2022 PSAL Semifinals Top Performers

On Sunday afternoon, March 13, RecruitTheBronx.com made it to the Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of City College of New York in Harlem for the PSAL Semifinals. The winners of the two games would advance to the PSAL championship game at the Barclays Center on St. Patrick’s Day. In the end, South Shore knocked off Wings Academy and Eagle Academy II knocked off John Bowne. Here are the standouts from both semifinal games:


Jarrett Dingle 6-2, Point Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has great leadership skills on the court and has a way of having his teammates defer to him on offense. Has the ability to control the offense and set his teammates up to obtain possessions that can lead them to scoring opportunities. Has the ability to drive to the basket.


Davin Francis 6-5, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 -A guard that has the ability to hold his own over smaller defenders whenever he is on the perimeter. Has the ability to rebound because of his size advantage and his ability to be alert when the ball is going up. Is able to get to the basket with ease at all times.


Max Ragusa 6-0, Point Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that is quick and has excellent court vision. Is able to slice and dice past his defender and is able to get the ball in the basket with ease. Finds his teammates in good positions where they can score.


Jalen O’Brien 6-6, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that is one of the physical big men on the team. Is able to muscle his way to the basket and is able to attack at all times. Is fearless when it comes to attacking the glass or going up to score. Is a player that can play above the rim.


Kyrone Alexander 6-5, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 - A guard/forward that can play two positions on the floor and has a large wingspan, due to his size advantage. Is fearless when driving to the basket and can make plays when going to the hole. Has the ability to go up strong to the basket and can handle contact when going up for a layup.


Nivek Borden 6-8, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 A forward that can make big plays on the defensive end and has the ability to block shots. When going up for the rebound, he is able to outmuscle and outwork the opposition to get the ball. Has great mobility in the post area.


CJ Riley 6-0, Point Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to control the team on offense and make his presence felt with his scoring. Knows when to attack in transition and get down the court, as well as pass the ball to his teammates, leaving them with opportunities to score. Has the ability to hit shots from the outside.


Mohamed Kante 6-3, Shooting Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to play big on the floor, but is also slick with his ball handling skills, as he is able to put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket. When going to the basket, he goes up strong and is very fearless when on the court. Is a scorer that is counted on in crucial moments of games.


Justin Johnson, 5-11, Point Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2022 - A guard that is a solid facilitator when on the floor. Is able to attack when driving to the basket and has plenty of squad. Is a player that has great court vision and is able to make great plays at the point guard position.


Jesse Segura 6-3, Forward, Wings Academy, Class of 2023 - A forward that is able to put the ball on the floor and can hold his own in the post on a team full of guards. Finds ways to drive to the basket and absorb contact in order to draw fouls and get to the free throw line. Is a player that uses his body on both ends of the court, when it comes to getting rebounds.


Treshawn Sheppard 6-6, Forward, Eagle Academy II, Class of 2023 A forward that is able to put the ball on the floor and is very efficient when on the court. Is a player that is very athletic and is able to drive to the basket. Is a great rebounder and has great hands that will aid in him getting rebounds or blocking shots.


Jaquel Morris 6-8, Forward, Eagle Academy, Class of 2022 - A forward that is a force in the low post area and is able to hold his own, as he has a long wingspan every time he is in the paint. Is a player that is strong and can play with force every time on the court. Loves to play above the rim and can muscle his way into the post and can easily draw fouls.


Eric Acker 6-1, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy II, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to make great plays when on the court. Is a guard that can drive to the basket and can drive to the basket with precision. Has the ability to take plenty of shots and finds many ways to score.


Taj Bryant 6-2, Point Guard, Eagle Academy II, Class of 2024 - A guard that is able to take control of his team when he has the ability to get to the basket. Is fearless when going to the hole and can make big plays. Is a great facilitator when driving to the basket and is able to put his teammates in position to score.


Jamere Russell 6-3, Point Guard, John Bowne High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that is quick and has good court vision. Is able to speed past the opposition and can facilitate to his teammates at all times. Is also a player that will drive to the basket and find many ways to get to the hole or shoot from the perimeter.


Djibril Diallo, 6-1, Point Guard, John Bowne High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that loves to run in transition and is very effective on the floor. His speed gives his team the ability to have a guard that can get to the basket easily. When going to the basket, he is fearless of absorbing contact and goes to the basket strong.


Rasean Greer 6-3, Shooting Guard, John Bowne High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to find other ways to be in the game when he is not scoring. Is able to rebound efficiently and is very tenacious and scrappy. Is very willing to take plenty of shots, and even when they don’t go in, he is not afraid to try to make them.


Chris Judge 6-0, Shooting Guard, John Bowne High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that loves to get to the basket and score in transition. Has a nice shooting touch and has the ability to shoot from long range. Has excellent court vision and is able to find ways to be effective on the floor.


Chisom Ani 6-7, Forward, John Bowne High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that is very tough and is a leader in the front court. Has plenty of strength and is always ready to get a key block or rebound for his team. Is considered an enforcer in the post, because of his toughness. Even when he doesn’t score, he is still a player that will find other ways to be effective on the floor.
