2021 Hersch Classic Standouts

On November 19, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to Thomas Jefferson Educational Campus in Brooklyn for the first night of the annual Hersh Classic, an event in which many of the PSAL’s best high school programs duel it out before the official start of their winter seasons. Here are some of the standouts from the event:

 

Nick Tung, 5-8, Point Guard, Scholars Academy, 2022 - A guard that has plenty of quickness when going down the lane. Is fearless when it comes to driving into the lane and is in attack mode very often when it comes to scoring. His quickness is impeccable on the floor and his defense is spectacular.

 

Daniel Kaplan, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Scholars Academy, 2022 - A guard that has the ability to play strong defense on his man and stick with them. Has a penchant for using his body to absorb contact when going to the basket. Has an ability to impact his team when playing off the ball.

 

Connor Sprattley 6-0, Point Guard, Thomas Jefferson High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that is strong when attacking the basket and uses his quickness at will. Knows when to distribute the ball to his teammates and when to score. Has a great IQ for his position & has a good eye for what to do on the floor.

 

Tristan Davis 5-9, Point Guard, Thomas Jefferson High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that is very speedy and has the ability to attack the lane. Has the ability to set up his teammates with good baskets. Is a great decision maker and can create for himself off the dribble.

 

Moussa Samake 6-7, Forward, Thomas Jefferson High School, Class of 2025 - A forward that has good size and length and has plenty of toughness when going on to the boards. Is able to move well around the paint area and can run well across the floor. Is great at anticipating passes and catching them en route to getting to the basket.


Kentrell Edwards, 6-3, Forward, Robeson High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has plenty of toughness when on the court and is able to use his body to muscle his way to the basket. Has good hands and is able to alter or block shots on the defensive end. Is able to force the opposition into missing shots or passing it.

 

Jamel Johnson, 5-11, Point Guard, Robeson High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that is very explosive and is able to glide his way to the basket on the offensive end. Finds ways to make his presence felt by blocking shots and getting rebounds. Is food at attacking the basket off the dribble and can absorb contact when driving.

 

Robert Witter, 5-5, Point Guard, Robeson High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that is diminutive but plays bigger than his height. Is able to control the tempo of the game and can handle the ball on the perimeter. Has jet-like quickness and superb court vision that aids in his team being very successful.

 

Gregory Ricketts 5-5, Point Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for being in the right places at the right times. Has a lot of quickness, which he uses to get to the lane efficiently. Is able to hit teammates with good passes in order to put them in position to score.

 

Siyani Arthur 5-8, Point Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2024 - A diminutive guard that has a penchant for making big shots at all times. Is fearless when it comes to driving into the basket and has a lot of confidence when driving into the basket. Knows when to dish it out to teammates and puts them in position to score.

 

Raymond Gillespie 6-4, Forward, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that is able to slice and dice his way to the basket. Knows how to make himself present when off the ball by moving around. Is good for absorbing the ball when it comes to getting rebounds.

 

Kyle Dhu 6-1, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that is very athletic and will not hesitate to go up for a rebounds and loose balls. Is able to extend plenty of energy when he’s on the floor. Finds plenty of ways to score and is always ready to anticipate a pass coming from a teammate.

 

Cristian Davis 5-10, Point Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that is small, but deceptive with the ball. He is great at making sure his teammates get the ball in their hands at the right time on the fast break. Uses his speed quite often when it comes to getting past the opposition and has great hands, which aids in him being able to make plenty of steals when on the defensive end.

 

Donnell Campbell Jr. 6-4, Shooting Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for making the right plays at the right time. Is able to attack the glass ferociously and can use his strength to his advantage, when it comes to drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line. Has a penchant for getting to the basket with ease.

 

Kalifa Outtara 6-5, Shooting Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that is explosive and loves to get after the ball. Has a quick first step off the dribble and can create for himself on the offensive end. Is able to drive to the basket and is fearless of contact.

 

Andre Bowles, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that makes the effort to get after the ball when it comes to loose balls or steals and gives maximum energy when he’s on the floor. Is a great defender that stays on his man at all times.

 

Jamier Nowell 5-9, Point Guard, Benjamin Banneker Academy, Class of 2024 - A guard that is quick and deceptive and finds a way to get down court in an instant. Is always alert when it comes to getting steals or even getting to loose balls. Finds ways to set up teammates with passes & has the ability to get to the basket.

 

Kevin Rochez,  5-7, Point Guard, Benjamin Banneker Academy, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for bringing the ball up the court & can fill the lanes. Never hesitates to use his quickness to his advantage. When driving to the basket, he finds a way to finish string at the basket. Has good hands, which allow him to get steals at all times.

 

Asani Delpeche, 6-4, Forward, Benjamin Banneker Academy, Class of 2022 - A forward with a long wingspan and and the ability to bring the ball up the court, which shows his versatility. Uses his strength to hold his own when it comes to him getting rebounds and blocking shots. Has a penchant for going to the basket and finishing with strength.

 

Marlon Johnson, Jr., 5-11, Shooting Guard, Benjamin Banneker Academy, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to use his good hands to snare rebounds and also obtain steals whenever he gets the opportunity. Loves to find ways to drive to the basket. Has the ability to shoot from long range.
