2021 Hoop’n to the New Year Tournament Standouts

On December 30, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to the Ocean Hill section of Brooklyn for the Hoop’n to the New Year tournament at Brooklyn Collegiate High School. Participating were four of the PSAL’s best teams in Brooklyn Collegiate, Thomas Jefferson Campus, Eagle Academy (Bronx) and James Monroe Campus. They competed in a two-day event to finish off the first month of the season. Here are the standouts for the event:


Connor Sprattley 6-0, Point Guard, Thomas Jefferson Campus, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to take over a game with his scoring when he sees fit. When he has the ball in his hands, he is able to dominate with high-volume shooting. Is a good defender that has the ability to get steals and turn that into basket.


Tywan Evans 5-7, Point Guard, Thomas Jefferson Campus, Class of 2023 - A guard that is fearless when going up for a basket. Is a guard that has plenty of confidence when it comes to taking high-volume shots. Has the ability to distribute the ball to his teammates and puts them in a position to score at all times.


Jaden Kempson 6-1, Shooting Guard, Thomas Jefferson Campus, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to get past defenders with his dribble. Makes it easy to get to the lane and is a good finisher at the basket. Is good at staying with his man at all times on the defensive end. Has a nice shooting touch when going for a pull up jumper or a floater.


Nathaniel Lynton, 6-4, Forward, Thomas Jefferson Campus, Class of 2022 - A forward that has a long wingspan and is very dominant with his physicality. Is a player that provides plenty of energy and size in the post area. Has the ability to rebound and power his way to the basket.


Tristian Davis 5-9, Point Guard, Thomas Jefferson Campus, Class of 2025 - A guard that is very quick on & has the ability to attack off the dribble Has the ability to set up his teammates with good baskets, especially when they are open or even cutting to the basket. Is good at creating for himself and is fearless when going to the basket.


Jaryn Bull 6-1, Forward, Eagle Academy, Class of 2023 - A forward with size that loves to get up and down the floor. Is able to get to the hole with ease and has the ability to use his physicality to absorb contact in the post.


Asa Kone 6-8, Forward, Eagle Academy, Class of 2022 - A forward that is an enforcer in the low post. Has large hands that aid in him blocking shots and obtaining rebounds. Has great upper-body strength and a long wingspan. Is fearless when going up for a basket.


Jaden Zimmerman 6-3, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy, Class of 2024 - A guard that has the ability to find his way to the free throw line. Is able to move around when off the ball and is able to command the ball at all times. Is able to come off of screens and get to the basket easily.


Clinton McCullum 5-8, Point Guard, Eagle Academy, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to stick with his man at on the defensive end. Has the ability to get downcourt with his speed and has a penchant for driving to the basket. Had the ability to find his teammates & deliver great passes that lead to assists.


Efrain Davila 5-9,  Shooting Guard, James Monroe Campus, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to give his team energy when he’s on the floor. Has a penchant for getting past the opposition on the offensive end and can set up his teammates for baskets. Has a nice shooting touch from the outside.


Donzell Hamilton 5-11, Shooting Guard, James Monroe Campus, Class of 2022 - A guard that likes to get out in the break and loves to run in transition. Is able to slice and dice his way to the basket. Is able to hit pull up jumpers or floaters when going to the basket.


Harry Bonilla 5-11, Shooting Guard, James Monroe High School Campus, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to take over a game when he has the ball in his hands. Is able to drive to the basket at will and can score at will. Is able to shoot from long range ands a nice shooting stroke.


Odanis Done 6-2,  Point Guard, James Monroe Campus, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for leading the team on the floor. Is able to set the tempo for his team when he’s handling the ball. Loves to get his teammates in the right position to score. Is able to attack in transition and drive to the basket. Has a nice shooting touch.


Al-Hasan Jallow 6-6, Forward, James Monroe Campus, Class of 2024 -A forward that can make his presence felt with his size and physicality. Is a great rebounder that has good footwork and can help his teammates with movements on the floor. Is able to alter the shot of the opposition when he puts his hands up and gives his team good energy on the floor.


Toriboli Babs-Ogundeji 6-4, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has a penchant for using his wingspan to corral rebounds. Has a penchant for drawing fouls and getting to the free-throw line. Has a nice shooting touch from the perimeter.


Zaquan Jones 6-4, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that is a strong and imposing figure on the floor. Is able to obtain a rebound and is the enforcer for his team. Is able to use his physicality to hold his own in the low post area.


Jayden Johnson 6-0, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2023 - Johnson is a good a spot-up shooter, and he commands the ball accordingly. He has a nice shooters touch. He can bring the ball up while under pressure and get his team into a set.


Dayjon Anderson 5-10, Point Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that is able to stick with his man at all times on the defensive end. Has the ability to use slick moves to get into the lane. Has the ability to come off of a screen and shoot. Has great upper-body strength that gives him the ability to withstand contact.


Jamal Smith 6-3, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that has a penchant for being a solid rebounder. Uses his strength to absorb contact when going up for a basket or absorbing a rebound. Is able to box out and dominant.


Trey Skeete 6-0, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that likes to play on the perimeter. Has the ability to step into the lane and obtain a rebound. Has plenty of strength that aids him in drawing fouls and absorbing contact. Has a penchant for staying in front of his man on the defensive end.
