2022 Eaglefest Standouts

On Sunday afternoon, December 18, we stopped in on the Eagle Academy for Young Men in the Bronx for the annual Eagle Fest event. Eagle Bronx squad took on their favorite rival Eagle Academy for Young Men II, most commonly known as Eagle Brooklyn. Last season, both teams won their respective borough championships (The Bronx and Brooklyn). This season, both teams are strong as ever, but this past weekend, it would be Eagle Bronx that would emerge victorious, winning by the score of 77-60.
Here are the standouts of the game:
Jaden Zimmerman 6-5, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy Bronx, Class of 2024 - A guard that has a quick first step and likes to run in transition. Is a very explosive player that will get to the basket with ease and likes to play above the rim when he is given an open lane. Has a penchant for making the right plays at the right moments, including facilitating the ball to his teammates.
Jaryn Bull 6-3, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy Bronx, Class of 2023 - A guard that has a penchant for using his strength when going to the basket and making his presence felt with his toughness. Is able to absorb contact when he goes up strong and is able to attack the boards when it comes to him getting rebounds. Provides plenty of energy when on the court.
Moussa Camara 6-7, Forward, Eagle Academy Bronx, Class of 2023 - A forward that is a formidable presence in the low post when on the floor. Has the ability to block shots and also can get rebounds on both ends of the court. Has a penchant for making strong drives to the basket and can even throw down dunks or post up against the opposition and can hit hook shots.
D’Andre Gibbs 6-0, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy Bronx, Class of 2024 - A guard that has the ability to change the game for his team when he has the ball in his hands. Is a natural-born scorer that can slice and dice to the basket and get past his defender, due to his craftiness. Has a penchant for using his quickness to get to the other end of the court.
Jonathan Jones 6-2, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy Bronx, Class of 2023 - A guard that is known for his nice shooting touch. Can be a dangerous threat to the opposition with his shooting, especially when not heavily guarded around the perimeter. Is a player that plays hard and will crash the boards when there is a crucial moment that presents itself.
Khalil Robinson 5-9, Point Guard, Eagle Academy Bronx, Class of 2023 - A guard that is a distributor and can slow down or speed up the tempo of the team. Is very quick and deceptive on both ends of the court, especially on defense, where he is prone to getting steals and racing to the other end of the court. Is fearless of the opposition and is willing to take on anyone that gets in his way.
Eric Acker 6-1, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy Brooklyn, Class of 2023 - A guard that likes to run in transition and can uses his speed to get down court with ease. Has a penchant for beating his man off the dribble and is very crafty on the offensive end. Has a nice shooting touch and is very fearless when it comes to getting to the hole.
Treshawn Sheppard 6-6, Forward, Eagle Academy Brooklyn, Class of 2023 - A forward that can make his presence felt in the low post. Is fearless on both ends of the court when it comes to getting rebounds and staying active. Will score in different ways, whether it’s getting outside of the lane and hitting a shot or driving to the lane.
Eddie Munyak 6-0, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy Brooklyn, Class of 2024 - A guard that has a penchant for moving around off the ball and freeing himself up to get the right shot. Has a nice shooting touch and is able to get his shot off efficiently. Is also a good distributor to his teammates, as he sets them up with opportunities to score.
Emarquis Jones 6-6, Forward, Eagle Academy Brooklyn, Class of 2023 - A forward that has a penchant to step out on the wing and put the ball out on the floor and show plenty of versatility. Has the ability to use his length to obtain rebounds and has the ability to make explosive plays, like going up to the basket and even throwing down the dunks. When going to the basket, he is fearless.
Ajani Fleming 6-1, Point Guard, Eagle Academy Brooklyn, Class of 2024 - A guard that likes to play on the perimeter and has great court vision at his position. Knows when to drive to the basket and also when to kick it out to his teammates. Has a nice shooting touch, which he can use to hit a shot from three-point range.
