2017 Brooklyn Collegiate Invitational

On Thanksgiving Saturday, Brooklyn Collegiate hosted six teams in three games. Here were the top performers:


Brandon Lewis – 2018 Guard, 6’2 Eagle Academy II- Very Athletic player who can really jump out the building. Can drive to the basket with either hand and loves to slash; but will pass the ball to the open player. Also a solid-Mid range shooter. Needs to work on his defense.


Shamar Baker - 2019 Guard, 5’11 Eagle Academy II- Has the ability to dribble the basketball with both hands and can get into the gaps from any angle on the court. Great court vision and reads the floor very well. Needs to tune up his offensive skills.


Adriece Payne - 2018 Point Guard, 5’9 Eagle Academy II-  Have a scorer mentality and can really mix things up on the court. Has great court vision and makes the right play. Have the ability to knock down the 3. Needs to improve his defensive awareness.


Tyrese Baptiste - 2018 Forward, 6’6 Eagle Academy II – Very big for his size but can move very well. Great Feet work. Rebounds the basketball on both ends of the court and plays above the rim. He is truly in Shape which benefits his game tremendously. Needs to polish his offensive game.


Jonathan Durodola - 2019 Guard, 6’1 August Martin HS - He is able to handle the basketball with both hands and can go either way. Loves to drive the basketball and has the ability to get into the paint and finish; as well as draw fouls. Needs to improve his shooting and court vision.


Yarayah Evans - 2019 Forward, 6’4 Westinghouse HS - Very athletic player and plays above the rim on every possession. Attacks the glass very well on both ends of the floor. Can finish very well around the basket from dump downs and hand offs. Needs to polish his offensive skills.


Jose Losado - 2018 Guard, 6’0 Westinghouse HS - Very lanky guard who can get to his spots on the court. Great ball handler with both hands and can go both ways. Decent shooter as well. Needs to increase his strength and improve his 3pt shooting.


Nyrie Hicks - 2018 Guard, 6’1 Westinghouse HS – Great Defender; especially Man to Man. Gets into you defensively for the whole game. Loves to attack the basket from all angles of the court. Looks to score first then pass. Needs to improve his shooting.


Cheikh Dia - 2018 Guard, 6’2 Westinghouse HS -  He is a shooter first and foremost. If he is left wide open he will shoot it and will shoot off the dribble as well. Can handle the ball as well but does not drive much. Needs to improve on scoring in different ways and improve his defensive awareness.


Robert Taylor II - 2020 Forward, 6’5 Westinghouse HS - Rebounds the basketball very well on both ends of the floor. Plays above the rim on every possession. Very Athletic and can finish around the rim with both hands. Must Improve his Jump shot.


Dwight Reed - 2018 Swing, 6’4 Queens HS of Teaching - Plays under control on every possession which is rare at the HS level. Great offensive skills with a slashing handle to get him to the rim. Can hit the Mid-Range and can finish around the basket with both hands. Needs to improve his 3pt shooting.


Tafari Serrett – 2018 Guard, 6’0 Queens HS of Teaching – Has good strength, especially with the basketball. Also serves him well on defense and he knows how to use it to his advantage. Drive and score first guard but will pass the ball to the open man. Needs to improve his Jump Shot.


Justin Anderson - 2018 Guard, 5’10 Queens HS of Teaching – Very quick and can get into the lane with ease. Can also handle the ball with both hands and has solid court vision. Needs to improve his offensive skill set.


Christopher Goodwin - 2018 Swing, 6’1 Brooklyn Collegiate HS -  Good Slasher and strong for his size. Looks to drive and get into the lane on most offensive possessions. Great defensive awareness. Needs to improve his jump shooting capabilities.


Majesty Johnson - 2020, Point Guard, 5’8 Brooklyn Collegiate HS – Very fast lefty guard who uses his speed to his advantage. Looks to score but does a great job in controlling the pace of the game, finding the open man and limiting his turnovers. Needs to improve his jumpshot and layup package for his size.


Erlyn Ramirez - 2019, Forward, 6’7 Brooklyn Collegiate HS - Very Strong Big man. Plays strictly in the paint and can finish a
round the rim with both hands. Has great feet work as well. Needs to work on his jump shooting and defending other big men.


Amadou Traore - 2019, Forward, 6’7 Brooklyn Collegiate HS - Very physical player inside. Attacks the glass on both ends of the floor and has the ability to finish around the rim with both hands. Solid defender. Must improve his offensive skillset.


Mekhi Warren - 2018, Forward, 6’6 Hillhouse HS (CT) - Very Athletic forward and plays above the rim on every possession.  Solid handle for his size and will put it on the floor. Likes to drive for the most part. Needs to improve his jump shooting and effort defensively.


Rayshawn Brewer – 2018, Forward, 6’6 Hillhouse HS (CT) - Very versatile forward. Great spot up shooter and can fill it up quickly. Powerful inside with great rebounding ability. Needs to become a better ball handler.


J’Vaughn Hoover - 2018, Forward, 6’3 Hillhouse HS (CT) - Amazing wingspan and can play multiple positions. Drive first kind of guard and looks for his shot most possessions. Will pass to the open man and make the right play but looks to score. Decent shooter. Needs to improve his on-ball defense to compliment his wingspan.


Davon Warner - 2018, Guard, 6’0 Hillhouse HS (CT) - Great shooter who has NBA range. Can hit the Spot up jumper and can also shoot off the dribble. Also have the ability to get his defenders in the air and step in for his jump shot. If left wide open, he will knock it down 100 percent of the time. Has a great handle and can drive the basketball with both hands. Needs to improve his court vision for a combo guard.
