City Is Mine Top Performers 8/12/22

On Friday, August 12, RecruitTheBronx.com was on hand at the Dunlevy Milbank Center in Harlem for the City is Mine Basketball Classic. On this date, four high talent teams competed for the chance to represent New York City in the event’s national tournament, which will be taking place at Hostos Community College in The Bronx on August 27th. In the end, it was Real Skills, who repeated as champions for the second year in a row. Here are the standouts from Friday’s games:

 

Tai Turnage 5-10, Point Guard, St. Raymond High School, Real Skills, Class of 2025 - A guard who is poised and does not get rattled easily when it comes to any challenges that come his way. Despite his diminutive frame, he is able to get to the basket with ease. Is able to make his presence felt with his passing ability on the floor.

 

Brandon Gardner 6-7, Forward, Christ the King High School, Real Skills, Class of 2023 - (Committed to St John’s) A forward that is able to assert his dominance every time he is on the floor. Is a strong rebounder and is very powerful every time he gets to the basket. Is a player that can make his presence felt above the rim, as he is able to make powerful drives to the rim.

 

Brandon Williams 6-8, Forward, Christ the King High School, Real Skills, Class of 2023 - A forward that is able to put the ball on the floor and is able to get down court easily. Is a force when it comes to the boards and is able to make an impact in many ways when on the court. Is great when it comes to offensive possessions, as he is able to get to the hole.

 

Shay John Boluwasefe 6-7, Forward, Forest Hills High School, Real Skills, Class of 2023 - A forward that has plenty of energy and physicality and is an asset to his team every time he is on the court. Is able to adapt to his physicality and can make his presence felt with his ability to grab rebounds every time he’s on the floor. Is a very athletic presence, as he is able to play above the rim every time.

 

Adam Nije 6-2, Point Guard, Hillcrest Prep School (AZ), Team Shine, Class of 2024 - A guard that has a penchant for getting to the basket and is very smart wit the ball. Is great with his court vision and is good at getting his teammates the ball under different circumstances. Has a great penchant for getting past his defenders every time to get to the basket.

 

Emile Johnson 6-10, Forward, Northfield Mount Hermon School (MA), Team Shine, Class of 2023 - A forward that has a long wingspan and the ability to hold his own in the post area. Has the ability to alter or block the shot of the opposition every time he’s on the court. Has the ability to get to absorb physical contact when in the post in order to draw fouls and get to the free throw line or to score.

 

Cameron Estevez 6-4, Point Guard, Canterbury School, Team Shine, Class of 2023 - A guard that is able to do many things when on the floor. Has a penchant for driving to the basket with precision and is fearless whenever he goes up to score. Is great at driving past his defender and has the ability to shoot from three-point range every time he’s on the floor.

 

Godswill Erhiene 6-8, Forward, Iona Preparatory School, Team Shine, Class of 2024 - A forward that has the ability to make his presence felt in the paint every time he’s in the post. Has a penchant for showing off his wingspan when he’s on the court. Has the ability to block shots on the defensive end and is able to muscle his way to the basket.

 

Jayden Williams 5-10, Point Guard, Blair Academy (NJ), Milbank, Class of 2024 - A guard that has great playmaking ability and has the ability to see where his teammates are at all times. Has the ability to speed up or slow down the tempo when he’s in control of the ball on the floor. Is fearless when trying to go to score.


Tarique Foster 6-7, Forward, Putnam Science Academy, Milbank, Class of 2023 - A forward that has the ability to use his strength and wingspan on the floor. Brings plenty of energy and size to his team whenever he is on the floor. Is very dominant on the offensive end when it comes to playing above the rim.

 

Elijah Moore 6-4, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Milbank, Class of 2024 - A guard that has a solid offensive game and brings plenty of energy when on the court. If he is not heavily guarded, he will torch a team with his shooting from three-point range. If allowed, he will drive to the basket and can use his upper-body strength to get up for a layup or throw down a dunk.

 

Connor Sprattley 6-0, Forward, Thomas Jefferson High School, United Brooklyn, Class of 2025 - A guard that brings plenty of toughness and determination whenever he is on the floor. He is willing to take on whatever defender comes his way and is able to get past them with no problem. Is able to get his shot off efficiently and can get to the basket at all times.


Kyrone Alexander 6-5, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, United Brooklyn, Class of 2023 - A forward with plenty of size and skill when he’s on the court. Is able to impose his will on the opposition with his strength and also his ability to put the ball on the floor. Is able to absorb contact and is able to muscle his way to the basket when he’s on the court.

 

Jahmere Tripp 6-6, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, United Brooklyn, Class of 2023 - A forward with plenty of great instincts every time he is on the floor. Has the ability to impose his strength on the opposition and can make his presence felt with his athleticism. Is able to play above the rim and throws down dunks with authority.

 

Eric Acker 6-1, Point Guard, Eagle Academy II, United Brooklyn, Class of 2023 - A guard that is always lights-out on the offensive end and has a tendency to be a playmaker on the court. Knows when to make great plays on the floor and can take over a game when he has the ball in his hands. Has a penchant for driving to the basket and has a good jump shot
