2018 Cancer Aneurysm Awareness Classic

On Saturday December 8th, RecruitTheBronx.com was on hand to watch the Cancer Aneurysm Awareness Classic at Benjamin Banneker HS in Brooklyn, NY. The event was ran by Benjamin Banneker Head Coach Willie Jackson. Here are our top prospects:


Emiliano Tappin 2019 6’1 wing, August Martin HS - Attacks the basket strong and can finish thru contact on the drive. Good leaping ability. Good midrange jumper. Strong body. Needs to be more aggressive on the boards. Needs to improve his 3pt shooting.


Jonathan Durodola 2019 5’10 point guard, August Martin HS - Quick first step gets to the basket in a hurry. Solid handle keeps his head up and sees the floor well. Good speed with the ball. Quality perimeter defender has long arms. Hustles on both ends of the court. Needs to improve his outside shooting. Needs to get stronger.


Oumaru Hydara 2019 6’1 shooting guard, Broome Street Academy - Has a scorers mentality, can score inside-out. Crafty finisher on the drive thru traffic. Shifty handle creates good separation off the dribble. Variation of moves from triple threat. Good pull up jumper. Quality 3pt shooter. Tough perimeter defender, plays the passing lanes well. Sneaky athleticism. Long and lanky frame. Needs to get stronger.


Saidou Jalloh 2020 5’9 point guard, Broome Street Academy - Speedy guard with a quick first step. Good playmaker looks to get his teammates involved. Pesky perimeter defender with quick hands. Hustles hards on both ends of the court. Sneaky athleticism. Needs to take easier layup attempts, takes a lot of unnecessary abuse. Needs to improve his outside shooting.


Andy Dovokic 2019 6’5 forward, Midwood HS - Good spot up shooter, moves well without the ball to get open shots. Good pull up jumper. Moves feet well on defense switching onto perimeter players. Decent rebounder. Long and lanky frame. Needs to be more active defending the paint. Needs to improve his perimeter handle.


Donte Briggs 2019 6’3 small forward, Brooklyn Community Arts and Media HS - Attacks the basket hard, has a quick first step. Long arms helps him block and contest shots well. Good energy on both ends, high motor. Long and lanky frame. Needs to improve his outside shooting. Needs to tighten his handle on the perimeter and secure the ball better under pressure.


Jason Bostick 2020 6’0 point guard, Grady HS - Lightning quick guard with a shifty handle and quick first step. Crafty finisher on the drive thru traffic. Good pull up jumper off the dribble. Good court vision distributes the ball well. Pesky perimeter defender has good foot speed. Okay 3pt shooter, needs to be a more consistent.


Mike Brown 2020 6’6 forward, Grady HS - High energy player, runs the floor very hard. Very active on defense, moves his feet well. Athletic rebounder gives good effort on boards. Okay finisher inside, needs to be more consistent. Needs to improve his mid range shooting.


Shamal Grant 2019 6’1 guard, Summit Academy - Attacks the basket strong and finishes well thru traffic. Quick hands on defense. Sees the floor well. Good speed with the ball, but needs to stay under control under pressure. Needs to be a consistent outside shooter.


Takai Simpkins 2021 6’1 guard, Benjamin Banneker - A pure shooter. Has the ability to play both guard positions. Crafty ball handler has good quickness. Good at attacking the defense and making the extra pass. Needs to be more active on defense.


Tajuan Simpkins 2021 6’1 guard, Benjamin Banneker - Lights out shooter. When his feet are set it’s automatic. Excels playing the passing lane and rebounding from the guard position. Growing into a complete player. Needs to work on his explosiveness.


Gabriel Holley 2021 5’7 point guard, Benjamin Banneker - Natural playmaker and floor general. Looks to attack the defense and make the extra pass. Good court vision for a young PG. Has become more of a vocal leader with more experience. Does a great job utilizing his pull-up jumper. Needs to be on active on defense.
