2023 Team Finesse Player Profiles

Team Finesse is the grass roots basketball program borne out of the Finesse Hoops Training program in Wallingford, CT. The program is headed by Austin Carretta. It’s players are primarily sourced from the New Haven/Hartford/Bridgeport area. They are high level talent players who train with Finesse Hoops at Finesse Fitness Gym. This program is dedicated to not only helping these young players improve their game but also giving them college/pro level strength and conditioning programming to help prepare them for the next level. The goal is to help these players get into the best college programs possible while preparing them for the work on the court, in the weight room, and the mindset needed at the next level.

 

The upper classmen in their program include the following:

 

Zach Skinner (2023) 6’2 point guard, Berlin High (CT) - Skinner is a good sized PG that takes pride in running the show. He plays with a bulldog mentality, uses his strength and IQ to make plays. He punishes players on the defensive end. Won Defensive Player of the Year in his high school conference and averaged 15 points a game last season. 3.0 gpa

 

Amare Brooks (2024) 6’2 guard, West Haven High (CT)- A crafty combo guard who has great playmaking ability. He has a great handle, the ability to see the floor and knock down shots.  He can score at a high clip or be a playmaking guard for others. Brooks has a big upside


Bobby Moore Jr (2025) 5’10 point guard, Platt High (CT) - Moore is an explosive point guard who plays with a high motor and has the ability to knock down shots and attack the basket. Moore can score at a high clip and is at his best when he’s attacking defenders on his way to the basket. 3.3 gpa


Chaance Moore (2025) 5’11 guard, Career Magnet High (CT) - Moore has next level quickness to take defenders off the dribble, knock down open shots and has a great mid range game. Moore averaged 12ppg 5ast and 4 steals per game last season. 3.5 gpa


Khalil Thompson (2025) 5’8 point guarxd, North Haven High (CT) - Thompson
playmaker who averaged 10ppg 5ast and 4rbs per game. He is no stranger to the work and continues to grow his game. Thompson has a tight handle, ability to see the floor, and can punish opponents from deep. 3.0 gpa


Eric Charles Johnson (2023) 5’11 guard, Eli Whitney Tech (CT) - Johnson is a strong athletic guard who can score at will. Selected as a CIAC All State player this past season. He averaged 19.6 points 7.2 assist and 2.2 steals per game. Johnson prefers to attend a prep school but is also open to going directly to college. 2.9 gpa


Akeem Jackson Jr (2024) 6’4 guard, We Believe Academy (CT) - Jackson is a lengthy guard who can dribble the ball and is a 3 level scorer. He is lethal in transition. Jackson has great shot blocking ability. His recruitment is expected to sky rocket. 2.9 gpa


Timaury Gay (2024) 6’4 wing, Notre Dame West Haven (CT) - Gay was a two-time All SCC and CIAC All State Player. Gay averaged 16ppg and shot 46% from behind the arc this past season. He can finish above the rim, and is a true 3 level scorer. He can defend as well. Gay Timaury holds four scholarship offers and looks to see his recruitment expand this coming season. 3.3 gpa


Nayshaun Edwards (2023) 6’1 guard, Bassick High (CT) - Edwards is a combo guard. He has the physicality and grit to slash to the basket, grab rebounds and just get it done. Edwards can defend, finish at the rim and knock down shots. 3.2 gpa


Josh Santiago (2023) 6’4 wing, Bridgeport Prep (CT) - Santiago can score the basketball crafty shot maker who can finish high on the rim. Josh can rebound the basketball and is great rim protector. Santiago averaged 14.5ppg against high level college prep competition last winter.


Jakari “Kari” Tertullian (2023) 6’3 guard, Notre Dame-West Haven PG (CT) - Tertulien has a terrific feel for the game and it shows in finding his teammates for open shots. He handles the ball very well and is capable of running the offense when needed. Sneaky athleticism will show he can get well over the rim and has a nice shooting touch. Defensively is where he shines adding more pressure as the game goes on. He has a knack for competing and doing whatever it takes to win.


Randy Alston Brown (2023) 5’8 guard, West Haven High (CT) - Alston Brown o uses quickness, strength and explosiveness to beat defenders off the dribble and attack the basket. He can score the ball well, including a 45 point game this season on his senior night. Alston Brown is a hard worker, gym rat and has a high motor and definition of heart-over-height. He has reclass options available and is looking for best opportunity going into this Spring/ Summer. 3.8 gpa
