2022 NY vs. NY Week 4

On Tuesday, July 26, RecruitTheBronx made it to the Colonel Charles Young Playground on the West Side of Harlem for Week 4 of NY vs. NY, which is the final week before the start of the playoffs. This week, Brooklyn’s Gersh Park matched up against Greenwich Village’s West 4th Street and then came the matchup between the home team, the Tri-State Classic, against their visitors from across the bridge, the Bronx’s Watson Basketball Classic. Here are the standouts for this Tuesday’s game:

 

Connor Sprattley 6-0, Point Guard, Thomas Jefferson High School, Gersh Park, Class of 2025 -A guard that has the ability to get to the basket with ease and has a penchant for showing his playmaking skills. Has the ability to pick off the opposing ballhandler for a steal, due to his ability to play great defense. Has an affinity for distributing the ball to his teammates and putting them in position to score.

 

Eric Acker 6-1, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy II, Gersh Park, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to find multiple ways to score on the court. Has a penchant for going up strong to the basket and is a force when it comes to his athleticism. Is fearless when it comes to absorbing contact and for drawing a foul. Is able to go up and obtain rebounds when going to the glass.

 

Keyshawn Mitchell 6-8, Forward, Woodstock Academy (CT), Gersh Park, Class of 2023 -A forward that is mobile and has a long wingspan on the court. His arm-reach gives him the ability to provide his team with defensive assistance in the form of blocks. Is able to go up strong in the low post and can use his frame to muscle his way to the basket.

 

Kyrone Alexander 6-5, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Gersh Park, Class of 2023 -A guard that can come in and make an impact for his team in a variety of ways. Is a player that can drive to the basket and can finish with strength. Uses his build to obtain rebounds and is able to absorb contact when in the low post.

 

Treyshawn Sheppard 6-6, Forward, Eagle Academy II, West 4th, Class of 2023 - A forward that is able to make his presence felt in many ways when he’s on the court. Is able to get to the basket with ease and is able to use his physicality to dominate in and around the basket. Is fearless when it comes to contact in the low post and is always successful at getting to the free throw line.

 

Phil Grant, Jr. 6-5, Shooting Guard, Tennessee Prep Academy, West 4th, Class of 2024 - A guard that has a great sense of awareness when he’s on the floor. Has a nice shooting touch from the outside and is a player that can drive to the basket with ease. Is fearless when it comes to contact and has the ability to use his hands to get either blocks and rebounds.

 

Ian Jackson 6-6, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Tri-State, Class of 2024 - A guard that has a penchant for making effortless plays and scoring at will. Has a nice shooting touch, as he is not afraid to shoot from long range. Is able to create for himself off the dribble and is able to find ways to get the ball. Is also a good facilitator to his teammates and gives them the ball when they need it in order to score.

 

Elijah Moore 6-4, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Tri-State, Class of 2024 - A guard that is a high-volume shooter that looks to score during many moments on the floor. Is able to shoot from long range when he’s on the three-point line. Has the ability to dish the ball to his teammates and put them in position to score. Finds ways to get to the free-throw line.

 

Youssouf Singare 7-0, Center, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Watson, Class of 2023 -A forward that can take over a game with his size and his ability to control the paint area. Is able to dominate around the rim and can also shoot from three-point range. Has the ability to obtain rebounds in the low post and can also get to the free-throw line.

 

Seydou Traore 6-5, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Watson, Class of 2023 - A forward that is very versatile in the low post area and can also step out and shoot from long range. Is able to put the ball on the floor and can absorb contact when trying to go to the basket. Has a good eye for finding his teammates and is able to kick out passes to his teammates.

 

Jahmere Tripp 6-6, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Watson, Class of 2023 - A forward that is able to use his toughness when driving to the basket and going up for a basket in order to get to the line. Is very versatile, as he is able to dish the ball to his teammates so that they can score and is a player that can go up for a rebound. Is a good free-throw shooter from the free-throw line.
