green (2023) Trumbull High (CT) - The versatile big showed that he has been working on his game. Last we saw him play he was a rebounder and a dumb down guy. Brandon showed he can handle the ball in transition and catch and shoot. Brandon should continue to progress as the spring season continues.

Malik Rivers (2022) 5’7 guard, Stamford High (CT) - The 5’7 guard was a nightmare on defense. Guarded the ball 94 ft. Played well in the open court, must add a change of pace in his game and he will grow as an offensive player.

Jordan Chamberlain (2022) 5’11 Paramus Catholic (NJ) - Poised guard, never in a rush on the offensive end. Played well off the ball and in the pick and roll. Jordan knocks down open shots. Continues to get better every time we see him.

George Brito (2021) 6’0 guard, Amity High (CT) - Big guard, aggressive going to the basket. George uses his body when attacking the basket.

Camden Rodriguez-Shaw (2021) 5’10 guard, East Longmeadow High (MA)  - 3pt threat. Penetration was great entire showcase. High level guard, that defends on the ball very well. High IQ , and very Coachable.

Luke Penna (2023) guard, Southington High (CT) - Luke showed he is not just an outsidePut the ball on the floor and made plays for his teammates and himself. Hit two threes in every game he played in.

Calvin Monte (2023) 6’6 forward, Old Lyme High (CT) - Strong big who is adding to his game. Finishes at the rim and rebounds the ball in his area. The more basketball he plays the better he will become. Will continue to develop through the spring and summer.

Caden Monte (2023) 6’6 forward, Old Lyme High (CT) - A forward who runs the floor well. Rebounds well and finishes around the basket. Monte had a variety of moves around the hoop and like his 15ft and in midrange shot.

Jason Robinson (2023) 6’4 guard, Crosby High (CT) - A big guard who is long and isn’t quite down growing yet. Thrives in the open floor and uses his body to get to the basket or finish around the rim. Sneaky athletic.

Luke Nieman (2021) 5’11 guard, Chwshire High (CT) - A big time threat from the 3-point line whether it’s catch and shoot or shooting off the dribble. Nieman has a beautiful stroke and was able to get his shot off due to playing under control and at his own pace.

Loudon Chupas (2022) 6’3 guard, Hake Ray High (CT) - Lefty guard who loves to attack and is hard to guard when going downhill. Decent spot up shooter from 3.

Odin Malz (2023) 6’6 forward, St Bernard School (CT) - A forward who understands where he needs to be on the floor to be successful. Good post moves around the basket and finishes around the hoop.

Anthony Fry (2021) guard, Stonington High (CT) - Mr. Hustle all evening. Fry created extra scoring opportunities for himself by crashing the boards, getting out in transition and getting to lose balls. His energy was unmatched every time he stepped on the floor.

Rhodia Perry V (2022) 5’11 guard, New London High (CT)- strong physical guard that finishes in traffic. College range on his jumper, and a very strong defender on and off the ball.

Andy Kote (2022) 6’3 guard, John Jay High - Kote understands how to play and doesn’t try to do what he can’t. He made the right passes, converted easy baskets around the rim and hit open 3’s.

Dimani McEachron (2022) 6’1 guard, Harding High (CT)- Attacked the basket all evening with floater or crafty finishes around the hoop. He liked getting to his 15ft pull up as well.
