2023 PSAL A Semifinals Top Performers

On Monday night, March 13, RecruitTheBronx got ourselves to the Fitzgerald Gymnasium on the campus of Queens College in the Flushing section of Queens for the PSAL A division semifinals. There were two games that featured some tough teams that have stood out all season long. In the first game, DeWitt Clinton played Transit Tech, and it was a tough game throughout, with Transit Tech winning and moving on to the championship. In the other semifinal game, last year’s champions, Murry Bergtraum played the talented Epic South. In this matchup, it would be the underdog Epic South that would walk away the victors. The finals will be on Sunday, March 19th at 1 PM on the campus of Long Island University in Brooklyn. Here are the standouts from both of the semifinals:


Temitope Alao 6-1, Shooting Guard, Transit Tech High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that is always on alert mode on the floor. Is a great on-the-ball defender who will look to get steals and also will crash the boards for rebounds. Is able to get to the basket with ease with a quick first step. Is able to pull up around the perimeter.


Ashton Reynolds 6-3, Forward, Transit Tech High School, Class of 2024 - A forward with a long wingspan that is able to use his versatility every time he’s on the court. Loves to run-on the fast break and is a very athletic player, as he loves to play above the rim. Will go up for rebounds and has the ability to block shots.


Garelle Solomon 5-11, Point Guard, Transit Tech High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to take big shots, as he trusts his instincts when it comes to shooting. When driving to the basket, he is a great finisher, as he also looks to take contact when going up for two. Has a nice shooting touch from long range.


Noah Hargrow 6-1, Shooting Guard, DeWitt Clinton High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that shoots at a high-volume and knows how to create for himself off the dribble. Is able to move around off the ball and will find ways to get open so that he can shoot. Is able to drive to the basket and is fearless when it comes to driving to the basket.


Jomauri Peña, 5-8, Point Guard, DeWitt Clinton High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has plenty of energy on the court and has excellent court vision. Has the ability to make good plays when he has the ball in his hands. Has the ability to use his speed and will glide to the basket with ease for two. Has the ability to shoot from long range.


Joel Beard 6-4, Forward, Epic South High School, Class of 2025 - A forward that is able to outwork his opponents when in the low post, when it comes to blocking shots and obtaining rebounds. Is able to use his physicality in the paint area to muscle his way to the basket. Has the ability to pass the ball to his teammates so that they can score.


Satvander Singh, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Epic South High School, Class of 2023 - A guard that has the ability to make plays on the court. Is able to score at a high-volume, as he will take advantage, as he can drive to the basket easily when not guarded. Has a nice shooting touch from long range, as he is able to let it fly easily.


Tayshaun Batson, 6-6, Forward, Epic South High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has the ability to make his presence felt in the low post. Is a force that has great footwork and is very strong in the paint. Is able to muscle his way around in the and can score easily and can also play above the rim. Has the ability to obtain rebounds and block shots.

 

Shandres Serrata 6-7, Forward, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has the ability to have a nice touch in the low post area. Is able to obtain rebounds and is able to find a way to get open and receive passes so that he could score. Is able to set screens for his teammates to capitalize on offensive possessions.

 

Kalifa Outtara 6-6, Forward, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2023 - A forward that has the ability to use his presence felt on both ends of the court. Has the ability to put the ball on the court. Is able to drive down the lane and finish in transition when going to the basket. Is also able to shoot from the perimeter and is a solid rebounder in the low post.


Andrew Parrish 5-9, Point Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that is a solid floor general. Is a great distributor that can give his teammates the ball, which leads to them to offensive positions. Is also a player that can also shoot from long range and can also get to the basket.
