2022 NY Select Showcase Top Performers
On May 6 and 7, New York Select Academy hosted a showcase for a number of the region’s grassroots teams at the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, NY. Below are the profiles on a number of the top performers.
Deivone Tanksley (2022) 6’5 wing, Achievement First High (CT) Showcase team: AFB Freedom - Tanksley showed a good ability to score the ball at all three levels. He finished above the rim on numerous occasions. He was also very good on the defensive end and in rebounding the ball.
Lakota Livingston (2023) 6’0 guard High School for Construction, Showcase team: Spartan Elite - A crafty guard that can handle the rock and facilitate.)He can also score at all three levels. Defensively, he can guard 1-3.
Elijah Garcia (2022) 6’0 guard, We Believe Academy (CT) Showcase team: AFB Freedom - Garcia had a great showcase in showing his ability to make shots in a variety of ways. He hit big time shots to force his first game into OT, scoring the final seven points in regulation. He is a hard working defender and a very coachable athlete.
Kemani Thompson (2022) 5’11 guard, Sport and Medical Sciences Academy (CT) Showcase team: AFB Freedom - Thompson is very tough defender. He can shoot the 3 and has a good pull-up jumper. He also does a great job running the offense and setting guys up.
Elhadji “Ely” Diop (2022) 6’5 forward, Bridgeport Prep (CT) Showcase team: NY Select - Diop is a tough forward who’s improved 3 pt shooting and excellent mid range games opens up the offense for teammates. Tough rebounder who’s defends 1-4 positions. He has untapped potential and room to grow into a 20-10 guy every game.
Tyreck “TJ” Morris (2022) 6’4 guard, Democracy Prep Charter High, Showcase team: NY Select - Morris is a high level scorer at 3 levels. The game comes easy for him when he gets going. With his athleticism and ability to finish above the rim, it makes him almost unguardable. He is potentially professional level talent.
Tymell Stevenson (2022) 6’7 forward, Democracy Prep Charter High, Showcase team: NY Select - Stevenson is a game changing forward With the ability to score on all 3 levels. His 3pt shooting has improved tremendously which helps stretch defenses, opening up driving lanes for teammates. Very efficient finisher around the basket and good offensive rebounder. Active defender with room to grow. Stevenson is the complete package.
Demari Holder Showcase team: Anacoda All Stars
Justin Leddo (2023) small forward 6’5 175lbs, Benjamin Cardozo High, Showcase team:Spartan Elite - Leddo Plays 2-5, at both ends of the court. He can stretch the defense with the three, hit the pull up and score around the basket. Has good length and athleticism.

Yanni Mousios (2022) 6’5 Benjamin Cardozo High High, Showcase team: Spartan Elite -
Jackson Bartley (2023) 5’10 guard Brooklyn Friends School Showcase team: NY Select 16u - Bartley attacks constantly attacks the rim making tough inside shots. He’s Still developing his 3pt shot He’s a ferocious defender with untapped potential to be even better. Making strides every day to becoming one of the better 2 way guards.
Shamar Pink (2023) 6’3 guard/forward, Hempstead High, Showcase team: NY Select Academy 16u - A skilled big guard with the ability to play 1-4 positions. He can score on all 3 levels. With more work and improvement, he will be a handful his senior year.
Will Lodico (2023) 5’11 point guard Campus Magnet High, (2022) 6’0 guard High School for Construction, Showcase team: Spartan Elite - A point guard who can score, but also loves to facilitate. lays the game with an old school flair on both ends of the court
