IS8/Nike Spring Classic Standouts 4/23/22

On April 23, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to Intermediate School 8 in Jamaica, Queens for the second week of the IS8 Spring Classic, which is where many from the Tri-state area come to show that they’re game means more than their name. While many traveled out of state to play in front of coaches during the NCAA Live Period, those that stayed hone rose to the occasion. Here are the standouts from that day’s games:



Anthony Russo 6-0, Point Guard, Holy Cross High School, Beacon Elite, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for getting out on the break with the ball and looking to hit his teammates with the right passes. Loves to shoot from long range and is very alert when on the wing. Has the ability to be a leader when he’s out on the court.



Jaden Daughtry 6-6, Shooting Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Beacon Elite, Class of 2022 - A guard that has plenty of size on the perimeter and uses it to his advantage when on the court. Makes good drives to the basket and plays strong when on the perimeter. Has the ability to make good plays and hit jumpers from three-point range.



Latiek Briscoe 6-2, Shooting Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Beacon Elite, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to make big plays when he has the ball in his hands. Is able to create for himself off the dribble and makes strong drives to the basket. Has a penchant for playing above the rim and being aggressive when going up for a dunk.



Jakai Irby, 6-4, Forward, Newark Central High School (NJ), Team Blaze, Class of 2022 - A forward that is very mobile and has great footwork on the court. Is able to shoot from the perimeter and isn’t hesitant to pull up to shoot from the perimeter. Is able to get putbacks when going up to score in the low post.



Randy Crosby 6-1, Point Guard, Carolina Basketball Academy, NCE Smush, Class of 2022 - (Tyler JCC Commit) A guard with plenty of quickness on the court and has great playmaking abilities when on the floor. Is very crafty and a good decision-maker when he has the ball in his hands. Loves to drive to the basket when he has the chance and can shoot from the perimeter.



Dior Davis 6-2, Point Guard, Springfield Commonwealth Academy (MA), NCE Smush, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for being a playmaker and has the ability to make shots in multiple places on the court. Is good at using his speed to get down court and has the ability to obtain steals on the defensive end. Has the ability to make plays and finding teammates in order to put them in position to score.



Jordany Martinez, 5-10, Shooting Guard, Edward A. Reynolds West Side High School, NCE Smush, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the ability to find his teammates at the right spots and can find his teammates at the right spots every time he’s on the floor. Has the ability to anticipate the ball and is able to flash to the basket and score off his teammate’s pass. Loves to drive to the basket where he can make a layup easily.



Demarley Taylor 6-7, Forward, Mount Vernon High School, Gus Williams All-Stars, Class of 2022 - A forward that has the ability to use his strength in the low post and is fearless on the block. Is able to hit hook shots efficiently and is able to muscle his way to the basket and finish strong at the hole. Is able to attack the glass with precision and is able to get rebounds.



Tavien Tyler 5-6, Point Guard, Mount Vernon High School, Gus Williams All-Stars, Class of 2025 - A guard that is tougher than his height implies and plays bigger than his frame. A guard that has the ability to get downcourt easily and can control his team’s tempo when they’re on the offensive end. Has the ability to score and has the ability to set his teammates up for baskets at the right moments.



Jayden Austin, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Mount Vernon High School, Gus Williams All-Stars, Class of 2022 - A guard that is able to find his way to the basket with ease. Likes to run on the offensive end and is able to command attention for the ball. Is able to get his shot off efficiently and is able to drive to the basket.



Omari Hart, 6-4, Forward, Mount Vernon High School, Gus Williams All-Stars, Class of 2022 - A forward that has the ability to make his presence felt with his stature and physicality. Has the ability to absorb contact when on the floor and is able to attack on the low block and get rebounds. Is able to go up to the basket with strength and is a good finisher.



Tyrek Hall, 5-3, Point Guard, Transit Tech High School, Shockwave, Class of 2022 - A guard that has a penchant for being a leader on the floor and has the ability to play bigger than his height. Has the ability to make strong drives to the basket. Is able to find his teammates as they are streaking to the basket to score on the break.
