2023 CT Takeover 17u Player Profiles

CT TakeOver is grass roots program for ages 7-17 years old. Since being Established in 2019, Takeover has provided year round training and high level competitive basketball. The program’s mindset is to help as many student athletes get to the next level as possible. It’s working, They already now have >10 alums playing in college. As the Program Director, Darren Gilbert was recently named a College Placement All Star for his work on behalf of getting his players placed onto college teams.


Coming off a strong year last year, which included winning the Hoop Group New England Jam Fest, this year might be the deepest CT TakeOver team has had yet. Their 17u player profiles are shown below.

 

Michael Coggins (2024) 6’3 wing, Suffield High – (recently offered by D2 Fairmont State University) Coggins is one of the most decorated high school players in Upstate Connecticut. Although he has only just finished up his junior year, he is already a 1k point scorer, a three time All-Conference selection and a two time CIAC All-State selection. This southpaw can score at all 3 levels. His high IQ always leads him to making the right play, and the best part about his game is that he plays HARD. He’s what every coach wants. Already has interests from 10+ prep and D3 schools.


Quentin Ford (2024) 6’2 guard, Manchester High - Ford is coming off a huge junior year campaign for the RedHawks. He was named All Conference, averaging 17 ppg. This kid continues to grow more and more everyday. He can light it up from deep. He has also making it into he weight room and that should enhance increased his ability to finish through contact..


Jayveon Robinson (2024) 6’3 guard, Manchester High (CT) - Robinson is Mr. Do-It-All. He can play 1-5, if needed to be. This past winter, he recorded the second triple double in his school’s history with 21p 13r and 11a. He is also in the Top 10 in the CIAC for steals per game. He is a lefty with a smooth game, and a pass-first mentality. As he becomes more aggressive on the offensive end, he will become a high level college prospect.


Marquis Ward (2024) 5’10 guard, Maloney High (CT) Ward is a three sport athlete. He is another junior that is coming off an All Conference year. He can play above the rim, and will defend the opponent’s best guard. Ward plays strong, can attack off the dribble, and pull-up into a confident shot. He is working to develop a more consistent outside shot.


Quadir Murphy (2024) 5’10 guard, Middletown High (CT)  A TOUGH player! This is Murphy’s is first year playing on the showcase circuit.


Gary Konopka (2024) 5’11 guard, We Believe Academy (CT) - Murphy and Konopka are listed back-to-back because they both play the game hard. Konopkas work ethic is unmatched, and he will make a college coach happy! 3.9 gpa


Early Kollie (2024) 6’4 wing, Prince Tech High (CT) - Kollie is just scratching the surface of his potential. He has a 6’8 wing span and can play above the rim. He makes his defenders work in the post. He uses his size and length to be a game-changer on the offensive glass. 


Mekhi Seth (2024) 5’11 guard, Maloney High (CT) - Shooters shoot, and Seth can light it up. His winter high scoring games, were for 17 and 21 points. He needs to work on his handle and get in the weight room this summer.


Keanu Gomez (2024) 5’10 point guard, Cromwell High (CT) - Gomez is coming off a state championship win as the starting point guard. Keanu another smaller guard that plays hard. He will be adjusting to the high level showcase tourney level of play, but is a steady-eddy guard that doesn’t make many mistakes.


Dom Galletti (2024) 5’9 point guard, East Haven High (CT) - Another guard that can light it up. Plays under control high IQ, picks his spots. 3.5 gpa


Alex Barber (2024) 6’6 wing, BFL Prep (WA) - Barber is active in transition, attacks the paint with purpose. Can create plays.
