2023 Gotham Hoops Showcase Top Performers

On January 29, we got ourselves to Adlai Stevenson High School Campus in The Bronx for the Gotham Hoops Showcase. The event featured plenty of the best teams in the Tri-state area. We were able to catch the final two games for the event between Wings Academy and Brooklyn Collegiate, two teams in the PSAL and the prep school game between Bridgeport Prep (CT) and Rocktop Academy (PA). Here are the standouts from the game:


Tyler Edore 6-7, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2024 - A forward that has plenty of great footwork and is very skilled when on the court. Is able to drive past the offensive end and can make great plays when going to the basket. Is able to obtain a rebound and also block shots. Has the ability to dominate on the offensive end and can play above the rim.


Mikey Bruno 6-3, Point Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to make plays when on the court. Is a player that can stay with his man on the defensive end and can force his man to give up the ball. Has the ability to take good shots when on the floor and facilitate to his teammates.


Flavio Jean 6-0, Point Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that is quick and has the ability to make his presence felt in the backcourt. Has the ability get downcourt on the fast break and kick it out to his teammates to put them in position score. Has a nice shooting touch and will shoot from three-point range.


Jayden Johnson 6-0, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt in the backcourt. Is a player that has the ability to drive to the basket. Has a great shot selection, as he is able to spot up and get his shot off on the perimeter. Is able to drive to the basket with ease.


Jesse Segura 6-2, Forward, Wings Academy, Class of 2023 - A forward that is undersized but is tough as nails, as he is able to absorb contact when in the post area. Is able to put the ball on the floor and can drive to the basket. Is able to get step out on the perimeter and can get his shot off efficiently.


Bryce Simmons 6-1, Shooting Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2023 - A guard that is poised on the court and possesses plenty of toughness when on the court. Is able to go up strong to the basket and is able to finish. Has a penchant for pulling up from the perimeter and getting his shot off.


Juell Harris 6-6, Forward, Wings Academy, Class of 2023 - A forward that has the ability to use his size and his strong frame to hold his own in the low-post area. Is able to box out and use his toughness to outwork and outmuscle others in order to obtain rebounds. Is able to power his way to the basket and finish strong, and as a result, is able to get to the free throw line.


Messiah Rodriguez 6-1, Point Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2023 - A guard that is shifty and is able to make things happen on the floor. Is fearless when driving to the basket and can attack when driving into transition. Likes to distribute the ball and will make sure that his teammates have a chance to score. Is a great finisher at the basket when driving to the hole.


Mathok Majok 7-3, Center, Bridgeport Preparatory School, Class of 2023 - A center that is able to dominate in the post area due to his large frame and his ability to be versatile. Has great footwork and is able to move around the paint area efficiently. When on the offensive end, he is able to finish efficiently at the rim.


Josue Kangudi 6-5, Forward, Bridgeport Preparatory School, Class of 2025 - A forward is explosive and can outwork and outmuscle players on the low post. Is very athletic and is able to make his presence felt when going to the rim and can also obtain rebounds. Has a great sense of awareness on both ends of the court.


Isaac Munkadi 6-10, Forward, Bridgeport Preparatory School, Class of 2024 - A forward that has plenty of strength on the floor and has the ability to make his presence felt on both ends of the court. Is able to use his size as an asset, as he is able to block shots and can also obtain rebounds. Is able to outmuscle the opposition and finish at the rim when he goes up to score.


Ejay Greer, 6-7, Shooting Guard, Rocktop Academy (PA), Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to score in multiple ways on the court. Has a penchant for driving to the basket and is able to finish in transition. Is able to bring the ball up the court and is able to create for himself of the dribble. Has great length and his able to post up the opposition with his size. Has the ability to shoot from long range.
