2018 Brooklyn Collegiate Thanksgiving Invitational

On Saturday, Recruit the Bronx made its way to the Brownsville section of Brooklyn to check out Brooklyn Collegiate’s 4th annual Thanksgiving Invitational, where five PSAL teams and a charter school from four different boroughs did battle in three games. Competing in this event was Queens High School of Teaching (Queens), Inwood Academy (Manhattan), James Monroe Campus (Bronx), Brooklyn Law & Tech High School (Brooklyn), Francis Lewis High School (Queens) and Brooklyn Collegiate (Brooklyn), the host team. Here were the standouts:


Rashad Ramserran, 5-10, Shooting Guard, Queens High School of Teaching, Class of 2019 - Has a streaky jumper and knows how to pick his spots when he shoots. Is a good facilitator on the court. Struggles with control of the ball and gets forced into turnovers. Has the ability to grab rebounds.


Keian Montero, 5-9, Point Guard, Inwood Academy, Class of 2019 - A diminutive guard with plenty of quickness on the court. Has plenty of explosion on the court and is
able to get to the basket quickly.


Elijah Epperson, 6-1, Small Forward, Queens High School of Teaching, Class of 2019 - An undersized forward that has plenty of strength. Can absorb some physical contact and is able to get layups. Finds ways to get to the basket and also is a good rebounder.


Ryan Bishop, 5-11, Point Guard, Queens High School of Teaching, Class of 2020 - Great at going to the basket and shows plenty of explosion and quickness, along with a variety of moves to thecup. Struggles with shooting from long range and defense and is prone to turning the ball over.


Ransel Rodriguez, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Inwood Academy, Class of 2019 - A guard that makes good movements to the basket and knows how to attack the basket. Is able to run on the fast break and in transition.


Alberto Paulino, 6-4, Forward, James Monroe High School Campus, Class of 2020 - A big man that can move around and is a great passer. Knows where and when to move on the floor and can also shoot from long-range when left open on the perimeter. Is also a goodshot-blocker in the low post.


Calvin Jenkins, 6-1, Forward, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2020 - A player that has a lot of strengths and moves well on both ends of the court. Shows a lot of hustle, but struggles to finish at the basket.


Brandon Hendricks, 5-8, Point Guard, James Monroe High School Campus, Class of 2020 - Great at moving around on defense and can force the opposition into turning the ball over. Has great movement on offense as well. Finds plenty of ways to get to the basket.


Sage Borbon, 5-7, Point Guard, James Monroe High School Campus, Class of 2019 - A speedy guard with plenty of quickness and great court vision who had awareness of what is going on when the ball is in play. Has a good three-point shot. Has plenty of athleticism despite his small frame.


Joseph Peña, 6-5, Forward, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2019 - A strong rebounder who has great movement in the low post. Can step out and shoot from three-point range. Is a force on the boards and in the low post.


Jakai White, 5-11, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2021 - Is a player that can score in bunches. Struggles with decision making and turning the ball over. Has the ability to play pressure defense and neutralize the opposition.


Michael Lucas, 6-3, Forward, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2020 - A player who is strong, but does not score much, however, he makes up for it with good energy. Has the ability to get rebounds and block shots.


Daniel Rivera, 6-3, Shooting Guard, James Monroe High School Campus, Class of 2020 - A big guard that can post up smaller players and can play tremendous defense. Gets to the basket efficiently and is able to grab rebounds. Shoots at a high volume from long range.


Davonta Cook, 6-0, Point Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2019 - A deadly shooter from long range who can score from anywhere on the court. Has cat-like quickness and explosion when he goes up to the hole.


Anthony Desmae, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2019 - A player who gives good energy on the floor and helps his team with rebounding and other facets of the game.Has a good solid body that allows him to take charges and also absorb contact when going to the basket, which gives him the opportunity to draw fouls.


Majesty Johnson, 5-8, Point Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - A guard who is a distributor and can change speeds depending on the tempo of the game. Has great court vision and sees his where teammates are moving before he gives them the ball. Can also shoot from long range when left open.


Amahrie Simpkins, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - A player with a long wingspan who is solid in the post. Is good with his hands and looks to get steals when he sees the ball going to the opposition.


Davian Hall, 6-4, Forward, Francis Lewis High School, Class of 2020 - Very strong physically and is great at absorbing contact from the opposition. Great at tracking rebounds and runs the floor well. Finds ways to get to the free-throw line and is a good shooter from the charity stripe.

Jaylin Anderson, 6-4, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - A player with a long wingspan that has athletic traits. A great defender who uses his long hands to corral rebounds. Has plenty of toughness and uses it when he goes up to score.


Moises Cordero, 6-4, Forward, Francis Lewis High School, Class of 2019 - A forward who has plenty of strength and crashes the boards efficiently. He can also put the ball on the floor and play like a guard and also steps out to shoot from the perimeter. Makes aggressive drives to the basket.
