2021 Monsignor Scanlan Open Gym Prospects

On September 14, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to Monsignor Scanlan High School in The Bronx to check out their Open Gym run, as they prepared for the upcoming high school season and also fall leagues. The open gym is also a chance for players to show off their game in front of college coaches in the hopes that they can attain a scholarship. Here are the standouts from the open gym:

 

Nasir Rodriguez 6-4, Shooting Guard, Class of 2024 - A forward that has the ability to take over a game, as he has a good feel for the game and is very competitive on the floor. Has plenty of toughness and can take the ball downcourt with ease. Has superb athleticism and finds multiple ways to score.

 

Richard Smith 6-3, Point Guard, Class of 2022 - A guard that likes to run on the fast break and has plenty of energy when in transition. Loves to get to the basket easily and can attack the glass for a rebound or obtain a steal when on the defensive end. Has the ability to use his athleticism and loves to play above the rim.

 

Kenneth Fields 5-10, Shooting Guard, Class of 2023 - A guard that is quick and makes good decisions when on the court. Knows how to make hustle plays on the floor and is able to stay on his defender at al times. Is able to get by his defender off the dribble and can make strong drives to the basket.

 

Bryce Simmons 6-0, Point Guard, Class of 2023 - A guard that is fearless when on the floor and can attack in transition. Is able to use his strength to power to the basket and absorb contact when trying to get to the hole. Has a nice shooting touch when on the perimeter. Has the qualities of a natural-born leader.

 

Kassius Paulin 6-3, Forward, Class of 2023 - A forward that plays tough defense and gives plenty of effort when he’s on the floor. Has a long wingspan and can run the floor well. Is always alert and active on the boards.

 

Elijah Hernandez 6-3, Shooting Guard, Class of 2022 - A guard that is smart & shifty when on the court and is also looks to make great plays when on the offensive ends. Has great court vision and knows how to make sure his teammates get the ball in the right places.


D’Andre Gibbs 6-1, Point Guard, Class of 2024 - A guard that has plenty of quickness when on the court and is able to get downcourt with his speed. Is able to attack the basket with ease and is able to create for himself when it comes to getting points. Is always able to call out for the ball and makes himself alert.

 

Jabari Philips 6-3, Forward, Class of 2023 - A forward that has a strong presence when on the floor. Is able to show his toughness by getting rebounds and intimidating the opposition into giving up the ball. Has a penchant for guarding the opposition’s best offensive option.

 

Jaylen Logue 6-6, Forward, Class of 2023 - A forward that can hold his own in the low post and can move around well. Has a strong build and can impose their will with his strength. Is able to get to the basket with ease and can post up against smaller defenders & score with precision.

 

Daryl Jones 5-6, Point Guard, Class of 2025 - A guard that is small, but lightning-fast and has a penchant for being shifty. Is great at attacking the basket and is always ready to absorb contact when going up for a basket. Has the ability to set his teammates up with the ability to score.

 

Jacob Wang 6-2, Shooting Guard, Class of 2024 - A guard that has the ability to stay with his man on the defense and has the ability to do different things on the floor. Has the ability to obtain rebounds and give the maximum effort when it comes to loose balls. Is able to get down court with the ball easily & can make hustle plays.

 

Jaiden Hill 5-10, Shooting Guard, Class of 2023 - A that presents plenty of speeds when it comes to the offensive end. Is a player that can get past his teammates with quickness and has the ability to hold his own when he goes up to the basket. Is very fearless when going to the hole & can absorb physical contact.
