Gauchos Roundball Classic Standouts 9/22/22

On Thursday, September 22, RecruitTheBronx.com made it back to the Gaucho Gymnasium in The Bronx for the Gauchos Roundball Classic, as the tournament has gone on to its second week. On this date, we got to see the St. Raymond playing against Bayard Rustin Educational Campus and Archbishop Stepinac against Archbishop Molloy. Here are the standouts from the two games:

 

Tai Turnage 5-10, Point Guard, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has a penchant for being a leader on the court. Has excellent court vision when he is on the perimeter, as he looks to figure out when to take the right shot or when to kick out a pass at the right time. Has the ability to get his shot off from long range & can drive to the basket with ease.

 

Brandon Stores, Jr. 6-4, Small Forward, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2025 - A forward that has the ability to play inside and outside and is a player that has plenty of strength. Has a penchant for driving into the lane and has the ability to absorb contact when going up for the basket. Is able to make his presence felt when he’s on the floor.

 

Jireej Cole 6-6, Forward, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has great lateral movement and is a solid player at his position. A player that is a physical specimen that can outwork and outmaneuver his opponent at all times. Is able to put the ball on the floor and use his quick first step to get to the basket.

 

Elijah Cherry 6-4, Shooting Guard, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that has plenty of energy & explosive ability when on the floor. Is able to score in many ways and is able to make an impact for his team when on the floor. Despite being an athletic player that likes to get to the rim, he can also use his jumper to his advantage.

 

Danny Carbuccia 6-0, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt with his scoring ability. Has an excellent feel for the game and has great court vision when he has the ball in his hands. Has a penchant for distributing the ball to his teammates in the right places on the court. Has the ability to hit jumpers from three-point range.

 

Benjamin Lyttle 6-5, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that is very strong and imposing, even though he is undersized. Is able to put the ball and dribble downcourt. Has plenty of athletic tendencies when on the court on both ends, especially when grabbing rebounds or going up for a dunk.

 

Braylan Ritvo 6-7, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2024 A forward that is able to move around smoothly when in transition. Is able to space the floor and get open to hit jumpers from three-point range. Has a nice, fluid motion that aids in him being effective in him making his shots from deep. Is also able to hold his own in the low post.

 

Josh Powell 6-2, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 2026 A guard that is very strong and is good for holding his own when driving to the basket. Is able to make strong drives to the hole and is able to absorb contact when going up to the basket. Is a player that has plenty of athletic ability. Has a nice shooting touch from three-point range.

 

Jayden James 6-3, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 2023 A guard that has the ability to be a leader for his team. Likes to drive to the basket and has a penchant for making plenty of acrobatic, athletic plays. Is a solid defender, as he will even block shots of the opposition & is a very active player on both ends of the court.

 

Sincere Folk 5-9, Point Guard, Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 2026 A guard that has plenty of quickness in his game and has the ability to make his team go when on the floor. Is a great distributor to his teammates as he sets them up for baskets when the moment presents itself at all times. Has the ability to shoot from the perimeter & has an efficient jumper.

 

Kuba Cwalina 6-3, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to play big if necessary and has a lot of toughness when on the court. Is able to grab rebounds and get downcourt in transition. Is a dangerous shooter from three-point range and is able to find a way to get open when not heavily guarded.

 

Jahmire Brewer 6-8, Forward, Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 2024 - A forward that is long and agile when on the court and is a solid piece to his team. Is a player that is very athletic and likes to play above the rim. Has a penchant for using his strength to hold his own in the low post and is known for getting rebounds.
