2022 IS8/Nike Spring Classic Standouts

On Saturday, April 16, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to the Jamaica section of Queens for the annual IS8/Nike tournament, in which many of the premier teams from the tri-state area come to battle. With it being back in action for the first time since 2019, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many players were ready to duel it out on the hardwood of the famed tournament that is famous for the adage, “Bring Your Name, Not Your Game.” Here the standouts from the opening weekend of IS8:


TJ Morris 6-4, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Goldminz, Class of 2022- A guard that likes to create for himself and has plenty of athleticism in his game. Loves to get up and down the court on the fast break and is a great finisher at the rim. Is able to absorb contact when he goes to the basket.


Shawn Fulcher 6-0, Point Guard, Scotland Campus Preparatory School (PA), Goldminz, Class of 2022 - A guard that has excellent court vision and has the opportunity to see where his teammates are moving so that he can put them in position to get passes that could potentially lead to baskets. Is able to drive to the basket with ease and has the ability to pull up for a jumper. Is able to use his speed at all times.


Brandon Williams 6-8, Forward, Christ the King High School, Goldminz, Class of 2023 - A forward that is able to use his strength as a way to make his presence felt when on the floor with his physicality. Is a player that can make jumpers from the perimeter and can put the ball on the floor. Has the ability to play above the rim and can create for himself.


Dontae Prescott 5-10, Point Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Goldminz, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to make plays and facilitate by putting his teammates in position to score. Has excellent court vision and is a good decision maker when he has the ball in his hands. Has the ability to drive to the basket with ease.


Quadir Copeland, 6-5, Point Guard, IMG Academy (FL), Difference Makers, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to make smooth moves when handling the ball. Is able to drive to the basket with ease and is a good finisher at the basket. Has the ability to shoot at a high volume.


Jonathan Kelly, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Quality Academy (NJ), Difference Makers, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to drive to the basket and is fearless when going to the hole. Is able to anticipate passes and can make plays, when it comes to passing the ball. Has the ability to pass the ball to his teammates for them to score.


Darian Grady, 5-11, Point Guard, Shipley School (PA), Class of 2023 - A guard that is very smart on the court and is able to find his teammates on the court and put them in position to score. Has the ability to shoot from long range and is very fearless when going to the basket. Has an efficient shooting stroke from the corner and is able to finish at the rim.

Devon Jainlett, 6-6, Forward, Rocktop Academy (PA), Difference Makers, Class of 2022 - A forward that has plenty of size when on the court. Is able to shoot from long range and is solid when on the wing. Loves to drive to the basket and is able to absorb contact.


Leverson Tulien 6-5, Campus Magnet High School, Spartan Pride, Class of 2022 - A forward that has a strong build and is able to absorb contact on both ends of the court. Is able to obtain rebounds and can get up the court and run on the fast break. Is able to post up on smaller defenders.


Bryce Williams 6-0, Point Guard, Campus Magnet High School, Spartan Pride, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to get up and down the court and can make big plays in crucial moments. Has the ability to create for himself and is able to make smooth moves to the basket. Has a nice shooting stroke rom the corner.


Jaelon Johnson 5-9, Point Guard, Campus Magnet, Spartan Pride, Class of 2024 - A guard that has the ability to get down the court with ease and Is a good finisher at the basket. Has plenty of quickness and has the ability to get past his defender with his slick handle. Is able to shoot from the corner and has a nice, quick release.


James Wenzel 6-1, Shooting Guard, Campus Magnet High School, Spartan Pride, Class of 2023 - A guard that has plenty of athleticism and is able to get to the basket with ease. Has plenty of energy and is able to make his teammates feed off of him. Has a nice shooting stroke and is able to use his hustle when on the court.


Randy Crosby 6-1, Shooting Guard, Carolina Basketball Academy (NC), NCE Smush, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to bring the ball up the court and looks to get past his defender at all times. Has the ability to shoot from long range and is able to use his quickness to his advantage when going for steals. Has a penchant for getting his teammates in position to score.


Isaac Gonzalez 6-0, Point Guard, WHEELS, NCE Smush, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to make shifty moves with the ball and is able to make a pull up jumper. Is able to drive to the basket and can absorb contact while finishing at the basket. Although he may look to score mostly, he has the ability to give teammates the ability to score.


Kevin Rochez, 5-7. Point Guard, Benjamin Banneker Academy, NCE Smush, Class of 2022 - A guard that is very talented and is a great ball handler. Has the ability to stay in front of his man at all times on the defensive end and is able to run on the fast break. Is very fearless when going to the basket and has a penchant for absorbing contact and finishing at the basket.


Avery Brown 6-2, Point Guard, Northfield Mount Hermon School (MA), 2G’z, Class of 2022 (Columbia University commit)  - A guard that has the ability for making clutch plays and is able to attack when going to t he basket on the offensive end. Has excellent court vision and has the ability to see where his teammates are moving at all times so that they can be in position to score. Has a nice shooting stroke and can create his own shot.


Dwayne Pierce 6-6, Shooting Guard, Christ the King High School, 2G’z, Class of 2024 - A guard that has the ability to make clutch plays and has plenty of size. Has plenty of versatility in his game and is able to make an impact in many ways. Has the ability to get past his defender and is able to hit a jumper from midrange or from three-point range.


Stephen Olowoniyi, 6-7, Forward, Webb School (TN), 2G’z, Class of 2023 - A forward that has plenty of length and also has plenty of athleticism. Has good hands and is a solid rebounder that has a penchant for getting out on the break and running down court. Is able to finish when going to the basket and can play above the rim.


Kenny KJ Satterfield, Jr., 6-2, Point Guard, Whitehall High School (OH), 2G’z, Class of 2023 - A guard that is able to set up an offense and is very ball dominant. Is able to make plays happen on the court and has excellent court vision. Is fearless when going to the basket and is able to throw up floaters or complete layups.


Tylik Weeks 6-6, Forward, South Shore High School, 2G’z, Class of 2022 - A forward that has plenty of strength and is very skilled when on the court. Is able to go coast-to-coast when he has the ball in his hands. Is player that has the ability to shoot from three-point range. Is able to absorb contact when scoring and finishes strong.
