2018 Apparel Classic Top Performers

Sunday January 7, 2018, RecruitTheBronx was on hand to watch the 2018 Apparel Challenge at Christ The King HS in Queens, NY. The tournament featured the some of top programs in NYC that represent Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas. Here are our top prospects:
Richard Martelly 2018 6’0 Guard Boys and Girls HS - good 3pt shooter, good elevation on his jumpshot, crafty finisher on the drive, tough perimeter defender, quick hands plays the passing lanes, adept at taking charges, stays with play. Needs to get a tighter handle and distribute the ball more to be a combo guard at the next level.
David Petit Homme 2018 6’6 Forward Boys and Girls HS - can get above the rim, active defender good timing on blocks, can get chase down blocks, athletic rebounder, runs the floor hard, long and lanky frame with long arms. Needs to be a consistent finisher on the drive, be more consistent with his mid-range shot, work on his hands and secure the ball on the catch, needs to get stronger to bang down low.
Julian Champagne 2019 6’7 Small Forward Bishop Loughlin - good catch and shoot game, quick first step attacks the basket strong, slasher who can finish thru contact on the drive, explosive leaper, quality defender inside-out, athletic rebounder. Needs to tighten his handle on the perimeter to create more scoring opportunities and space.
Justin Champagne 2019 6’6 Forward Bishop Loughlin - can score inside-out, decent post game for a tweener Forward, can finish thru contact in close, throws good outlet passes, good defender, quick hands plays the passing lanes. Needs to show his outside shot to keep defenders on edge.
Chad Venning 2019 6’9 Center Bishop Loughlin - okay inside finisher, decent rebounder, hard to move in the paint on both ends, big body. Needs to secure the ball better down low, be more aggressive on the court and develop a low post game.
JaQuan Carlos 2021 6’0 Point Guard Thomas Jefferson HS - floor general with good court vision, good 3pt shooter who moves well without the ball, quick release, good balance and footwork on the catch and shoot, high IQ on both ends. Needs to move his feet quicker on defense.
Marcus Burnett 2020 6’5 Wing Thomas Jefferson HS - good 3pt shooter, good pull-up jumper good elevation, can handle the ball on the perimeter, can finish thru traffic on the drive, aggressive on offense, shows good effort on defense. Needs to get stronger in order to take contact and still be effective at the next level.
Moses Brown 2018 7’2 Center Archbishop Molloy - athletic inside finisher uses his length to his advantage, decent post game, good agility for his size, runs the court well, rim protector, good rebounder. Needs to be a more consistent inside finisher thru contact, to get stronger to be able to bang and fight down low, and continue to develop and expand his post game.
Khalid Moore 2018 6’6 Wing Archbishop Molloy - attacks the basket strong can finish thru traffic, athletic dunker gets off the floor in a hurry, can go coast to coast, point-forward ability makes good passes, lockdown defender moves his feet well and has quick hands, athletic rebounder, hustles hard on both ends. Needs to keep improving his outside shot to make him more versatile on offense and look for his shot more.
Frankie Policelli 2018 6’8 Small Forward Long Island Lutheran - catch and shoot 3pt sniper, decent finisher on the drive, good rebounder, lefty. Needs to work on his perimeter handle to open up his offense game, be more aggressive on the defensive end, and get stronger to be more effective thru contact.
Donatas Kupsas 2018 6’9 Power Forward Long Island Lutheran - can stretch the floor out to the 3pt line, can finish thru traffic, decent post game, good rebounder shows good effort, runs the floor well. Needs to improve his post game.
Tykei Greene 2018 6’5 Small Forward Long Island Lutheran - attacks the basket strong can finish thru contact, can handle the ball on the perimeter, good slashing moves, explosive leaper, active defender moves his feet well, decent rebounder, strong body. Needs to be a consistent outside shooter to be a combo wing at the next level.
Essam Mostafa 2019 6’8 Power Forward Long Island Lutheran - consistent inside finisher can finish thru contact, carves out space down low hard to move on the block, good rebounder, shows great emotion on the court, big body. Needs to develop his low post game and trim down more.
Alan Griffin 2018 6’6 Combo Wing Stepinac - good mid-range shot, effective pull-up jumper gets good elevation, adept at drawing contact on the shot and drive, good handle creates separation for his shot, moves well without the ball, good hands. Needs to get stronger to be more effective thru contact.
Joel Soriano 2019 6’10 Center Stepinac - athletic inside finisher, decent post moves, rim protector good timing on his blocks, good rebounder, long arms. Needs to improve his low post game.
RJ Davis 2020 5’11 Point Guard Stepinac - floor general controls the tempo, shifty handle creates good separation and create driving lanes, crafty finisher thru traffic, okay 3pt shooter, quick first step, moves without the ball. Needs to be a more consistent outside shooter, streaky at times.
Xavier Wilson 2018 6’7 Forward Stepinac - can finish thru contact on the drive, explosive leaper will dunk on defenders, quick first step, active defender quick hands on defense. Needs to work on his perimeter handle and his outside shot to be a wing at the next level.
Kofi Cockburn 2019 6’11 Center Christ The King - strongest big in NYC, strong inside finisher, gets above the rim and will dunk on anyone, good shot blocker, tenacious rebounder on both ends, runs the floor very well at his size, big and strong frame. Needs to secure the ball better inside and improve low post moves.
Tyson Walker 2019 5’11 Point Guard Christ The King - floor general controls the offense, great court vision and playmaking ability, leads his teammates to easy baskets, consistent finisher on the drive, pesky perimeter defender, sneaky athleticism. Needs to get stronger to be more effective thru contact.
Moussa Cisse 2021 6’11 Center Christ The King - athletic inside finisher, jumps out the gym throws down major dunks on the break, can stretch the floor out to the 3pt line, athletic rim protector had 8 blocks in the first half, runs the floor very well at his size, long arms. Needs to add muscle to bang down low and improve low post moves.
