2023 NY Basketball Academy Player Profiles

The New York Basketball Academy program is directed by Kennedy Catholic Head Varsity Coach James Loughran. Loughran was recently named a College Placement All Star for his work on behalf of getting his players placed onto college teams.

 

The 2023 17u ZGXL team is coached by James Loughran and the roster is as follows:


Prince Boone (2024) 6’0 guard, Poughkeepsie High - Boone is strong on defense, as a high energy and high effort ball defender. Offensively, he does what his team needs him to do, both on the ball or off of it. Great teammate.


Daniel Dedvukaj (2024) 6’4 wing, Mahopac High - A tough minded player, which really shows up in his ability to rebound and defend. He makes his team better by being the loudest and most vocal player on the court.


Brandon Montero (2024) 6’1 swing, Yorktown High -
Montero plays bigger than his height. It s shows up mostly in his ability to rebound and defend against taller players. He is very impactful in snatching a defensive rebound and then starting a fast break with his dribble. He has been putting in the reps on his jump shot, and the progress is showing.


Justin Price (2024) 6’2 point guard, Yorktown High - Price averaged 11PPG, 4.8 APG and 5.7 RBG. This young man was another key piece in leading a tremendous 17-6 Yorktown squad to the Section 1 Class A Semi-Finals. A true Point Guard, a 3 level scorer and a 2 level player with a tremendous skill set on both ends of the floor. Coachable, High IQ and is a dynamic floor general that can get himself to any spot on floor. Defends at a high level, guarding some of the best players on opposing team. High ability to knock down mid range shots, and step out and hit 3’s.


Nicky Tasso (2024) 6’7 forward, Horace Greeley High - Tasso is an excellent rim protector, using both great timing an effort to make that happen. He is working successfully in building his offensive impact. He has a good mid-range shot and can put the ball on the floor from many spots.


Thomas Costello (2024) 6’0 guard, Yorktown High - A team defense
‘glue guy” by being very active and causing chaos for the opponents offensive plan. He is hitting his 3 pointers and putting the ball on the floor, when those get closed out. A battler.


Billy Feeks (2024) 5’11 guard, Yorktown High - Coming off a tremendous season averaging 15ppg, 4RPG and 3.5 APG. Feeks was a valuable piece to helping lead a 17-6 Yorktown team to the Section Semi-finals. This kid has a ton of upside and is an already next level player. Coachable, High IQ, and a 3 level scorer that has the ‘get downhill’ mindset Pushes tempo on teams. He defends and is a winner.


Kevin New (2024) 6’1 guard, Fox Lane High - New is a long, lengthy guard who can shoot it with the best of them. He is a good defender and a kid that can play multiple positions. He’s above average shooting ability allows him to stretch the floor for any team that he is on. New can play the 1 or the 2 well.


Liam Scanlon (2024) 6’4 wing, Mahopac High - This lefty is a scorer from the mid post and can step out and hit the occasional three. Very effective in creating space to maximize his ability to get the rebound. He runs the floor and directs traffic on defense.


Andrew Violante (2024) 6’0 guard, Somers High - Violante’s impact on the game centers around his toughness, which shows up in his ability to defend and securing rebounds. It also helps him get downhill and through the tight gaps on offense.

 

 

The 2023 17u Select team is coached by Sean Florenz and the roster is as follows:


Jensy Adames (2025) 5’9 point guard Arlington High - Adams is impressive off-of-the-dribble into his jump shot. He excels at the mid-range, but can also drop them them in from beyond the arc. He pushes the break well, with both skill and good decision making.


Ihab Elafraoui (2024) Arlington High


Nasir Snell (2024) Spackenhill High


Jack Salisbury (2024) Carmel High


Devon Webb (2025) 6’2 small forward Beacon High - Webb’s length enables him to guard bigger opponents, which creates a match-up issue on the other end. He can get past his man with strong downhill attacks and rim finishes. He is very active without the ball causing confusion in the opponent’s team defense. His continued improvement on his long ball will determine his impact at the next level.

Benny Jones (2024) John Jay High


Savion Nesbitt (2025) Poughkeepsie High -  Nesbitt is the high energy defender, he is disruptive both on-the-ball full court or in half court schemes. He brings a quick first step and full court speed to the offensive game.


Kiernan Thompkins (2024) Roy C Ketcham High

Ryan Duffy (2025) forward Yorktown High - Duffy is impressive as a rim protector. He blocks and alter shots, as well as taking timely charges. He also has the ability to score the basketball.


Caden Green (2025) Dover High


Owen Iannucci (2025) Millbrook High - Iannucci is very coachable, with great “buy-in” as to whatever assignment that he is given. He defends. He runs the floor. He knocks down threes, with a complementary drive-by game.

Ari Dreilinger (2025) 6’0 guard Byram Hills High - Dreilinger is developing the rep of being a lock-down defender on the opponent’s best scoring guard. Coach Loughran believes Dreilinger’s effort level and desire to be as good as he can be will make him into a next level player.


Kaden Gonzalez (2025) 6’2 guard Yorktown High -  Gonzalez has taken tremendous strides this year at Yorktown. This Sophomore guard averaged 10.1 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 3.5 APG, while playing key minutes and having a big role in helping lead Yorktown to the Class A Semi Finals. Coachable, Hard working, gym rat. Utilizes his dribbles in the half court extremely well, while controlling his pace of play. Continuing to excel in transition up the floor. Not afraid to take big shots in big moments. 3.2 gpa


Brian Hansen (2025) forward, Yorktown Heights High - Hansen scraps, fights and hustles. That makes for a great rebounder and loose ball magnet. Offensively, he has great footwork in the post. He hits the mid-range shot, which he is now extending the range of with heavy practice reps.


David Marasevic (2025) 6’2 guard, Yorktown Heights High - Marasevic has good length for his height. This helps him rebound well from the guard spot and then convert those into high speed transition attacks going the other way. He makes decisive moves to the basket, getting there quickly with the minimum number of steps.

Eli Daglio (2025) 6’2 guard, Fox Lane High - Daglio is an high IQ player that can play multiple positions. He shoots it very well from 3 and can defend with the best of them. Daglio sees the floor well and makes his teammates better.
