CWB Spartans 17u College Prospects

CWB Spartans 17u team is a part of the Chris Ward Basketball program. This past AAU season they went 23-9, taking only single losses in making it to the Elite 8 in each of the Zero Gravity XL tournament in Spooky Nook (PA), Gym Rat Platinum Level (top) tournament in Albany (NY) and the Zero Gravity XL Nationals in Orlando (FL). Below are the college prospects who played for the team.

 

Chris Ward, Jr (2022) 5’9, 155 lbs, point guard, Alexander Hamilton High - Ward is a All-League level, prototypical point guard with a tremendous handle. His physical strength allows him to get to any spot on the floor. Deceivingly athletic. Excellent off of the ball screen, making plays for himself and others. Great decision maker in transition and has ability to hit open three consistently. He already has an offer from D2 Erskine College (SC). Ward is drawing additional interest from NAIA, D2, D3, and prep school as well.

 

Charlie Randall (2022) 7’0, 200 lbs, forward, Berkshire School (MA) - Randle is a recent Mamaroneck High graduate, where he was named Co-player of the Year in Westchester County, 1st Team LHBCA. All League, All Conference, and All Section. He is a skilled Euro-style face-up big with outstanding range from 3. He has made tremendous improvement over the last year in his post-up game. Displays excellent timing in shot blocking ability. Solid rebounder with great mobility and solid hands. Currently holds a D1 offer from Albany. High academic D3 Williams is also interested in landing him.

 

Jason Schofield (2024) 6’8, 205 lbs, wing, Avon Old Farms School (CT) - Schofield is a 15 year old who already holds four D1 offers (Story Brook, Albany, St. Francis (N.Y.) and Bryant). He has an advanced skill set beyond his years. He scores on all three levels, and is an excellent three point shooter. Schofield is a strong rebounder for a young player competing two years up and has has the ability to rebound and initiate the fast break. He will be a force in 17u play for years to come.

 

Brandon Harris (2022) 6’2, 215 lbs, Central Pointe Christian Post Grad (FL) - Harris is an Alexander Hamilton High graduate who is now doing a PG year in Orlando. He had a storied high school career, 1,000 point scorer. All-League, All Conference, All Section, and All State selection. In his senior year, he led a Section Championship team. Harris has an outstanding skillset and I.Q., Adrian Dantley style game. He is an excellent rebounder at his position. Excellent three point shooter. and a winner at every level. Harris is getting serious interest at NAIA, D2, and D3 levels.

 

Jaylen Savage (2022) 6’2, 175 lbs, Alexander Hamilton High - Savage was an All-League, All Conference, All Section, and All State selection. Section I Champion last winter. He is fantastic off the bounce with a mid-range jump shot. He does great job of getting in the lane and finishing. He has made tremendous improvement in his three point shooting. Rebounds well above his position and has excellent I.Q. on the court. He also excels in the classroom. Outstanding football player and a section champion in track as well. He is receiving serious interest from NESCAC currently. Ivy and Patriot League will soon follow.

Jayden Larregue (2022) 6’2, 170 lbs wing, Briarcliff High - Larregue was All-League in 2022. He is an explosive athlete who is only going to get better. Be is just realizing how good he can be now. Larregue has improved in all facets, three point shooting, ball handling and passing. His rebounding is starting to match his athleticism. Excellent finishing in transition. Larregue is poised to have a huge senior year on an excellent high school team. He is currently receiving serious interest at the D3 level. Going for an additional PG year is certainly an option as well.

 

Spencer Rubinstein (2021) 6’2, 175 lbs, wing Ramaz School - Rubenstein is the consummate “Glue Guy”. A reliable and consistent player who is at the center of WB 17u’s success. He is the type of player that does whatever his team needs in order to win, versatile, all-around game. He shoots the three, handles it well enough to initiate the offense. Excellent court vision and another player who rebounds above position. High I.Q. and one of the toughest to ever put on the Forest Green and Black. Rubenstein will be taking gap year in Israel and be working with the coach of the Israeli National Team. He has serious interest from NESCAC, CUNY and Skyline League institutions.
