2202 NY State Championships Standouts

On March 26 afternoon, RecruitTheBronx.com was at Long Island Lutheran High School in the Brookville section of Long Island for the New York State Championships Class AA title game. These games which were put together by the NYSAIS and the PSAL in place of the New York State Federation Tournament, which was canceled this year. In the AA title game, powerhouse Long Island Lutheran met up against PSAL champion, South Shore High of Brooklyn for the state trophy. In the end, the game was close all game and the South Shore Vikings knocked off LuHi, 67-66.


Here are the standouts for the game:


Jayden Pierre 6-2, Point Guard, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has plenty of finesse in his game and loves to get past his defender every time out on the court. Has a good shot selection and knows when to hit his teammates for passes and when to give them the ball. Has great quickness and is able to create for himself on the offensive end.

 

Jayden Reid 5-10, Point Guard, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that is quick and is always ready to get a steal on the defensive end and uses his speed to get down court easily. Has the ability to get his teammates involved on the court and can shoot from the perimeter. Has the ability to command his team’s attention when he has the ball at the top of the key.

 

Jaxon Koroll 6-11, Forward, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that has the ability to hold his own in the paint and can obtain rebounds at a frenetic pace. Is a very physical player that has plenty of strength, which he uses when going up to score or snatch a ball from the air. Is good at blocking shots and being the enforcer in the post.


Louis Hutchinson 6-6, Shooting Guard, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 -A guard with a long wingspan that has the ability to slice and dice to the hole. Is a good defender and has hands and length that give him a chance to stay with the opposition. Has the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter.

 

Amdy Moustapha 6-10, Forward, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has the ability to be a contributor to his squad and does it with his solid play in the post area. Has plenty of length and uses it when it comes to getting blocks and rebounds. When going to the basket on the offensive end, he is able to go up strong.


Finley Sheridan 6-10, Forward, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that is agile and has plenty of strength and has a lot of versatility when he’s on the floor. Is able to attack the glass with precision and is fearless when going up for a rebound. Is able to step out and shoot from the perimeter.


Matthew Mahoney 6-3, Shooting Guard,, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has slick moves to the basket and knows when to pass the ball to his teammates. Has a penchant for scoring in transition and is most dangerous when left open from three-point range. Is able to create his shot and is able to move around off the ball as a way to anticipate getting his shot.


Kyrone Alexander 6-5, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that is able to make clutch baskets for his team in crucial moments on the floor and is always ready to attack the glass. His wingspan aids in him being able to battle on the low post, but his versatility gives him a chance to play on the wing. Is able to absorb contact when driving to the basket.


Davin Francis 6-5, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that has plenty of athleticism that he uses at all times and is prone to catching putback dunks if the opposition does not box him out. Loves to create for himself and is able to get to the basket with ease. Is able to shoot from the top of the key and is able to get his shot off effectively.


Max Ragusa 6-0, Point Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 - A guard that is able to pick his spots when it comes to shooting and also the team’s floor leader. Has the ability to get past his defender with his slick handle and can sprint to the basket. Is able to facilitate the ball to his teammates and put them in positions to score.


Abou Ba 6-3, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that is strong and can make plenty of plays on the floor. Is agile and is very strong and can obtain rebounds with ease. Is able to be an asset on the floor to his team every time he steps on the court.

 

Jarrett Dingle 6-2, Point Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has great court vision and is a great contributor to his team every time out. Has great court vision when he’s running the team & finds plenty of ways to score when he has the ball. Is able to create for himself on the offensive end at all times.


Jalen O’Brian 6-6, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has plenty of strength and is a workhorse on the glass. Is able to impose his presence in the paint by boxing out the opposition and using his strength in the post area. Has plenty of explosion in his game, which aids in him going up for a dunk with ease.
