2022 NY Select Academy Varsity Roster
The NY Select Academy is a basketball program that was founded by Executive Director David Moses and Assistant Director, Luis Nieves during the summer of 2020. They are based in New York City and provide opportunities for student-athletes throughout the Tri State. New York Select since it’s inception has placed 18 players in College from D1 to Juco and NAIA.
The 2022 roster for the NY Select Academy Varsity team:
#0 Nika Kuchukhidze (2022) 6’0 guard, New Utrecht High - Kuchukhidze is a crafty guard with nice mid range game. Can score quickly and in bunches. Sneaky offensive rebounder. D3 potential.
#1 Tyseer Rahman (2022) 5’8 point guard, Bishop Loughlin High - Rahman is a speedy guard with tremendous 3pt range. Hard worker on defense. Crafty finisher around the basket for his size. High GPA. D3 prospect with low D2 ability.
#2 Nicholas Bocharov (2022) 5’10 point guard, Prestige Prep - Bocharov is a heady point guard who sees the floor well, shoots the midrange well and decent 3pt shooter. Willing defender with potential to grow. D3 level player with D2 potential.
#3 Tyreck TJ Morris (2022) 6’4 Brooklyn Democracy Academy - combo guard- Morris is a 3 level scorer who can get any shot he wants. Finishes above the rim. Can take over games offensively and defensively. Rebounds well as a guard. He has D1 ability, with NBA potential.
#5 Carson Davis (2023) 6’2 guard, Brooklyn Technical High - Davis is a guard who can play on or off the ball with ease. Knockdown shooter who has the ability to get to the basket and has a consistent mid range shot. Hard worker on the defensive end. Untapped potential, High GPA with D2 potential.
#11 Tymel Stevenson 6’7 stretch forward, Brooklyn Democracy Academy - Stevenson is active wing who can score on all 3 levels. Good defender and rebounder. Runs the floor well and finishes tough around the basket. D1 potential, High D2 talent.
#15 Elhadji Diop (2022) 6’5 small forward, Bridgeport Prep 2022 - Diop is a forward who can stretch the floor scoring from behind the arc. Can guard 1-4 positions. Tough in the paint, strong around the basket and great rebounder. D2 prospect with untapped potential.
#21 Jakkai Stith (2023) 6’1 guard, Hempstead High - Tough as nails big guard. He runs the offense with precision and effectively uses his size in the post vs. smaller guards. A dog on defense. Tough finisher around the basket. D2 potential.
#22 Phillip Khobot (2022) 6’7 wing, Sheepshead Bay High - Khobot is a long wing with a decent shot from 3 and a good mid-range game. With hard work and the right system, he has a high ceiling.
#24 Anthony Banister 6’5 wing, St Peter’s High - Banister is a smart player who takes advantage of his size and IQ to get scores from 10ft and below. Very vocal on defense and hard worker all around.
#32 Cadeem Ramsay 6’7 forward, Baldwin High - Ramsay ia a 1-5 defensive player, who changes shots at the basket as primary rim protector. Very active rebounder. Runs the floor well. Good finisher.
