2018 More Than a Game

More Than a Game is one of Queens top summer league events. Going strong for seven years, MTG is organized by Kim Wilson and Rob Moses,  Assitant Coach, Cardozo High. Every year this summer league keeps attracting more and more talented players and these are some of the top performers we noticed.

Week 1 Saturday June 16

Davonta Cook 2019 5’10 guard Brooklyn Law and Tech HS - good enough handle to be a play maker. Good court vision. Able passer. Works hard on defense. Needs to limit his turnovers.

Kareem Reid 2020 6’8 Putnam Science Academy HS (CT)/NY Finest - lefty big man. Good size and length. Good rebounder. Decent moves in the post. Shows the ability to turn and face and dribble some along with his back to the basket moves. Needs to work on his weak hand moves moves and being an aggressive defender.

Sean Anderson 2019 6’7 forward Connetquot HS (NY)/Team Underrated - Big man that can step out and hit the 3pt shot on occasion. Can finish at the basket when going left. Average rebounder. Needs his agility and mobility.

Ajani Lewis 2020 6’4 forward Jamaica HS (NY)/Almighty Basketball - basic skill set with good potential. Average rebounder. Effective when close to the basket. Needs to work on being consistent on both sides of the floor and his lower body strength.

Pete Baron 2019 6’0 guard Chaminade HS (NY) - fundamentally sound player. Has 3pt shooting range. Can be effective with his pass. Needs to work on his dribble and defense.

Benchik Bayor 2019 6’7 center Scholars Academy HS (NY)/ HBT - tall and lanky. Raw talent and skills. Runs the floor. Good rebounding and shot blocking potential. Needs to improve on his skills.

Jaylen Davis 2019 6’2 guard Cardozo HS (NY) - good shooter. Good size at the guard position. Shows flahes of good athleticism. Decent with his dribble and scoring. Needs to get into better shape.

Coby Farrington 2019 5’9 guard Cardozo HS (NY) - has the capability to assert himself on the game when he wants to and is focused. Has good offensive skills. Can shoot and finish. Needs to stay aggressive with his pressure defense.
