Samuel Gompers Career and Technical Education High School was a public vocational school for grades 9–12 located in East Morrisania, Bronx. It was founded in 1930 and named for American Federation of Labor founder Samuel Gompers. The campus building includes multiple schools. The boys varsity basketball team competes in the Bronx/Manhattan AA conference. The team is coached by Ned Jackson. Below are the profiles of his 2022-23 players.


Daouda Ouattara (2023) 5’7 point guard -  Above average ball handling skills. High Basketball IQ. Quickness and floor vision are his strengths.

Nathaniel Cardona (2023) 6’2 forward - Cardona’s second-year of experience and offseason work with Team Select, New Heights NYC, and Castle NYC will enable him to anchor the team’s defense.


Pather Jalloh (2024) 5’11 shooting guard - Jalloh is moved up from J.V.in the off season and is making an enormous contributions.

 
Gavin Murray Jr (2024) 5’11 combo guard - Murray has quickness and an aggressive mentality both on offense and defense. Has shown promise and growth since joining the team in the offseason.


Prince Kamate (2023) 6’4 guard/forward- Kamate is a second year player who received Athlete of the Year at last year’s team dinner. He can do it all. Capable of a triple double every game. Worked on his game in the offseason with the Riverside Hawks. Offers are on the table.


Noel Alcala (2025) 6’4 forward - Alcala is a second year player, a rebounder who has emerged as a scorer in the paint during the offseason. Strong body. Not your average sophomore.


Ovie Ojevwe (2024) 6’4 forward - Ojevwe moved up to varsity in the offseason. Great athlete and rim protector. He will be one of the top rebounders in the conference.
 

Ochuko Ukrakpo (2023) 6’0 combo guard - Ukrakpo was named the team MVP last year because of his tenaciousness on defense. A Swiss Army knife. Great finisher at the rim. 3.2 gpa


Hassan Kamara (2024) 5’9 shooting guard - Kamara moved up to varsity in the offseason. Great athlete. Specializes in defense and can knock down the 3pt shot from distance.

 
Sekou Kouyate (2024) 6’4 forward - Kouyate has a long wingspan. He just joined the team after offseason ended but is highly intelligent and coachable. Shows tremendous promise.
