IS8/Nike Spring Classic Standouts 5/18/22

On Saturday, May 18 , RecruitTheBronx.com made another visit to Intermediate School 8 in Jamaica, Queens for the IS8 Spring Classic, which was in its final week of the regular season. In these games, there were plenty of underrated prospects in the gym giving it everything they had while on the floor. Here are the standouts from that day’s games:

 

Derek Varlack 5-11, Point Guard, Half Hollow Hills East, Team Underrated, Class of 2022 - A guard that is able to bring the ball up and has the ability to create for himself off the dribble and can make his presence felt on the floor. Has a chance to set his teammates up for baskets and gives them the opportunity to flourish when on the floor. Has the ability to play tough defense on his man, which can aid in him getting steals on the floor.


Alijah Lovelace 5-11, Shooting Guard, Suffield Academy, Team Underrated, Class of 2022 - A guard that is able to bring the ball up the court. Loves to play off the ball & looks to get open for the ball in the right spaces. Has a nice shooting stroke from three-point range. Has plenty of speed in his game, which he uses to his advantage.

 

Isaiah Wright 6-2, Cardozo High School, Learn The Game/Bello, Class of 2023 - A guard with plenty of height that is able to put the ball on the floor and post up against the opposition. Is able to absorb physical contact when driving to the basket. Makes plenty of smooth moves to the basket when driving. Is a great defender that sticks with his man wherever the opposition is moving.

 

Makhaya Moore 6-7, Forward, Bishop Loughlin High School, Class of 2023 A forward that has long arms and has the ability to make his presence felt in the low post. Had plenty of explosion in his game at all times. Is fearless when going up for a rebound & has the ability to block shots.

 

Joseph Boateng 6-3, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Team Deuce, Class of 2022 - A forward that has versatility on the floor and can put the ball on the floor and get downcourt with ease. Is able to use his good footwork to get to the basket with ease. Is able to use his strength to absorb physical contact when getting a rebound or going up to score.

 

Kentrell Evans, 6-4, Forward, Robeson High School, Team Deuce, Class of 2022 - A forward that has the ability to put the ball on the floor and is able to drive to the basket. Has plenty of strength and is very agile when on the floor. Has the ability to step out on the key and shoot from the perimeter. Has the ability to impose his strength on the opposition when going up for a rebound.

 

Dayjon Anderson 5-10, Point Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate, Team Deuce, Class of 2023 - A guard that is lightning-quick and is able to get downcourt with ease. Is able to absorb contact when driving to the basket with ease. Has the ability to find his teammates at the right moments, which aids in them getting baskets. Loves to run on the fast break.

 

Graham Hall 6-3, Shooting Guarc, Friends Seminary School, PVO Elite, Class of 2022 - A guard that has plenty of strength and has plenty of range on his shot. Is very good at attacking the glass and getting out on the fast break. Has the ability to drive to the basket and is a good finisher in the lane.

 

Mohamed Soumahoro 6-6, Forward, KIPP NYC College Prep, PVO Elite, Class of 2022 - A forward that has plenty of strength and can make his presence felt in the low post area with his size. Is fearless when going up to obtain rebounds & is good at attacking the glass and blocking shots with reckless abandon.

 

Zaphian Scott 6-4, Shooting Guard, Boys & Girls High School, PVO Elite, Class of 2022 - A guard that has the opportunity to make smart plays on the floor. Always looks to pass the ball to his teammates and put them in the right position to score. Is great at driving to the basket and is fearless when it comes to contact.

 

Tywan Evans 5-7, Point Guard, Thomas Jefferson High School, Killa Dawgs, Class of 2023 - A guard that loves to drive to the basket and is fearless when going to the cup. Has plenty of confidence with his shot, especially when shooting from the top of the key. Has the ability to rack up assists at the right moments.

 

Tristan Davis 5-9, Point Guard, Thomas Jefferson High School, Killa Dawgs, Class of 2025 -A guard that is lightning-quick & has the ability to attack the lane when looking to score. Is a good passer and finds his teammates at the right time, so that they are able to score easily. Is a great decision maker when he has the ball in his hands.

 

Peyton Seals, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Ramapo High School (NJ), Express Ballers, Class of 2024 - A guard that has a penchant on taking over the game with his scoring mentality. Is able to get free and open, and when he gets the ball, he has a nice shooting stroke from three-point range. Has the ability to drive to the basket and is a good finisher.

 

Aiyan Walker, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Barringer High School (NJ), Express Ballers, Class of 2022 - A guard that has plenty of speed and is able to attack the lane with fearlessness. Has shifty moves which aid in him getting past his defenders. Is a great finisher at the basket and is able to absorb contact when going up for a basket.
