2022 DITR Sports Winter Showcase Standouts

On December 10, We made it to the Apex on the campus of Lehman College in The Bronx, for the first annual Diamond in the Rough Winter Showcase. This event featured three games: Boys & Girls High School vs. Greenwich Country Day School (CT), Cardinal O’Hara (PA) vs. Eagle Academy I and South Kent School (CT) vs. Our Saviour Lutheran High School. Here are the standouts from the aforementioned three games:


Jon Espinal 6-5, Forward, Boys & Girls High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that is a good asset to his teammates in the front court. Has long arms that he can use to corral rebounds and is able to use his body to absorb contact in the post on either hand. Has a nice shooting touch, as he is able to make floaters and hook shots.


Scotty Lee 6-4, Shooting Guard, Boys & Girls High School, Class of 2024 - A guard who is a leader for his team, as he is able to help his team settle down when they fall apart & reset everything on offense. Has a penchant for driving to the basket & doesn’t hesitate to take shots that he likes. Is a player that is great at distributing the ball to his teammates, setting them up for scoring opportunities.


Calder Truesdale 6-0, Point Guard, Greenwich Country Day School, Class of 2024 - A guard that has plenty of speed and likes to run in transition. Is a great defensive player that is able to obtain steals and get to the other end of the court with ease. Is a player that likes to get to the basket and is fearless when going to the basket.


Taj Walters 6-5,  Small Forward, Greenwich Country Day School, Class of 2025 - A forward that is very active on both ends of the court, as he is able to play multiple positions on the floor. Has great sense of court awareness when on the offensive end and is able to block shots on the defensive end. On the offensive end, he is able to attack the basket & can also dish out the ball to the opposition.


Jaden Zimmerman 6-5, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy I, Class of 2024 - A guard that has the ability to make plays on both ends of the court. Is a player that is very crafty and will find multiple ways to the basket & has a nice shooting touch. Has a penchant for showing explosiveness when driving to the rim for his emphatic dunks.


Moussa Camara 6-7, Forward, Eagle Academy I, Class of 2023 - A forward that has a strong inside presence in the low post. A player that uses his long wingspan and imposing frame to hold his own in the paint area. Is able to muscle his way into the basket for two and is a great defensive presence, as he is able to block shots in the low post and establish his position for rebounds.


Pearse McGuinn, 6-8, Forward, Cardinal O’Hara High School, Class of 2024 - A forward that is strong and agile and is able to make great plays on both ends of the court. Is able to battle it out for rebounds with the opposition. Is a force in the low post area by getting rebounds and by putting the ball on the floor and getting to the basket easily.


Aasim Burton, 6-3, Point Guard, Cardinal O’Hara High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that likes to run in transition and does not hesitate to take a shot that he likes. Has plenty of explosiveness in his game, as he is able to speed to the basket and lay it up with ease. Has a nice shooting touch and is able to hit shots from the perimeter.


Izaiah Pasha, 6-5, Shooting Guard, Cardinal O’Hara High School, Class of 2023 - A high-energy guard that is very crafty and is able to create for himself on the offensive end. Has a penchant for driving to the basket and has plenty of athleticism in his game. Has a nice shooting touch from three-point range and will take on any defenders coming his way.


Jameel Morris 6-1, Point Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has plenty of energy when on the floor. Is a player that makes sure that his teammates are able to flourish on the court, as he puts them in positions where they are able to score. Also is a player that can make great plays when going to the basket.


Seydou Traore 6-6, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2023 - A forward with plenty of versatility in his game. Has a fluid shot, but also has a very solid low-post game, as he is able to use his physical presence in the paint to obtain rebounds or box out. Is able to put the ball on the floor and is able to absorb contact when going up to score.


Isaiah Watts, 6-3, Point Guard, South Kent School, Class of 2023 - A guard that is crafty and is a very active player on both ends of the floor. Has a good eye on the defensive end, as he is prone to obtaining steals on the defensive end and turning it into an offensive possession. Is a player that can get past his defender and can use his athleticism to score. Is a player that has great court awareness and is able to put his teammates in position to score.


Elmarko Jackson, 6-4, Shooting Guard, South Kent School, Class of 2023 (University of Kansas commit) - A guard that has the ability to make plays on both ends of the court. Is able to use a quick first step to get to the basket and is a great finisher at the basket. Has plenty of explosiveness in his game and likes to get to the rim, even when the lane is open.


Jason Schofield 6-9, Forward, South Kent School, Class of 2024 - A forward that is strong and agile and is able to do plenty on the court. Is able to put the ball on the floor and is able to move around on the court, when he is on & off the ball. Has a nice shooting touch on the perimeter and has the ability to obtain rebounds when in the low post.
