2021 RTB Frosh/Soph Showcase

Below are the participants for the RecruitTheBronx.com 2021 Frosh/Sophomore showcase.


In addition to 5 on 5 play, the participants had the option of participating in a 3 point shooting contest, an one on one championship and a speed dribbling race.

 


Class of 2024

 

AJ Abusaab (2024) 6’0 guard, Syosset High, AAU Team: Level Up LI - Abusaab is capable of taking over any game. His ability to create his own shot and attack in traffic makes him a constant scoring threat. He is also able to make the proper pass, after drawing help-defenders. 3.9 gpa

 

Alex Ander 6’5 wing, High School: TBD, AAU Team: Team NYC - Ander has good length and is fast and mobile. He is a good finisher around the rim. He is also a shot blocker in defense.

 

Nathan Antoniuk (2024) 6’1 swing, Carmel High - Antoniuk is a lefty who is a that can spread the defense with his shooting and passing skills. He has a good mid-range game, and can also shoot the 3. He operates as a floor general, with his head always up, he gets entire team involved. His high basketball IQ on both offense and defense helps teams win games

 

Jaylen Brown (2024) 6’3 wing Baldwin Senior High, AAU Team(s): NY Jayhawks and NY Lightning - Brown is a deadly long-range shooter with strong ball handling skills and a knack for doing the right thing on the court. He rarely turns the ball over, sees the floor well and he sets up his teammates. With his physical maturity, he is improving his rebounding, ability to absorb contact and get to the basket. Brown is a steady, high IQ player.  3.9 gpa

 

Timothy Charles (2024) 6’10 forward Olympus Prep (NJ) AAU Team:Team NYC - Charles is developing many parts of his offensive game, but he already uses his length to impressively rebound, block shots and defend the rim. 


Isaiah Christopher (2024) 6’4 small forward, High School: tdb, AAU Team: Team NYC - Christopher is also from Antigua, and is still shopping for an American highh school to attend in the fall. He has good size for his age. His defense is his best strength for now, but his upside in general is huge. He finishes strongly around the rim and is a great rebounder. He gets his teammates involved. He is very coachable and is a student of the game.


Jake Cohen (2024) 5’10 guard, St Anthony’s High, AAU Team: Level Up LI - Cohen plays the point with speed and great court vision. He can both shoot the 3 and attack the rim. Cohen runs the floor well and has a high basketball IQ. He is constantly looking for the open player. He is also a tough and gritty defender. 4.0 gpa

 

Jack Connolly (2024) 5’9 point guard, Chaminade High, AAU Team: Level Up LI - Connolly is a talented point guard that has the ability to get to any spot on the floor with the ball. He is a floor general with a great handle who can get to the basket and create for his teammates. He keeps defenders off balance while being able to finish at the rim.


Javonte Devante (2024) 5’7 point guard High School:TBD, AAU Team: Team NYC - Devante is a high energy guard that brings court smarts to the game. He is very good defender.

 

Matt Domenichelli (2024) 6’5 forward, Masuk High (CT), AAU Team: DTX Basketball - Domenichelli is a big body who played varsity ball as a freshman. He rebounds well and is developing his post scoring skills. Domenichelli is coachable and a great teammate.

 

Brian Elmo Jr (2024) 5’10 guard, Trumbull High (CT), AAU Team: DTX Basketball -  Elmo is a strong combo guard with very quick feet which enables him to play lock down on the ball defense.  He is a very good 3 pt shooter and an above average offensive rebounder for his size. Elmo is an unselfish player who uses his handles and burstability to beat his man off the dribble and setup his teammates. 4.2 gpa

 

CJ Fay (2024) 6’0 guard, Notre Dame-Fairfield (CT), AAU Team: Peace - Fay is a prolific scorer, both inside and outside the arc. He finishes well and shoots high numbers from long range. Fay’s ball handling, combined with his exceptional court vision make him an elite leader. He is a defensive menace, racking up steals, blocks and guarding bigger players. He is vocal on defense, and forces ball passes and shots when on the ball. 3.5 gpa

 

Kevin Flowers (2024) 6’0 guard, Rumsey Hall High (CT), AAU Team: New Haven Heat - Flowers is a slinky scoring guard who also locks in on defense. He is crafty around the rim and spreads the floor with his accurate jumper.


Kanye Foster (2024) 5’10 guard Prince Tech High (CT), AAU Team: Hoop Wave - Foster is a floor general with great court vision and the ability to get his teammates involved. He can handle the basketball and get into the lane at will. Foster is also a solid defender that can pressure the basketball and make an impact at both ends of the floor. 3.6 gpa


Brandon Fowler (2024) - 6’0 point guard, Trumbull High (CT), AAU Team: DTX Basketball - Fowler is a two-way point guard who can defend bigger players and provide offense in a number of ways. He has great court vision, can handle with either hand and can break a press. He is a consistent shooter off of the catch or the dribble. Fowler can create his own shot, drive the lane and create open looks for his teammates. He is a strong rebounder for his position. He brings hustle, a strong work ethic, leadership and coachability wherever he goes.


Miguel Gonzalez (2024) 5’7 point guard Palisade Prep High, AAU Team: Westchester Swarm - Gonzalez is a young gifted player with a tremendous upside. He is a quick slasher, who is willing to make the right pass and able to knock down shots from mid to long range. His best qualities are his dedication to his improvement, his confidence in his abilities and his desire to win. Gonzalez is willing to be coached and is a great teammate.


Will Gregory (2024) 6’1 guard, Fordham Prep, AAU Team: 6th Boro Hoops - Gregory is a deadly long-range shooter with strong ball handling skills and a knack for doing the right thing on the court. He rarely turns the ball over and has uncanny court vision; he’s more than willing to set-up teammates. As he has grown taller and stronger, Gregory has improved his ability to absorb contact and get to the basket. Overall, Will’s a steady presence on the floor and clear asset for any team. 4.1 gpa

 

Isaiah Harris (2024) 6’3 guard, Phillips Academy Andover (MA), AAU Team: Rising Stars - Harris is a high IQ playerwho is also physically gifted and has clear upside. He is lethal on defense. On offense, he makes strong slashes to the rim and is a strong finisher. He also can score in the mid-range. He plays with a high motor from start to finish. He is a strong leader and a clear communicator, both on and off of the court. 4.0 gpa


AJ Harold (2024) 5’7 guard, Archbishop Stepinac, AAU Team: DTX Basketball - Harold’s elusive handle and game IQ make him a great team player.  He penetrates easily and can find open teammates. He can also shoot off the dribble by creating space and has good range from behind the arc. Harold has an explosive first step and can finish many ways with either hand. 
High energy player on both sides of the ball. He is above average rebounder for his size and is always trying to make something happen on or off the ball. 4.0 gpa


Alexander Jardin (2024) 6’4 small forward, High School:TBD, AAU Team: Team NYC - Jardin is part of the Donald Francois Carribean-to-USA basketball feeder system. Hailing from Antigua, looking to attend a high school in the States, Jardin is long, and athletic rebounder and shot blocker, who is working hard on adding to his skill set.

 

Isaac John (2024) 5’7 guard, Northeastern Academy (Bronx), AAU Team: Overtime Bandits - John is an energetic combo guard who plays both ends of the floor. Has a strong passion for the game and is very receptive to hard coaching.  Excels in catch and shoot situations.  3.9 gpa


Aidan Karson (2024) 5’10 guard, Greenwich High (CT), AAU Team: High Rise Elite - Karson is a very athletic (holds the school freshman record in the high jump) point guard with great court vision, ball handling and playmaking skills. He lead his high school team in rebounds, assists, and steals, and shot better than 50% from 3. Karsen finishes at the rim consistently, has developed a strong mid range game and can defend bigger players. 3.7 gpa

 

Antwon Katako (2024) 6’3 small forward, Mount St Michaels High, AAU Team: Westchester Swarm - Katako is a versatile young big man, with great hands, shooting touch and footwork. He has advanced post moves for his age, can hit mid range and 3 point shots when left open. He is growing as a defensive prescence, learning how to use his size and athletic ability to be an intimidating force. Katako is working hard to develop his game, building himself into a high impact player.

 

Darren Knowles (2024) 6’0 guard, High School: TBD, AAU Team: Team NYC - Knowles understands the game and creates plays for his teammates. He is very athletic and strong around the rim.


Sriharan Lakshmanaprasath (2024) 6’0 guard, Oxford High (CT), AAU Team: Connecticut Elite - Lakshmanaprasath is an intelligent floor spacer with the ability to create shots for his teammates at a high level. He is a true three level scorer that also takes pride in his defense. Lakshmanaprasathis also a leader who communicates well.

 

Aidan Licata (2024) 6’1 wing, Newtown High (CT), AAU Team: DTX Basketball - Licata effectively uses his length to guard the ball and rebound on both ends of the floor. He is a strong 3-point shooter with a good eye for the court and knows when to make the extra pass. Licata is a team player that is intense and gives 100% of himself. 3.5 gpa

 

Darren Marchong (2024) 5’11 guard Archbishop Molloy High (NY), AAU Team: Rising Stars - Marchong’s basketball IQ surpasses those in his class. He is a true floor general. Not only setting up plays for his teammates, but plays for himself as well. He’s great at making reads, penetrating gaps and finishing at the rim. But, he will take an outside shot when it is presented. He values every possession, and will facilitate the best play for that moment. 3.5 gpa

 

George McCormack (2024) 6’0 shooting guard, Greenwich High (CT) AAU Team: High Rise Elite – McCormack is already an accomplished 3 point shooter, e.g., winning the RTB Livestream 3 Point shooting contest back in November. He is also a good passer and has a very good feel for the game/high basketball IQ.  He led the GHS frosh team to a 6-0 record in 2021’s shortened season. He averaged 17 ppg and shot an All-Conference player level of 42% from beyond the arc. Academic prospect.

 

Devante McDonald (2024) 6’0 guard, High School: TBD, AAU Team: Team NYC - McDonald has the ability to create shots in decisive moments. He can quickly get past defenders and to the rim. He has a good mid-range shot, excellent vertical lift and plays incredible defense.

 

Austin Mejia (2024) 6’0 wing, Regis High, AAU Team: NJ Wolfpack Premier - Mejia is a versatile guard who understands the game and plays with a very high IQ.  He has excellent court vision and can get his teammates involved.  He is able to create a shot from mid-range or beyond the arc and can also get to the rim.  Mejia is a solid defender as well, makes plays on both ends of the court.  He is very coachable, always a student of the game. 3.7 gpa


David Melson (2024) 6’2 shooting guard, Fairfield Warde High (CT), AAU Team: DTX - Melson is an elite shooter with unlimited range. He has a quick release, gets to his spots, and plays with a very high basketball IQ. He sees the floor well, and creates opportunities for his teammates. Played on the varsity as a freshman at Warde. 3.7 gpa


Ben Miller (2024) 6’0 guard, Trumbull High (CT) AAU Team: DTX Basketball - Miller is a combo guard who can score the ball at an elite level. H e shoots the 3 ball very well. He can create his own shot and get to the rim.Miller is also good at finding the open man and getting his teammates involved. 3.7 gpa


Gianni Mirabello (2024) 5’7 point guard, Northwest Catholic High (CT), AAU Team: We R 1 - Mirabello is a quick and gritty floor leader with strong ballhandling skills and a good 3 point shot. He sees the floor and looks to create plays for his teammates. Has a good (coach’s son) understanding of the game . 4.2 gpa.

 

Logan O’Neill (2024) 6’0 guard Greenwich Country Day (CT), AAU Team: High Rise Elite - O’Neill played varsity as a freshman. He is an athletic, slashing wing/guard combo. He has the ability to get to the basket with a quick first step. He is a tenacious defender who loves to pressure the ball. He is steadily expanding his shooting range beyond the arc. O’Neill is very coachable and is a quick study. He is a dedicated hard worker. 3.5 gpa


Mark Ostad (2024) 6’2 guard, Millbrook School, AAU Team: NY Lightning - Over the past months, Ostad has improved drastically, playing with and against high-level NEPSAC college-bound compettion. He can drive and finish around the rim, shoot the mid range, and shoot beyond the arc. He creates plays for himself and his teammates. Ostad has also become a leader who communicates on the floor and with teammates. 4.2 gpa

 

Cameron Perkins (2024) 6’3 small forward, Danbury High (CT), AAU Team: CT Dream – Cameron Perkins is very skilled for his size and capable of putting the ball in the basket from all three levels. He has a good loft and touch on his ball from behind the arc, a knack for putting the ball on the floor to attack close-outs, and a willingness to take smaller defenders into the post. He has a high basketball IQ. 3.2 gpa

 

Charnez Perkins, Jr (2024) 6’0 guard, Danbury High - Perkins has an extra gear in his game and it impacts both ends of the floor. He plays with a lot of pace. He has speed with the ball in the open floor, a quick first-step, great body-control at the rim as a finisher, and has all the tools to be a lockdown defender. As he continues to build-up his floater game and evolve as a perimeter shooter his game will go to the next level. 3.6gpa


Nasir Pettigrew (2024) 5’11 guard, King School (CT) - Pettigrew started on his prep school’s varsity team as an 8th grader and was a star in the making as a freshman last season. He is an aggressive scoring guard that can finish with either hand and has a nice mid range game. He will beat you off the dribble and has a nice pull up jump shot. Pettigrew is a playmaker who sees the floor well. He is at his best attacking the rim in the half court and in transition. He also can shoot the long ball and plays great on-the-ball defense.

 

Kyle Roesser (2024) 6’3 guard, Greens Farms Academy (CT) -, AAU Team: Stamford Peace - Roesser played varsity as a freshman this past season, and he developed a great deal, showing a nice upside. He plays hard and works really hard. He is an excellent shooter and is really coachable. 3.7 gpa

 

Diondre Ross (2024) 5’8 point guard, Danbury High (CT) - Ross sees the floor and creates opportunities for his teammates. He is silky smooth in handling the ball with precision and force, which also allows him top create shots for himself. Ross is quickly becoming a great two way player as he continues to add quickness and body strength.

 

Bernett Scott Jr (2024) 6’0, 210 lbs, point guard Amistad High (CT), AAU Team: New Haven Boys & Girls Club - Scott is a powerful PG with instincts and mindset to balance creating for others with finding his own opportunities. He knocks down open shots, and attacks closeouts to create for others. High IQ decision maker on the offensive end, and excellent “reader” on the defensive end. Vocal leader. Strong student at high academic school.

 

Romell Spaulding (2024) 6’4 small forward, Arlington High, AAU Team: Playmaker University - Slaughter thrives on making plays for his teammates and shooting the mid range. He uses good foot work to also be effective in the post work. He is a shot blocker and playmaker on defense and his rebounding is good.


Malike Smart (2024) 5’10 guard St Francis Presp, AAU Team: Team NYC - Smart is strong and athletic and has the ability to shoot the ball from deep. He attacks the rim with strength and effectiveness. He can defend and rebound well.

 

Lukas Sward (2024) 5’10 point guard, Bristol Eastern High (CT), AAU Team: CT Rebound - Sward has been called “the floor general” because of his stellar ball handling skills and court vision.  He has a real knack for controlling the tempo of the game, leading the fast break, and finding open teammates.  Sward is a drive-n-dish point guard, a strong finisher at the rim and a decent spot up shooter.  He is a tenacious defender, who lives in the passing lanes and loves to pressure the ball.  Sward is a well-rounded hustle player whose team play, positive attitude, and sportsmanship are evident every time he steps onto the court. 3.4 gpa


Darryl Taylor (2024) 6’1 guard, St Mary’s High, AAU Team: Team NYC - Taylor plays both ends of the court. He always gets himself around the ball to create opponent turnovers. Taylor can shoot, rebound and defend very well. He is always looking to make the right play and get everyone involved.


Nicky Tasso (2024) 6’6 swing, Horace Greeley High, AAU Team: Go Torey All Stars - Tasso is a versatile player, ideal for the “postionless” college game style. He possesses good ball skills for his size and is an exceptional passer. He sees the floor well in transition and in the half court. He has a soft shooting touch, with a great mid-range shot, and he can step out and hit the three. He has a defensive presence as a shot blocker and loves playing help defense on backside drivers. His future physical maturation willincrease his strength and his game impact. High academic.


Logan Tolbert (2024) 6’5 forward Walter Panas High, AAU Team: Westchester Swarm - Tolbert is a versatile, rising talent, playing on a talent rich Swarm team. He is a tenacious rebounder and a soild shot blocker. This spring, he has added the ability to be a consistent threat from behind the arc. He is working hard on strength training and filling out his still growing frame.He is a great teammate andhas a great attitude re making himself better. 3.7 gpa

 

Vasillis Triantafyllou (2024) 6’3 small forward, North Shore High, AAU Team: Level Up LI - Triantafllou is a versatile small forward who can both attack the basket and shoot the three. He plays with great energy at both ends of the court. His high effort levels are keys to his teams’ success. Named to the 2021 All Long Island Basketball.com Freshman team. 3.5 gpa

 

Diego Velez (2024) 5’10 guard, Phillips Andover (MA), AAU Team: Scholars Elite - Velez is the prototypical “read n react” type of player. Whether it is on offense or defense, with or without the ball, he shows the ability to understand and execute accordingly. His 3 point shot is really strong. Velez is an old school point guard who wants to get his offense, suffocate you on defense and get his team to play as five in doing so.


Alister Walsh (2024) 6’1 guard, Ridgefield High (CT), AAU Team: High Rise Elite - Walsh is an consummate all-around player. He can play at all 3 levels scoring at the basket, in the mid-range and from long distance. He can finish well through contact and with both hands. Even more impressive is his defense where he takes his opponent out of their game. True toughness taking multiple charges a game. Always playing with a next play mentality he is always ready no matter what happens. Coachable player who any coach would want on the floor.  4.0 gpa

 

Shane Weber (2024) 5’11 small forward, Brookfield High (CT) - The strengths of Webber’s game are his scoring,rebounding, and being aggressive to the basket and being aggressive on defense. His ability to shoot and create his own shot on offense is a big strength. His aggressiveness is a big reason why he’s able to get rebounds and drive to the hole strong. He is also a great 3 point shooter.

 


Class of 2025

 

Elijah Abrams (2025) 6’1 guard, Highland High, AAU Team: Playmaker University - Abrams is an athlete who will rise to the occassion and is a fierce competitor. He is a ball-stopper on defense, his quickness and effort levels make him very difficult to get past. He is an attack-the-basket offensive player. 3.4 gpa


Dominick Anthony (2025) 6’4 guard, High School: tdb, AAU Team:Team NYC - Anthony is from Antigua, and is still shopping for an American high school to attend in the fall.Anthony shows mental toughness and confidence on the court. He is alawys working on improving his craft with his exceptional work ethic. He is a great shooter and rebounder.

 

Raheem Azeez (2025) 6’0 small forward, High School: tbd, AAU Team: Westchester Swarm - Azeez is from Yonkers, NY and always gives his all on both ends of the court. He is a great defender and excels at shot blocking. On the offensive end, Azeez is a good finisher around the post. He can also shoot the ball from beyond the arc. He is currently working hard to upgrade his ball handling. 3.6 gpa

 

Jace Emerson (2025) 6’3 guard Trinity-Pawling School, AAU Team: NY Lightning-EYBL - Emerson has huge upside as he matures. He is a complete two way player with high IQ and the ability to create shots. He scores within the flow of the game, never forcing his game. He is a humble teammate and coachable. 3.8 gpa


Deondrae Farmer (2025) 5’9 point guard, Henry Abbott Technical School (CT) - Farmer is a 5’9” lefty sharpshooter with NBA-distance range. His elusive handles and game IQ shine on the floor, making him a great team player. His left-to-right cross-over is lethal, but he is far from one dimensional off the bounce. He can shoot off the dribble, navigate the lane with fancy footwork. Farmer is also an all-around defender and an above-average rebounder. 3.5 gpa


James Jackson (2025) 5’3 point guard, Hamden High (CT), AAU Team: New Haven Heat - Jackson is an old-school point guard, a floor general who controls the tempo amnd makes sure that he gets his teammates involved in the game. He is a straight dog on defense and does all of the hustle stuff. He can also use his range to spread the floor.

 

Adam Jefferies (2025) 5’5 point guard, Long Island Lutheran, AAU Team: Positive Direction - Jefferies is a shifty and agile point guard who sees the floor very well. While he is firstmost focused on winning and creating for his teammates, he is not shy to step up and take the big shot as needed.

 

Rai Jeffry (2025) 6’1 wing, High School: TBD, AAU Team: Team NYC - Jeffry is a confident shooter when left open. He also has the ability to strongly attack the basket. He has good length that sereves him well at both ends of the court.

 

Freddy Melton (2025) 6’0 swing, King School (CT) - Hailing from the prolific Stamford J youth program, Melton is one of their best. He has an uncanny ability to get shots to fall, and has expanded that range with each year of his physical growth. He uses instinct and motor to significantly out-rebound his height. Plays his team defensive rotations like an much older player. A joy to coach. High academic.


Joshua Masih (2025) 6’1 small forward, High school tbd, AAU team: Westchester Swarm - Masih is a developing talent from Yonkers, NY. He’s naturally a forward, who plays with energy and emotion. He has solid post moves and finishes at high rate around the basket. He enjoys rebounding and giving his all on the defensive end. He has had good growth this spring and looks to be an impact player next year at the school he chooses to attend. Graduated 2nd in his class academically

 

Charles Mirabel (2025) 5’8 Trumbull High (CT), AAU Team: DTX Basketball - Mirabel is a defensive oriented guard, who can also hit open 3’s. He loves to take charges and is a great on-ball defender and team defender. He has developing offensive skills but he plays with heart and passion.

 

Joel Nash (2025) 6’0 guard, Greens Farms Academy (CT), AAU Team: Black Ops Cadets – Nash started at point guard for a NEPSAC prep school varsity team as an 8th grader. He was recruited onto Carmelo Anthony’s NYC based Black Ops Cadets AAU team for national level play. Agile and smooth as a crafty play maker off the dribble. He will also be a serious contender for the Showcase’s 3 point shooting contest title. Strong student at a high academic school.


Ricardo Nieves (2025) 6’1 point guard MacDuffie School (MA), AAU Team: BABC - Nieves is a strong and athletic player from Springfield, MA. He has a high motor and an explosive first step. He has a great court sense. He shoots it well with good range and will keep getting better. He has huge upside for a rising 9th grader. He should be a lock as a future D1 player.  A strong student.


Chinedu Okpara (2025) 6’1 guard, Iona Prep, AAU Team: NY Gauchos - Okpara is long and athletic, with solid ball handling skills. He can attack the basket and shoot from beyond the arc. He is currently developing a more consistent jump shot.  Okpara loves to play defense, he is coachable and a great teammate. His older brother is currently being recruited as a High Major prospect. 3.7 gpa


Dameer Phifer (2025) point guard, Tabor Academy (MA) - Phifer is a standout three sport athlete. In addition to being a quick, strong, and creative guard; Dameer is a star quarterback and a terrifying lacrosse defenseman. He checks all the boxes as a basketball player; fundamentally sound, high IQ, athletically gifted, and unselfish competitor. Every coach he plays for loves him and knows they can count on him. Prepare to see Phifer lock up the kid you came to see in a gym near you soon!


Jordan Pierce (2025) 6’0 point guard, Bunnell High (CT), AAU Team: CT Elite - Pierce already has a nice frame and body size ready for high school. Pierce thrives in the open floor. He likes attacking the basket. He also grabs extra scoring opportunities for himself by rebounding on the offensive end. Likes to get to his mid range pull up.


Thibaud Rubin (2025) 5’10 shooting guard, Fairfield Prep (CT) - It is a sure thing that Rubin will be a favorite in the Showcase’s 3 point shooting contest. He’s been hearing opposing coaches desperately yelling “Shooter!” for a couple of years now. In addition to the long ball, he beats the hard close-outs with a crafty and lethal drive-n-floater game. Good length and coachable. High academic.


Shamoi Tonge (2025) 6’4 guard, Olympus Prep (NJ), AAU Team: Team NYC - Tonge is always alert to where the ball is. He has great upside and runs the floor well. He has a soft touch around the rim, sets good screens and can create shot opportunities for his teammates.


AJ Trimboli (2025) 5’4 guard, King School (CT), AAU Team: High Rise Elite - Trimboli is a pure shooter. While he is very young for his class, he can hold his own on the court. Playing in a very competitive AAU circuit this spring, Trimboli was able to average 17 points per game while shooting over 50% from behind the arc. In the recent ZG nationals,he scored 35 in the last game while going 11-14 from behind the arc. Along with his shooting, his basketball IQ is very high. There is a strong possibility that he will repeat 8th grade, moving into the Class of 2026. 4.0 gpa
