Tru Ballaz Top Players Notes 10/2/18

On a Tuesday night, Recruit the Bronx took a trip to Frederick Douglass Academy III in the Bronx to check out the action at Tru Ballaz in two games. Wadleigh went up against Byram Hills in the first game and Thurgood Marshall and Archbishop Stepinac faced off in the final game of the night. Here are the standouts from both games:


Andre By, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Wadleigh Secondary School, Class of 2021 - A guard that is good at getting to the hole. Has a good shooting stroke and is able to get his teammates passes at the right moment. Is really efficient on the fast-break.


Ben Leff, 6-8, Forward, Bryram Hills High School, 2019 - A player that makes good moves to the basket and has good size. Struggles with finishing baskets and is easily forced into turnovers.


Elijah Wynn, 6-0, Point Guard, Wadleigh Secondary High School, Class of 2019 - A guard that has a lot of strength, will muscle in for rebounds and will push the ball up the court. Is a great facilitator. Struggles with turnovers and shooting from long-range.


Willy Samsen, 6-5, Forward, Byram Hills High School, Class of 2019 - A player that is able to use his strength to muscle into the paint and draw fouls. Great at shooting from three-point range.


James Downs, 6-5, Forward, Wadleigh Secondary School, Class of 2020 - A forward that has good size and works hard in the low post. Has great physical tools that help him gain rebounds and can also step out and shoot from the top of the key.


Kevin Jenkins, 6-1, Point Guard, Thurgood Marshall Academy, Class of 2020 - Has some good size and go to the hole with ease. A player that is also a good facilitator on the court when it comes to passing the ball to teammates at the right time. Is also good at defense and sliding his feet.


Arthur Dukes, Jr., 5-7, Point Guard, Thurgood Marshall Academy, Class of 2019 - A guard that can shoot at a high-volume and gets himself to the free-throw line. Is very alert on defense and causes opposition to give up the ball for turnovers.


Adrian Griffin, Jr., 6-5, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, 2021 - A player with a strong build that can shoot from long range and has long hands that help with rebounding the ball and blocking shots.


Omar Nkonee, 6-5, Forward Thurgood Marshall Academy, Class of 2020 - An undersized forward that that has plenty of strength and is alert at getting rebounds and blocks shots.


Malcolm Chimezie, 6-7, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2021 - A player with nice size and a solid body who is good at getting rebounds and posting up smaller players. Great at absorbing contact and drawing fouls with precision.


Jaylen Denny, 5-6, Point Guard, Thurgood Marshall Academy, Class of 2019 - A player that has plenty of quickness and will play aggressive defense. Struggles with shot selection, but makes up for it with handling of team.


Justin Morety, 6-1, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2020 - A guard that has plenty of good point guard skills & is great at facilitating for his teammates. Is also speedy when it comes to defense and getting steals which translates into layups at the other end.
