Ja-Zhyoun Laing is running a grassroots team called the Unsung Yutes, sourcing players from New York City and Westchester County. Laing is a Monroe College varsity and JV men’s basketball assistant coach and former college player at Lehman College. His team recently participated in the New York Select Showcase, and features the following high potential players:

Jhase Salley (2024) 6’3 Mount Vernon High - Smooth operator on the court. Plays the game at a great pace. Can play multiple positions. Tenacious defender. Overall Salley has the potential to be one the best players to come out of Mt Vernon in the following years.

Bryce Anderson (2024) 6’1 Mount Vernon High - Possibly one of the best unknown guards in the country. Anderson is a combo guard that can score at all three levels. He has a pull-up game you rarely see players at his age have. Uses very shifty moves to get to the basket also very crafty around the rim. Also a true competitor on the defensive end.

Lee Hester (2024) 5’10 Arcbishop Stepinac High - A young general on the court has a great control on the game. Uses his stocky frame to get in the lane to drop off assist to his teammates. Can hit the open 3 ball and a great finisher around the rim for his size.

Ethan Senkyire (2024) 6”3 Putnam Science Academy (CT) -Senkyrie is a lefty that has a great basketball frame. Very wiry frame and can defend multiple positions. Still carving out his game as we speak. Has a herky-jerky type of game. Putnam has a nice piece to work with in the fall.

Cheikh Tall (2023) 6’4 Murry Bergtraum High - Tall has a solid frame can shoot the mid range finish in traffic with both hands and moves well on the defensive end. Has great upside heading into his junior year one of the hidden gems in the PSAL for sure.

Abdul Doumbouya (2023) 6’0 Hudson High School of Learning Technologies - A great guard in transition can finish with floaters pull-ups and crafty layups around the rim. Strong suit is scoring first but learning how to control the team as point guard and using his scoring ability to open the game for teammates.

Jaden Fearon (2023) 6”2 DWSA/Thornton High - Fearon is the true definition of a competitor. Can guard multiple positions. Very scrappy & also finish around the basket. Overall, he is willing to do whatever is needed to get his team across the finish line.

Zakaria Camara (2023) 6’5 Ridge High (NJ)  Camara is a lefty that is growing into his game. Very agile and can put the ball on the floor for his size. Has a smooth stroke needs to trim down a little bit to truly tap into his potential. Overall a student of the game and has made some strives over the summer.

Seyd Camara (2025) 5’10 Success Academy High School of Liberal Arts - Another young floor general that can shoot the three ball well. Over the last few months he’s made 4-5 threes in multiple games. Still working on being more physical but overall a great poise and feel for the game for this youngster. Bright future ahead for any high school that gets this point guard and works with his skillset.

Oumar Sillah (2025) 6”2 Success Academy Harlem East - Sillah has a great built for his age. He has shown great potential over this summer Can finish at the rim and hit mid range jump shots Plays well in transition. Overall, he has a great upside. Looking forward to seeing him grow as a player.

Moustapha Sidibe (2025) 6’0 Success Academy Harlem East - A young combo guard. Had a 34 point performance this summer… all layups with no jumps shots. A true gym rat and student of the game. Also makes great reads to get teammates involved. This guard will make an impact right away next school year stay tuned.
