Mayhem in Maryland Top Performers

On Saturday, May 7,  RecruitTheBronx.com went south on I 95 and paid a visit to the Park School of Baltimore in Pikesville, Maryland for the Mayhem in Maryland tournament. The event was put together by the Baltimore-based Team Thrill, which is sponsored by Under Armour and NBA player, Will “The Thrill” Barton. In this tournament, we saw two 17u teams from the NYC metropolitan area, Riverside Church and the New York Jayhawks as they took on some of the finest talents in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. Here are the standouts the two games that we caught:


Adam Nije, Jr  6-2, Point Guard, Hillcrest Prep (AZ), Riverside Church, Class of 2024 - A guard that has plenty of quickness in his game and is able to change speeds at all times. Knows how to facilitate to his teammates and can get them the ball in the right places. Is able to drive to the basket and is able to create for himself off the dribble and get himself off a nice jumper.


Cameron Estevez 6-3, Point Guard, Canterbury School, Riverside Church, Class of 2023 - A guard that is very shifty and is able to make moves with the ball with ease. Has the ability to get downcourt with precision and is able to set up his teammates with good passes and is able to help them score. Is able to get his shot off efficiently from the top of the key.


Godwswill Erheriene 6-9, Forward, Iona Preparatory School, Riverside Church, Class of 2024 - A forward that has the ability to use his strength to muscle his way to the basket. Is very strong physically & has a great size advantage in the post. Is able to block shots and obtain rebounds at both ends of the court.


Emile Johnson 6-10, Quality Academy (NJ), Riverside Church, Class of 2023 - A forward that is solid and is willing to contribute di his team every time out on the floor. Is very active on the class and can alter the opposition’s shot or block it when on the defensive end. Has solid moves in the post area and can hold his own on the offensive end.


Josh Pascarelli 6-2, Shooting Guard, St Francis Preparatory High School, Riverside Church, Class of 2023 - A guard that gives great effort every time he steps out on the floor. Has the ability to shoot from long range and is able to create for himself off the dribble. Has plenty of athleticism when it comes to driving to the basket.


Jonathan Sigurdsson 6-10, Forward, Brunswick School (CT), Riverside Church, Class of 2023 - A forward that is long and agile and is able to make his presence felt on the perimeter. Has a long wingspan, which allows him to get rebounds on both ends of the floor. Knows when to drive to the basket and is able to absorb contact when going up to score.


Jean Aranaguren 6-3, Shooting Guard, Upper Room Christian School, New York Jayhawks, Class of 2023 - A guard that has a penchant for scoring in bunches every time he gets the ball. Has the ability to make plays in order to get his teammates in the right position to score. Is able to drive to the basket with ease and is fearless when it comes to absorbing contact when going up to the basket.


Ugonna Oyenso 7-0, Center, Putnam Science Academy, New York Jayhawks, Class of 2023 - A forward with a long wingspan and powerful frame that allows him to establish his presence in the low post. Is able to dominate at the rim and is able to absorb contact, which allows him to draw fouls. Is able to obtain rebounds and block shots in the paint area. Is able to put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket.


Carnegie Johnson 6-0, Point Guard, Blair Academy (NJ), New York Jayhawks, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to jumpstart an offense and make his teammates go. Has plenty of energy on the floor and is able to drive fearlessly when going to the basket. Is a player that likes to score in bunches & has a good jumper from the key.


Luke Paragon, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Blair Academy (NJ), New York Jayhawks, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to create for himself off the dribble and can drive to the hole with ease.  Is good at hitting shots from three-point range & has a nice shooting touch. Has the ability to make plays off the ball and is very athletic when going to the rim.


Finley Sheridan 6-9, Forward, Canterbury School, New York Jayhawks, Class of 2023 - A forward that is very skilled and can play the three and four positions. Is able to play on the perimeter & is able to make a move every time he has the ball in his hands on the wing. Is very athletic and can make a shot from long range.


Asim Jones, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Paterson Charter High School (NJ), New York Jayhawks, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to put the ball on the floor and can attack the basket with ease. Has a penchant for shooting from long range and a nice shooting touch. Is fearless when driving to the hole and can absorb contact, which makes it easy for him to draw fouls.


Jalijah Grant, 6-4, Shooting Guard, St. Benedict’s Preparatory High School (NJ), New York Jayhawks, Class of 2023 - A guard that is an asset to his team because he is able to bring toughness and skills. Is able to shoot from long range and is a solid playmaker. Has the ability to set up his teammates for passes that can aid in them being able to score.


Ryan Williams, Jr. 6-5, Shooting Guard, St. Benedict’s Preparatory High School (NJ), New York Jayhawks, Class of 2023 - A guard that has a penchant for using his athleticism when going to the basket. Has the ability to see where his teammates are moving when he’s moving on the perimeter so that he can give them passes. Has the ability to play above the rim when going up to the basket.
