2022 NY vs NY Semi Finals Top Performers

On Tuesday evening, August 9, RecruitTheBronx.com was at Linden Park in East New York, Brooklyn for the semifinals of Nike’s NY vs. NY Tournament, in which the winner of each game would advance to the championship game on Saturday, August 13th, at Rucker Park in Harlem. Queens’ Lincoln Park Classic defeated The Bronx’s Watson Basketball Classic and the home team, Gersh Park Basketball, beat Manhattan’s Dyckman Basketball. Here are the standouts for those games:

 

Dellquan Warren, 6-1, Point Guard, Keystone Academy (PA), Lincoln Park, Class of 2024 - A guard that has plenty of quickness and has the ability to run on the fast break. Is a player with plenty of athleticism and loves to play above the rim. Is a player that can play great defense, as he is able to obtain steals and kick it out to his teammates or just take it to the basket.

 

Chike N’defo 6-6, Forward, Vermont Academy (VT), Lincoln Park, Class of 2024 - A forward that is able to establish his presence in the low-post area and can make his presence felt when it comes to his post presence. Has a great wingspan and is attentive when it comes to blocking shots. Is able to post up on his defender and has great footwork when in the post area.

 

Mouhamed Dioubate 6-7, Forward, Putnam Science Academy, Lincoln Park, Class of 2023 - A forward that maintains his presence in the paint area. Has the ability to be versatile on the floor and does a little bit of everything on the court. Has the ability to score with precision on the inside and plays above the rim. Is a force when it comes to getting rebounds on both ends of the court.

 

Armoni Zeigler 6-4, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Watson, Class of 2023 - A guard that has plenty of energy on the court and likes to run on the fast break. Has plenty of hustle in his game, whether it is going to the hole to grab rebounds or sticking with his man to get rebounds. Has a penchant for getting to the free-throw line and is a good shooter.

 

Christian Jones 6-4, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Watson, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to take charge of his team. Even when he is not scoring, he has a penchant for finding his teammates and giving them passes in order to get them in position to score. Is able to drive to the basket and can absorb plenty of contact in order to get to the free-throw line.

 

Jahmere Tripp 6-6, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Watson, Class of 2023 - A forward that does not have to score to make an impact on the game. Is very versatile and can do anything on the court, which includes statistical categories such as getting blocks, steals and rebounds. Has the ability to drive to the basket when on the court.

 

Ty-Laur Johnson 6-0, Point Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Gersh Park, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to jumpstart the offense every time he is on the court and makes sure that his teammates feed off of his energy on the floor. Is able to find ways to get to the basket and is very fearless when going to the hole. Is able to get to the free-throw line and is able to make most of his shots from the charity stripe.

 

Kyrone Alexander 6-5, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Gersh Park, Class of 2023 - A guard that has plenty of length and size and has the ability to make his presence felt with his play. His ability to use his body to absorb contact is good as he shows toughness and willingness to be a force on the court. Is able to get to the basket with ease.

 

Connor Sprattley 6-0, Point Guard, Thomas Jefferson High School, Gersh Park, Class of 2025 - A guard that provides plenty of poise and plenty of energy for his team on the court. Is able to make great plays, especially when it comes to driving to the basket or getting assists by passing to his teammates. Is fearless when going to the basket and uses his quickness to get up and down the floor and turns it into a scoring opportunity.

 

Eric Acker 6-1, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy II, Gersh Park, Class of 2023 - A guard that is always ready to get a bucket every time on the court. Has the ability to shoot from long range and is not afraid to take a shot that he likes. He is mainly known for going to the basket and is great for finishing at the basket.

 

Tai Turnage 5-10, Point Guard, St. Raymond High School, Dyckman, Class 2025 - A guard that has the ability to see the floor well and can get to the basket easily. Always trusts his judgment when it comes to shooting from long range and is willing to settle for a jumper. Is fearless when it comes to going to the basket, despite his frame.

 

Diovion Middleton 6-3, Shooting Guard, Woodstock Academy, Dyckman - A guard that has plenty of strength and is able to withstand physical contact when going to the hole. Knows when to attack the basket and is good at trying to get to the free-throw line. Wheat the charity stripe, it is a given that he will make the shot.
