Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School (W.H.E.E.L.S.) is a public school in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York City, serving grades PreK -12. Their boys varsity basketball team competes in the Bronx/Manhattan AA conference. W.H.E.E.L.S. is looking forward to another exciting season. Head coach Josh Krinsky has them looking to continue the decade-long run atop the Manhattan PSAL. The 2022-23 Wolves have some solid returning players as well as some impact newcomers.

Kaelen Destin (2025) 6’0 guard - Though only a tenth grader, this lead guard may very well lead WHEELS in scoring. Possessing a tremendous handle, good size, moves and shooting ability, Destin is poised for a breakout season. This electric scorer and floor general can score at all 3 levels as well as distribute.

Diogo Perez (2023) 5’11 guard - A returning starter, the super athletic guard excels at getting to the rim, applying pressure defensively, and has good range on his 3 point shot.

Jayson Liz (2024) 6’3 small forward - A returning starter, the athletic lefty forward excels at attacking the basket and on the offensive glass. He is in line to post numerous double-doubles this season.

Kerry Mabou (2023) 6’6 center - A returning starter, the Wolves’ center anchors the defense and defensive backboard. As a junior he averaged over 10 rebounds a game, and that should just go up. He also is clearly one of the top shot blockers in Manhattan.

Adrian Ventura (2023) 6’2 guard - A transfer, Ventura provides a bit of everything for WHEELS. He can handle the ball, shoot from the perimeter, rebound, and be a secondary creator.
