2023 Lightning Amateur Basketball Club16u College Prospects
Lightning Amateur Basketball Club is running high level 15u-17u grassroots teams starting this spring. The program is run by Naasir Williams.
The 16u team will be competing on the UA Rise Circuit. Below are the college prospects on their roster:
Vere Anthony (2025) 6’0 point guard, St Francis Prep - Anthony does it all. Big time floor general that is arguably the best defender in the country. If coaches want a leader and a winner, this is their guy.
Taj Bryant (2025) 6’2 guard, Eagle Academy-Brooklyn - Bryant has taken his game to another level. The PSAL City Champion is a big time 3-level scorer and one of the best rebounding guards in the country. High majors have been calling.
Tajae Jones (2025) 6’8 wing, Notre Dame West Haven (CT) - Jones is a big time player with HM potential. He is a matchup nightmare at either forward spot. He averaged 25 pts 14 rebs in the team’s opening weekend at The Hoop Group LI Warmup.
LJ Saunders (2025) 6’2 guard, Suffield Academy (CT) - Saunders is a crafty playmaker with an elite pull up jumper and unlimited range.
Markus Maxwell-Grimes (2025) 6’2 guard, Monsignor McClancy High - Maxwell-Grimes is projected by scouts to be a D1 guard. He plays either guard spot, bringing good size. He wrecks havoc in getting downhill in transition. He shoot the 3 well, and makes good decisions with the ball in his hand.
Avery Headley (2025) 6’7 forward, Brooklyn Collegiate - Headley is an elite athlete with a high IQ and a high ceiling. He’s currently playing as a small forward, but is developing his guard skills for the next level.
Basti Williams (2025) 6’3 guard, Wilbraham & Monson Academy (MA) - Williams is a sniper, both from the perimeter and the midrange. He knows his spots and makes the right reads. He is a high energy guy who loves to win and support his teammates.
Moustapha Sarr (2024) 6’3 shooting guard, Democracy Prep Charter High
