2023 Playmaker U Select 17u Prospects

Playmaker U is a competitive co-ed AAU program based in Beacon, NY (Dutchess County). Their program is dedicated to preparing young athletes for the next level of competition and ultimately help them to continue to compete on the collegiate level as well as continue their education as scholar athletes.


Their Pumas Select 17u Team is coached by veteran Dwight Gillins, along with Quran Brickhouse. Their roster consists of the following college prospects:


Darien Gillins (2023) 6’2 guard, Beacon High (Stony Brook University commit) - Gillens is a playmaker and can take over a game, attacks with a purpose. Lock down defender and rebounder. Makes the right plays with a very low assist to turnover ratio. Excellent handle and quickness, shoots the three well, has a mid-range game and can finish through contact as well as play above the rim off the bounce.  Holds not only athletic, but full ride academic offers.


Elijah Abrahms (2024) 6’4 small forward, Kingston High - A walking double-double. Very quick athletic guard with explosive leaping ability. Can score in many ways and finish at the rim. Pushes the ball, plays with pace. Strong rebounder and tremendous shot blocker.


Ryan Esposito (2024) 6’5 small forward, New Milford High (CT) - Physical strong player and active rebounder.  Good post player that does a lot of the little things that do not show up on the stat sheet but impacts the game.


Jalen Lee (2024) 6’1 guard, Poughkeepsie High - Tough guard with a strong frame.  Lethal scorer gets in the paint and finishes through contact. His strength makes it hard to take him off the ball.  Player with a high upside.


Michael Malachi (2026) 5’10 point guard, Trinity Pawling school Malachi recently reclassed as he transfers in to Trinity-Pawling. At New Milford High (CT), he made All- Division as a freshman in the South-West Conference (CT). A playmaker and can stretch the defense with his 3pt shooting. Plays at his own pace. His head is always up to makes the right play during transition.


Olaf Gorski (2024) 6’11 forward, The Harvey School - Strong work ethic and rim protector with a tremendous upside.  Outstanding rebounder, plays with his back to the rim and developing a mid-range game. A one to watch.

Norawee Vongveeran (2023) 6’5 small forward, The Harvey School - Very Athletic forward, runs the floor well and gets baskets in transition. Has a quick first step and his strong frame makes him a challenge to defend on the wing. Can post up and has a good mid-range game. Strong rebounder and good defender.
