2022-23 Hamden Hall Country Day Season Preview

Hamden Hall Country Day School was founded in 1912 and is a coeducational private day school in Hamden, CT, educating students in preschool through grade 12. Their boys varsity basketball team competes in NEPSAC Class B (mid size schools) and the Fairchester Athletic Association conference. Veteran college coach Sean Doherty is entering 6th year in the prep school ranks at HHCD.

 

For 2022-23, HHCD has a solid returning group, including multiple guys who will play in college. They have also added a couple of new members to the team, who were top players from previous schools. Below are the players in their fall’s Open Gyms on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30pm . All are exceptional students.


Matteo Crisanti (2023) 6’6, 210 lb forward - A good size strong forward that shoots the three well. Runs the floor hard and athletic on finishes at rim. Rebounds hard on both ends. Much improved shot Blocker. Has developed a simple post game. Plays AAU with The New Haven Heat. 4.0 gpa  


Alex Puhl (2023) 6’3, 180 lb, guard - High IQ, big time shooter with solid ball handling skills and makes plays for his teammates. Defends and is a willing rebounder. He has a great work ethic and will dive on loose balls. Plays AAU with Project Triple Threat. 4.3 gpa.  NCSA profile.

 

Ethan Bessoni (2024) 6’1 guard - Transfer from Xavier High (CT). A lefty shooter that has a consistent jumper from anywhere on the floor. Strong body and has the ability to pull up in the middle of the lane over taller defenders, and create open shots for his teammates. Plays on-ball defense hard and puts pressure on the ball handler at a high level. Great student 3.6 gpa

 

Mason Gorham (2024) 6’3 wing- Good sized wing shooter with added strength. Exceptional mid-range shooter especially from high post and corners. Much improved three point shooter and has hit multiple in many games . Shown ability to rebound on both ends. Plays AAU with Project Triple Threat. 4.0 gpa  


Uchenna Onwuasoanya (2024) 6’1 combo guard- Athletic with outstanding work ethic. Much improved handle and good mid-range, three point shooter. Plays AAU with DTX Basketball. 3.8 gpa

 

Alex Prezioso (2024) 5’10, 165 lb combo guard – High basketball IQ and has the ability to create shots for his teammates and himself. Has good range that extends beyond the three point line. Good handle that allows him to get past good defenders and make the right play. Plays AAU with Team RC23. 4.1 gpa

 

Ryan Stratton (2024) 5’10 point guard -Transfer from Old Saybrook . He is the ultimate floor general that knows how to get his teammates the ball in right spots. He controls the pace of the game and can shoot the ball at a high percentage. He is effective at getting his pull up off and his floater is very consistent. Can pressures the ball at a high level. 4.2 gpa

 

Nate McCleery (2025) 6’2 guard – A lefty, who will shoot and make some deep threes. Improved handle with a good basketball IQ. Has put on weight and strength. 4.0 gpa


Ben Miller (2025) 5’11 guard- Transfer from Trumbull. Miller is an exceptional shooter from anywhere on the court. He is able to make plays off the bounce for his teammates. Excellent in transition. Gritty defender. 3.3 gpa
