Smartball Classic Top Performers 8/9/21

On August 9, Recruit The Bronx paid another visit to the Smartball Classic, which was held at the Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of the City College of New York in Harlem. On this night, Our Saviour Lutheran played against Xaverian High, and St. Francis Prep went up against South Shore. Here are the standouts from each game:

 

Silas Sunday 7-0, Center, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that is very strong and stands his ground in the post. A player that can block or alter shots and can make players think twice before going up to score against him. Is able to play above the rim and box out to get rebounds.

 

Armoni Ziegler 6-4, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that can play the two-guard position and can find many ways to score. Has plenty of athleticism and can play above the rim. Loves to drive into the lane and is great at getting downcourt in transition.

 

Sadiku Ibine Ayo 6-6, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that loves to get up and down the court in transition and can play above the rim. Has a strong build and is able to go up strong to the basket and obtain rebounds. Is a huge asset for his team on both ends of the floor.

 

Zakai Ziegler 5-10, Point Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that makes heady plays and has great energy on the floor. Is a player that has plenty of speed and uses that in transition to get to the basket with ease. Is the engine that makes his team go on offense and his teammates feed off of his energy.

 

Jaquan Sanders 6-3, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for making big plays on the floor and has the ability to score in many ways. Loves to hit shots from long range & can get down court and get to the rim, as he showcases his athleticism as well. Is fearless when going up to the basket.

 

Jonathan Noudjihidi 6-9, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has a very strong build and has the ability to play the five position. Has the ability to patrol the paint and can block shots and obtain rebounds in a timely fashion. Loves to play above the rim and makes powerful dunks.

 

Spencer Mahoney 6-7, Forward, Xaverian High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has a nice skill set on the floor and can do anything that his team needs. Has great footwork and can put the ball on the floor and drive into the lane for two. Is a player that can also step out and shoot from long range.

 

Supreme Niles 5-8, Point Guard, Xaverian High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to make his team go when on the court. is able to attack in transition and is able to see the floor well, especially when his teammates are streaking down court to get to the basket. Is also fearless when going into the basket.

 

Nico Peña 5-10, Point Guard, Xaverian High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that can create for himself offensively and also can move with out the ball and can free himself to get open for a shot. A player that can shoot the lights out from three-point range. Can be tough to stop if he is not guarded heavily every time, especially if it’s from deep.

 

Aaron Goldstein 5-10, Shooting Guard, Xaverian High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the penchant for scoring and is never afraid to take clutch shots when the ball in his hands. Is very fearless when going to the basket and always goes up strong, anticipating getting fouled and getting to the line. Has the ability to attack the lane every time he drives to the hole.

 

Don Lewis 6-5, Forward, Xaverian High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has good footwork and makes swift moves on the offensive end when going towards the basket. Is an imposing figure in the paint area that can help neutralize the opposition when it comes to them trying to score. Has good hands and great positioning when it comes to him being on the defensive end.

 

Jaden Daughtry 6-6, Forward, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that is very skilled on the floor & has the ability to get after the ball every time he steps on the court. Has superb athleticism, whether he goes to the rim for a dunk or blocks a shot. Is a natural leader on the floor, as the team feeds off of his play.

 

Latiek Briscoe 6-2, Shooting Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that is very tough and gives maximum effort on the court. Is very quick whenever he gets down court on the offensive end. Has active hands, which allow him to get after the ball at all times. Has the ability to take good shots from the perimeter.

 

Chance Morrish 6-1, Point Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has great basketball IQ and can make good choices when the ball is in his hands. Is a player that has the ability to stay with his man. Has the ability to pass the ball to his teammates at the right moments. Is good for attacking the basket, especially when on the fast break.

 

Joshua Pascarelli 6-1, Shooting Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to be very active when on the court in many ways. Has the ability to get to the basket with ease and can take plenty of shots from the top of the key. Has the ability to pass to his teammates.

 

Tylik Weeks 6-6, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that has a strong build and can has great footwork when in the paint area. Is able to score off of putbacks and is able to get to the basket and draw fouls easily. Is able to absorb physical contact every time he goes up for a basket. Uses his strength to obtain rebounds.

 

Max Ragusa 6-3, Point Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that is smart with the ball and always looks to hit the open man. Is a good ball handler and can get past the opposition. Always finds an opportunity to get to the hole and has the ability to hit shots from the outside.

 

Kyrone Alexander 6-5, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to bring the ball up the court and can pass the ball. Is a player that has great athleticism and can get to the rim with ease. Has the ability to get down the court in transition.

 

Nivek Borden 6-8, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that has a huge presence in the low post and plays tough defense on the opposition. Has good hands when it comes to getting blocks and catching rebounds. On the offensive end, he is able to power his way to the basket and can score, while also looking to draw a foul and get to the free throw line.

 

Davin Francis 6-5, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to impact the game in several ways. Is able to get his shot off quickly and can hit jumpers from long range. Has the ability to create for himself off the bounce and is a great defender that can stick with his man by blocking shots or forcing the opposition to give up the ball.

 

Dia Braithwaite 6-3, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to be a floor leader at the point guard position, and can create for himself off the dribble. Has great defensive tendencies, as he is able to force the opposition into giving up the ball as a way to get steals. Is able to get to the basket easily.
