2023 Metro Classic Top Performers

During the February 11th weekend , we paid a visit to Harwood Arena on the campus of Kean University in Union, New Jersey for the 10th annual Metro Classic. This is a showcase that hosts some of the best teams in the tri-state area, including Long Island’s own Long Island Lutheran and many of New Jersey’s finest squads. They were multiple high talent players who are worth watching. Here are some of the standouts from the games:
Matt Hodge, 6-8, Forward, St. Rose High School (NJ), Class of 2024 - A forward that is strong & agile and has great footwork when on the floor. Has excellent footwork and is able to get to the basket with ease. Is also a great defender that is able to make his presence felt by stopping the opposition.
Jayden Hodge, 6-5, Shooting Guard, St. Rose High School (NJ), Class of 2026 - A guard that can make his presence felt with his shooting ability when he’s on the floor. Has a quick first step and is able to find ways to get open. Has the ability to drive to the basket with ease and will find ways to draw a foul.
Alex Massung, 6-2, Point Guard, Hudson Catholic High School (NJ), Class of 2024 - A guard that can put the ball on the floor and create for himself off the dribble and has the ability to drive to the basket with ease. Is very crafty and has a penchant for taking over an offense. Has the ability to shoot from long range and has a penchant for finding his teammates in the right places at the right times so that they could get opportunities to score.
Chazz Dubois, 6-5, Forward, Hudson Catholic High School (NJ), Class of 2025 - A forward that has excellent footwork and has plenty of size to go along with it. Is able to put the ball on the floor and can make smooth moves to the basket all times. Has a nice jumper and a fluid motion. Has the ability to drive to the basket and can also obtain rebounds.
Ebrahim Kaba, 6-7, Forward, Gill St. Bernard School (NJ), Class of 2024 - A forward that can make plays when on the floor. Has the ability to put the ball on the floor and can drive to the hole. Is very skilled and can be a player that can make things happen when on the court. Has a penchant for going to the boards and obtaining rebounds.
Dorsett Mulcahy, 6-4, Point Guard, Gill St. Bernard School (NJ), Class of 2026 - A guard that has the ability to jumpstart a team’s offense and can drive to the basket with ease. Has a penchant for distributing the ball to his teammates so that they can get opportunities to score. Has a nice shooting touch as he can hit shots from the perimeter.
A.J. Altobelli, 5-10, Point Guard, Union Catholic High School (NJ), Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to create an offense and can find opportunities for his teammates to score. Has a nice jumper and is always dangerous when left open. Has great court vision and will make sure that his teammates get the ball at the right time so that they can score.
Chimeziri Okeoma, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Union Catholic High School (NJ), Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to take on the opposition on the offensive end. Has a good eye on defense, as he is able to swipe the ball with ease and then get to the other end of the court with quickness. Is able to drive to the basket and can finish strong. Has the ability to dish it out to his teammates at all times.
Yaw Ansong, 6-11, Forward, Union Catholic High School (NJ), Class of 2025 -A forward that is a force in the low post area and can be a huge asset to his teammates. Is able to dominate in the paint area, as he is able to muscle his way to the rim and also has a nice hook shot. Is able to alter the shots of the opposition when on the defensive end and is always ready to obtain a rebound.
Darius Adams 6-3, Shooting Guard, Manasquan High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to make great plays on the floor. Will take plenty of shots and can drive to the basket when he has the opportunity. Is able to make smooth moves to the basket and can finish at the hole. Has the ability to make a floater or shoot from the perimeter.
Ryan Frauenheim, 5-9, Point Guard, Manasquan High School (NJ), Class of 2024 - A guard that is quick on the floor and has great court awareness when on the floor. Is able to handle the ball and can find teammates when on the break. Has a penchant for making jumpers from long range and can drive to the basket with ease.
Amdy N’Diaye 6-10, Forward, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has a penchant for making plays on both ends of the court. Is a player that can attack the glass and dominate on the defensive end. Is able to step out of the paint and can make shots from the top of the key and is a force in the paint area, as he is able to play above the rim.
Jayden Reid 5-11, Point Guard, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that is very quick and deceptive with the ball and can make his presence felt on both ends of the court. Is able to obtain steals and get downcourt with quickness. Is very fearless when going to the basket, as he is a great finisher. Has great court awareness, as he is able to distribute the ball and find his teammates when they’re open so that they can have opportunities to score.
VJ Edgecombe 6-4, Shooting Guard, Long Island Lutheran High School, Class of 2024 - Edgecomb is a HM guard prospect whose recruitment has really ticked up lately, including an offer from Villanova. He has plenty of athletic ability and can be a force on both ends of the court. Has great hands as he is able to block shots and obtain rebounds. Has a nice fluid motion on his jumper and is able to shoot from long range. Has a penchant for playing above the rim, as he likes to drive to the basket and throw down insane dunks.
